Finished this movie yesterday night, was just bored and scrolling through my movie board on Pinterest and decided to watch it. I wasn’t prepared at all. I sat silently throughout the film not being able to pause it or even move at all. The only thing I could feel was disgust and sickness. Once the movie was over and the credits started playing I just cried. The monologue at the end also just broke me. In the end of the day we might be adults but things from our childhood, things we can’t possibly control shape our lives. This is a real story for so many people of so many different ages and backgrounds. The way they filmed the movie and how raw it was, in my opinion was exceptional, I don’t think it can really be done again in our day and age. I hope everyone that sees this comment is doing ok .Sending love to you all ❤

Beautiful Recap, i remember i was visually speechless, my heart was racing and body sweating while watching the ending. the way it all added up to the end. the way Brian put his head on Neil knowing there the only people to understand each other in such deeply unsettling trauma. i never ball my eyes out to film, but this one here i was Bawling and woke up trauma I've possibly never recovered. Thank You

I saw this movie for the first time a few days ago and I've been unable to stop thinking about it & watching it. I must've listened to the movie about 5 times and watched it at least 3, it hits really close to home for me and I think it portrays abuse and the aftermaths of it wonderfully, the ending wraps up the movie so nicely and it makes me feel whole almost. It's such a sweet ending I feel, I have so many strong feelings about this film, cannot wait to read the book.

    • @conan4real

Spoilers (vague) . . . The bathroom scene absolutely guts me every single time, the complete whiplash from that to the ending always has me swimming in feelings. I forget her name, Amy?, her character is very intriguing to me and I hope the book reveals more insight into who she is, the more I rewatch it the more I can see the story thread together. It's such a whole and complete movie, I absolutely adore it despite the very grim subject matter. There's so many details to appreciate, if you ever create an indepth breakdown of the film I would love to hear or see it. One of my favorite things is how Niel never actually promises anyone, and the warnings he gets from Wendy, he hears from clients first. I'd been feeling self conscious over my love for it but your video was a comfort of sorts as well :)

It was interesting how the film treats the idea of the non-self. I mean, the antagonist doesn't have any identity, nor do notions of time and space have any meaning to him.

This movie has been my number 1 all time favorite for a good decade now (a close second being 'You Were Never Really Here' The OST, as well, is stunning. Gregg Araki movies are incredibly ethereal, existential, solemn and gloomy in a nostalgic and almost comforting way. So, I'm always excited to hear someone's opinion on them, especially when appreciative of their artistic form. Great video! Thank you for sharing :)

@@sadbutihaveacamera I feel like it's a movie that can't be appreciated to its fullest by everyone, but it is definitely a hidden gem outside of its niche. I found it because I loved Gordon-Levitt in Inception and looked for movies with him. And then this movie got me into Shoegaze music and so forth. I would love to see your take on YWNRH, so if you ever decide on doing that, I'll be clicking on that video so fast! Excited to see what other movies or artforms you decide to share.
