Blackbird watch day 1&2.
Просмотров 421 день назад
It’s Spring Watch in Guildford! A blackbird (not native to Australia, but I can’t help but feel fond of them because they are the sound of summer from my childhood, I know it’s wrong ecologically, but I see her as me in a way.) is nesting just outside my studio window. It’s been fascinating watching her build this nest over the last two days. #birdsnest #nestingbird #blackbird #nestbuilding #na...

Inking Up and Printing the Silvereye In The Chocolate Lace Drypoint Print

For each print in the edition I have to repeat this inking up process from start to finish. That is why these are called 'original prints,' because each is made by hand. Very different from 'reproduction prints' or 'gilcee prints.'

Printmaker and artist Bridget Farmer shows how to make an original print. From creating the dry point copper plate to inking it up by hand and printing it. Each original print is inked up by hand one at a time. The process has to be repeated for every print in the edition. Bridget is influenced by Australia's native birds which she depicts with loose lines capturing their movement and character...

Отличный подарок другу, дорогому человеку. Приятная забота, упаковано своими руками. Мелочь, а как тепло на душе стало❤👏👌
Love the motion!
Where did you purchase your mini printer? Never saw one that small.
Beautiful!
Would you sell me a print? Please? I just fell in love 😁 Antoine, from Portugal
❤❤❤❤ thx
I am astonished at how the beautifully subtle the colours are once they are printed from the plate. Such a different effect to my linocut printing process. I am learning so much about drypoint from watching your videos!
Thank you! yes it's fascinating how different the results are from the two printmaking processes! I do love the effects from intaglio and it suits my style better, but equally I enjoying seeing other printmakers results with the more stylised effects created using relief printing.
Fabulous process video, Bridget! Besides enjoying seeing your process, it is so calming and peaceful watching you do what you do. As a linocut artist, I am fascinated by the similarities and differences with the drypoint etching process. Thanks so much for sharing!
Have you ever seen the work of Caroline Graham? She somehow inks up linoplates in an intaglio fashion and her results are stunning. I'm a big fan of her work. It's so different!
@@bridgetfarmerprintmaker5337ooh, thank you - I will look her up!
@@bridgetfarmerprintmaker5337 I LOVE your work❤. I can't find Caroline Graham on RUclips 😢 would you have a link? Thx a lot
Love your work, and your videos. Do you make your own plates or buy them ready made? If the latter: where?! 😊
I buy the aluminium but I prepare the plate and scratch the image by hand myself.
The little Fairywren is just gorgeous. Thanks so much for sharing your process with us!
Best of luck and lots of sales. I wish I were closer...I'm in Mexico! Greetings.
Thank you so much!
Such a beautiful print and how lovely to see your inking process, Bridget! A beautifully calming video ❤😊
thank you for watching!
A beautiful video. Thank you. ☘️
gorgeous work my fav Aussie bird, love your videos
Beautiful natural linework in your etching and a great video that shows the dedication and talent :))
Thank you very much!
I wish we could have seen the finished print. Your work is beautiful! But as a female artist and a mother myself I understand the challenges, lol! I hope all went well with the birth and the printing!
Thank you for watching! I had forgotten that I'd left that message at the end of the video. It was for the Lost Trades Fair, one of my biggest events of the year, I was meant to attend the fair and do demonstrations, but my baby decided to come 5 weeks early and I couldn't go. So my husband went and sold my wares instead! That baby is now 8 years old! I think I had intended to show the printing of the plate in another video, but yes, having a new born did distract me!
Me encanta tu trabajo , enhorabuena , me encantan las aves y ver tu trabajo ,lo que haces y como trabajas trasmite paz y mucha sabiduria

this looks amazing. What paper did you use?

Funny how you hear things at the right time... thank you Bridget!

I notice artists always use a pencil for the edition and signature. I’ve always wondered why, since it can be forged.
I'm not entirely sure but there may be a few reasons. For example pen might bleed on the paper. Pencil is less bold, so it doesn't take away from the image. I guess anything can be forged whether it's in pencil or pen. Maybe it's just tradition. I tried googling just now but I couldn't find a definitive answer .
@@bridgetfarmerprintmaker5337 hello and thank you for your message) I agree with you! And yes, me too I would have expected to find some information on it online. Cheers.
Delightful. I hope you sold out the edition!
Nice image! I am impressed you got that to line up so neatly !
Hi - What brand ink do you use? thanks!
I use Caligo Safe Wash inks.
This is truly lovely - well done! And the music and 'laughter' (is that sort of the sound they make?!) was nice too.
