Adopting observability practices: Making the case for technical teams
Developers and engineers, often not in decision-making roles, regularly face challenges in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving issues in environments that lack observability practices. We feel the direct impact of inadequate observability on system reliability and performance. In this session, we will explore the critical role of observability in modern software development and delve into strategies for effectively advocating its adoption within our teams. Drawing from personal experiences, I will share insights on how attendees can make a compelling case for the necessity of observability and champion the adoption of observability practices within their teams. great place for debugging indeed

Hi guys, is Tyk OSS able to cache GraphQL APIs?
can i use tyk as api gateway for mern stack microservice application and deploy on azure cloud. As i am planning to use azure cosmos db(mongodb) as for analytics , is it free to use ?, user base will be low and may incresase if the application get more demand.
Can the transformation plugins inject auth details from a vault aside from meta values?
Thank you for simplify it. Great explanation
You are great. I watched a couple of videos. But this is the video that explained the concept very well.
Hello. Nice video! however, I'm a little bit confused, how are you running 930 workers and hitting 1 000 000 + rps from "localhost"? are the slaves/workers on another machine? -- btw I really like that you mentioned that each locust worker is single threaded
K8S port forwarding from locust UI pod 😄
can we apply this to tyk open source api gateway
Great explanation! Thanks you.
I'm running the Tyk docker container from the docs but I don't have any Dashboard service serving on port 3000?
Can you please create a new video for Tyk 5.1+
Hello, will the steps remain the same for 5.2+ as shown in this video??
Those AWS Marketplace products from Tyk no longer exist... what happened? The only one still there is Tyk Cloud API Management.
Nice video, but it need to more proper explanation to writing those conf file and details for different ports. then is will be more good to understand and implement on same.
Hi Thanks for this explanation. Please clarify the below query Is it possible to have multiple access token for same client id and secret key and keep all of them valid throughout expiration time. In other words, can we control the Token Life cycle
so wonderful
Thank you ladies and gentlemen for such a useful video. This is not fair that it is underrated. I would recommend that every API developer wathces this video.
I followed this video and got error 403 permission denied..
WELL
thanks
Is someone smoking hookah in the background? xD Nice vid thx
Beautiful!!❤❤
Very clear explanation; thanks. However it seems a bit of overkill to provide both the base64 encoded client id and secret in the header and then the actual clear text values in the body. When accessing MSGraph for example, I can get the token by just defining the client id and secret in the body.
Hey Steven! Great catch! It is actually not necessary to provide both the base64 encoded id/secret as well as the plain text values in the body. As per the OAuth RFC: "The authorization server MAY support including the client credentials in the request-body.". So you only need to provide the header or body, not both. You can absolutely do what you're doing with MSGraph. Thanks for the comment :) - Firas
Why put client secret in body?
Hi Vineet! Thanks for the question! In this demonstration, we are generating a system-system API call, which, in this case, the Client Credentials grant type makes the most sense. It doesn't matter if the clientId/clientSecret are passed in the headers or body of the request in order to accomplish the handshake and generate an access token by the auth server. Hope that helps! - Firas
Can you please show me how to do the test input using postman?
can't see the schema for the api
i have a question ? why have no views
We are getting there slowly. Thanks for supporting :)
Wow! Very good content!❤❤❤

Implemented a hyperv machine using ubuntu ISO, installed nginx and made all this work in 3 hours thanks to this video. End to end. Really cool Thank you.
We're glad our video helped you Paul!
This is not a good video. I've worked on multiple monoliths and each has been a untestable disaster of spaghetti code and foreign key constraints. The last one was a 10 year old PHP monolith with hundreds of thousands of lines of code that no one could figure out how to split because it was so bad. Microservices are a pattern, just like modular monolith, and each should be evaluated and used for the problem at hand. Personally I have come to prefer microservices over the last 10 years of my career. We are currently evaluating Tyk for our company but between the condescending tone and insults, this video is making me reconsider.
Thanks for the comment! Yes I agree that badly maintained and designed monoliths are a pain to maintain, and I would also agree that like any tool, Microservices serve a distinct purpose. The real issue comes when folks see Microservices like a hammer, and every project looks like a nail. Ultimately, Microservices are an extension of SOLID and DRY principles in modular software development, just exploded across the network. The same FK constraints apply to Microservices once dependencies emerge between them, and then another layer of tech (e.g. GraphQL) is required to solve those soft-links, escalating complexity should be reserved for truly massive projects that really benefit from it, not a s a greenfield starting point.
"We are currently evaluating Tyk for our company but between the condescending tone and insults, this video is making me reconsider." .... lol. Imagine making a technical decision based on your feelings about someone else's opinion.
"The last one was a 10 year old PHP monolith with hundreds of thousands of lines of code that no one could figure out how to split because it was so bad" - The fact that you think this has anything to do with the architecture and not the developers (including yourself) shows how little you know about software. Those same developers working on microservices would have created an even bigger mess.
Can't you do soemthing in between microservices and monoliths and just go with a few medium sized services in places where splitting makes sense?
