Just got recommended this video for some reason, hope you’re doing fine and wish you well🩷
Sorry first experience on going live not used to it. Thanks for the kind words hope you re well.
Hey im curious of what your sleep study revealed. What did it say. Also im looking for fellow non sleepers to talk with at night so i dont feel alone in this 😢
I was diagnosed with severe refractory insomnia and chronic fatigue syndrome. I had a virus that attacked my neurological system from working security in an old hospital full of bacteria in the walls. We can talk if you want idk if we have similar time zones. Until then take care.
Guess no one asked him nothing 😂
Damn I missed it again I think we living in different time zones
What you talk about
Insomnia, gut health, Batman, music, health issues, etc.
What kind of music you listen too If you listen to rap you should listen to thatmexicanot
@@joshuadelacruz2955 Alright I will thx. I listen mostly to movie soundtracks like Hans Zimmer but I like rap too.
damn man, wish i wasnt sleeping when this live happened
There will be others, glad to hear you we sleeping. Take care.
I’ve completely lost the ability too sleep and am sure I’m never really asleep in 2 years! I never feel tired and not once in 2 years have I ever felt I’ve slept, I can’t bare it anymore, I do worry I’ve got SFI or something similar that’s fatal as I have no idea what else can cause this and my mind seems like complete mush.
Here are a few tips that can help. Good luck ruclips.net/video/Ck2SIY5abUE/видео.html
If you have SFI or FFI after 2 years you would be dead by now. Once these conditions are triggered they progress rapidly. And if you are cognitive to type a reply to this youtube video you don't have it because after a few months your ability to think would be gone because of dementia. Another problem with your diagnosis of FFI, it is only transferred genetically, so someone in your families past had to have it and there is only 40 families in the world that are known to have the genetic coding for FFI. As for SFI, can you walk and talk and think because at first that what usually goes first with SFI. Most people who have SFI aren't true insomniacs they do sleep but don't get the restorative sleep they need because of condition and usually the more world other conditions like dizziness or motor function problems (ataxia) or cognitive thinking(dementia) the insomnia is the least of their worries and usually comes later on. SFI is so rare on 39 cases in US have been documented could there have been more that was misdiagnosed yes absolutely but right now that is the best data we have. I have insomnia, myself, its a bitch, and I thought I had these conditions just like everybody else and I simply don't. I don't know what triggers mine but I am working on it and I have insomnia for over 6 years now.
You can talk with me josh I'm scared to
I've been suffering from insomnia for 4 years it's the worst thing I've went through death for me would be a blessing. Paul from Scotland.
Get a polysomnography ASAP, else I'd recommend ca.helight.com/. I know how brutal it is, best of luck Paul.
I got sudden insomnia since 2021 and i try mostly everything.. I got sleep problem that i cant solve.. I wonder how much i am strong because i did everything mostly when i am already tierd.. I am now think of death and i am not scared i just don't want be in hell even i try my best spiritually
So sorry to hear that, I know the feeling quite well...Try watching this video I made theres a few good tricks that I hope could help. Best wishes.ruclips.net/video/Ck2SIY5abUE/видео.html
Do people with severe chronic insomnia ever get better?
In my case it is permanent. Hopefully, each person is different. Thx for watching.
@@thevirtuoso6168 but you do sleep, right?
@@GaryFountainHills With my medication that took 13 years to find yes
@@thevirtuoso6168 that's right, Dayvigo. How many hours do you sleep now?
I see you every where Gary. If you ever want to talk at night let me know. I could use someone to talk to
So your battle with insomnia is over because of Dayvigo? How effective is it , and how long have you been on it ?
At first I experienced night terrors for a week or two, but yeah after dozens of medications, Dayvigo has been working best, but I also take 4 other drugs because I have other illnesses than insomnia.
@@thevirtuoso6168 gotcha. How many hours of a night do you get?
I feel you. Stay strong man, I know you got this.
Hi! Great vid. How do you feel? Average how many hours do you sleep? Hope u r well
Since I jumped from sleeping pills to hypnotics, its another world. Sleeping better but damn it costs 130$ a month. Thanks for watching.
If you weren’t sleeping, why didn’t you just go to a psychiatrist and earlier in your life(not trying to be rude) just a question that I wondered for a while after stumbling upon your video
Thanks for the question, I saw 4 psychiatrists during the process. No help there...
@@thevirtuoso6168I have a few question man maybe you could help pretty much. I went to a sleep study, and I told him that I lost the ability to sleep on my own and just relying on medication asleep told him that I might have sporadic, fatal, insomnia, or something like that and they told me that it is all in my head and that I will sleep in three days good thing with me is that I know I won’t be sleeping and will be awake forever. If I stop my medication now how come these doctors don’t listen to what I have to say even went to a neurologist they didn’t took me seriously
I'm so sorry you have to deal with the negative comments in your situation. I so appreciate you doing this. I'm just starting my investigations now and this is so helpful to know that there is some hope. Yes everyone's situation is different and doctors truly know very little about sleep and we have to be our own advocates. Merci!
This might be random, but who would win in a fight Batman without all his gear on versus Rambo on a fight
Batman is still Batman without his gadgets. My money's on him ;)
4 am here in Brazil, a pretty boring night without anything interesting until i saw the notification for your vídeo.
Thanks for watching.
Man, i haven't slept in a month now, abusing dmt. It feels fatal, as my brain only shuts off for 3 to 4 hours the whole day, brain is awake constantly, only klonopin gives me 2 to 4 hrs sleep, out of 20. I also cant eat. I feel for you brother, im in same boat, abusing dmt can give you permanent insomnia. I lost 30lbs in 1 month
Im so sorry...get to a sleep clinic (polysomnography) asap. Get a good doctor that takes you seriously. Best of luck, always here for you
good seeing you're back.
Thanks! I appreciate it.
Keep fighting, Thinking of you all the way from Ohio USA.
Thank you so much, you made my day. Best wishes.
hey virtuoso, just know that you're a very strong person. keep fighting, wish you the best, from brazil.
Thx a lot, you made my day. All the best
no you don't
hey buddy i am sorry for what happened to you but i would like you give you some advice that i hope may help you As we know you have a severe insomnia so you can sleep ,but you dont have to sleep for your body to rest ,you can also go in a deep meditative state which also calms your body and your brain and it make you feel lil bit more energetic and uplifting.
Thats very true, thanks for the advice
well...its supported by some research according to google but i know a monk who hasnt slept for 26.5 years and just meditate for 14 hours a day that man has been monitered by the local authorities trying to prove him wrong but all of them have failed🤣🤣
I had insomnia in past and I survived from it 2 times with no pills or drugs I'm lucky I guess 🤔
You know Karl Mercieca 🤔 he have the same problem you have
Please try the two drugs doxepin and trimipramine in high doses. I've read myself for years. And the two tricyclic antidepressants can bind to the much folded tail of the prion. I also take 200 mg of carbamazepine against twitches and muscular tissue circulation. I take Doxepin 300mg and Trimipramine 200mg at night. For me, only the two drugs together with carbamazepine work and manage to put me to sleep.
Hey virtuoso, I watched your video and all i have to say is that you are the strongest person I have ever known! Keep fighting this thing and find your way out of this mate. You may be the first person to come out of this buddy!
Thank you very much for the kind words. You made my day.
@@thevirtuoso6168 Keep fighting every moment of your life against this. You will succeed one or the other way!
What you have is different to Fatal Familial Insomnia?
Im not familiar with the term familial insomnia
@@thevirtuoso6168i believe that it past done from a person that has the gene and can past over to there kids
@The Virtuoso How are you doing, Virtuoso? I have never gone through what you are going through. I do suffer from insomnia, so does my son, but we never know when it's going to strike, but we both get a few hours sleep, usually after about 4am, on nights we have it. We both think our problem is that we can't switch our brains off. My children's father and our daughter, can practically go to sleep as soon as their head hits the pillow. I have never been able to do that; except when I had Mononucleosis (aka Glandular Fever).
@@NEGAN_JaneMisimovic Im truly sorry to learn this...it must be crushing to see your child suffer, and you...I am doing better but the new meds my neurologist put me on are ridiculously expensive. Wish you the best, and if I may I would recommend you to watch my video 'Tips to fall asleep faster', it is what helped me the most outside of medications.
Are you able to sleep now? 2 months ago I lost the ability to sleep or feel tired. Since then I've had to be on medication to sleep. Is this similar to you?
I've lost the ability to sleep but not feeling tired. Honestly if your medication works I'm happy for you, I had to wait 6 years and try dozens of medication before finding a neurologist that took me seriously.
@@thevirtuoso6168 I'm so sorry. Are you able to sleep now?
My medication is very hit and miss.

After days of no sleep my heart races but without medical insurance I can't afford to be put out sedation wise. I honestly know anyone except for you that could understand what I'm going through. Medical research for example doesn't say one can go weeks or months with zero sleep I'd need quite a bit of time I'm guessing to get medical insurance for those who are unemployed or disabled etc I'm close to losing my job for sure because I can't sleep
Been there, lost my house, girlfriend, job...wish you luck

Hi the virtuoso I wonder if I can ask you as I have gone about two days zero sleep due to body temperature irregularities which could something related to vitamin deficiencies? Do you think if stay awake I could dream while awake? I've gotten all the blood work and x-rays done and honestly feel that my cold forehead and arms won't let me drifted into sleep. My situation is quite scary and feel that the only thing I can do is just rest my body. I've heard people get hallucinations fast heart beat but never heard of people dream while awake. I feel like I'm going to keep being awake because my vitamin deficiencies are hard to solve. I feel that if I go 10 days without sleep I'll die unless I either fall asleep eventually due to exhaustion or can just dream while awake. I essentially don't have medical insurance where a hospital can use general anesthesia or some kind of sedation to cause me to know out
Yeah my heart was pumping as fuck, thats why lavender oil works for some people, lower the heart rate. I never 'dreamt' awake but I saw some crazy shit. It took 6 years for me to be properly tested and getting knocked out in a 400$ a day private clinic.
I'm black and I think I'm the first black person to catch this disease,I really believe I have it ,I sleep for 2 hours a night for most nights and I sleep good for one night a week !!
Sorry to hear that. It is quite the battle, let me know if I can help.
@@thevirtuoso6168 what's a good way to sleep the best way please tell me!!!!
@@shawngilmore3628 Heres a good way to start I made this video on the subject : ruclips.net/video/Ck2SIY5abUE/видео.html
@@thevirtuoso6168 ok thank you!!
I just went to sleep for like two hours and just wake up why it felt like 6 hours!!
Hi the Virtuoso thanks for your prompt response I do have one very good question. While I have quite severe insomnia I lay in bed most of the whole day. There is a thought that if I go for long walks jogging etc. and avoid just laying in bed I'll beat the insomnia. I see that I keep just laying in bed and feel one of toes become numb and then I feel like my whole body is cold. I'm taking a big guess that poor blood circulation or lack of activity causes lack of oxygen to the brain makes the body cold and makes sleep initiation impossible I wonder if it's true while you have had struggle with sleep did you find that being more active throughout the day help push away insomnia I myself keep laying in bed and I think my appro bed wise isn't right
In my case I always continued to exercice to keep my heart healthy (insomnia causes a lot of exhaustion) but sadly it never changed my sleep. Good thing is I hope youre not like me. It always helps, of course, I hope it does for you. Meanwhile get a helight, its the best non-chemical thing that has really helped me fall asleep. Its not cheap but your health isnt either. Being cold yeah it comes very fast and it sucks. As for staying in bed, everyone says bed is for sleep only if you dont sleep dont develop a mindset of not sleeping. I find that idiotic and not true in my case, like you said they've never been like us. Plus when you dont sleep your vision becomes foggy so I prefer my bed to a speeding car, but thats just me. Hope it helps, find a sleep clinic asap. Wish you the best.
Hi there I hope you're doing well. I look at your video to give myself hope because I bring denied by my doctor access to medicine stronger than Ambien. I'm close to losing my job as a federal employee and don't really have medical insurance thus I won't really have any prescription medicine. I was wondering what in your opinion is the best over the counter solution that has worked for you. I'm thinking once I lose my job I have to apply for medical insurance for low income. I don't really know how it works but I feel I'm raising against time. I appreciate your videos because it gives me hope that there's time. I sadly ran out of Ambien two days ago and can't sleep because my body is always cold very very weird thing with my brain. I post on your account because I wonder if you know if there are medicine over the counter that is good for relaxing the brain I know that Ambien has gaba and gaba does something with relaxation. I don't know if my story will become what your story was in the past but I know things are getting quite tough. It appears your video is what keeps my hope a live because doctors like you have mentioned they don't understand what people go through they're not in their bodies
Im so sorry for your situation, I empathize. Yes, Gaba works well for me. Here are my tips for relaxing the mind and falling asleep faster (or at all). A few tricks available to everybody : ruclips.net/video/Ck2SIY5abUE/видео.html
I never took Ambien but Im sure the withdrawal is horrible. I hope you can find a doctor that take you seriously. A polysomnography is an absolute must. I only got what I needed from a neurologist, regular doctors didnt know shit. Again Im no healthcare professional, just my own experience. Find a sleep clinic ASAP, I know the road is harsh and I dont know how your insurances work, but again I wish you the best of luck. Come back if you have any question I can answer (legally). I'll never let anyone behind if I can help.
An advice for those who watching this nightmare. Set the playback speed 1.5 - 1.75. Then he speaks like a normal people, not like a drunk drug addict.
Great. Now we have 2 karl mercieca on youtube....why is good for you that you scare the hell out of people?
He's got every right to describe what he's going through due to his disease. It may encourage people in similar situation to seek help. Spreading information about diseases (especially the rare ones) is important. He's brave to share such intimate information and thoughts. He's not trying to scare anyone. If you feel scared, it's ok, just don't watch it. It's that simple.
@ Thank you.
My thoughts exactly
Yep, he’s exactly like Karl. My wife had all symptoms and died and she didn’t have the mental ability to do RUclips videos let alone talk at all once symptoms became more advanced. He’s standing and talking like Karl.
I'm truly sorry for your loss, but please understand that it's been 10 years since I've been diagnosed and medicated. I consider myself very lucky. Please understand that I am only making these videos to help people the best I can. Stay safe & healthy, and again, so sorry for your loss, I can't imagine the pain. Take care.
Hi the virtuoso this is Keith and I'm worried no matter hard I tried I was told cold to fall asleep and this is the third day with zero sleep. I was wondering if drinking a can beer can be helpful as sleeping medicine doesn't work. Furthermore I wonder if it's true that you went years with zero sleep. I feel that I'm in the battle of my life and don't know what to do
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and yes, it is a battle indeed. As always, I am NOT a healthcare professionnal, but I would recommend you to wach my 2 videos My Battle with Fatal Insomnia and 'Tips for falling asleep faster. In those 2, I share all my tips for falling asleep and staying asleep. I cant recommand you to use alcohol, but I understand your desperate need to use anything to get the job done.
