I'm a lampworker, I'm confused by the last step. Closing off the hole with the lump of glass for the stamp and the base creates a vacuum inside the bubble, does it not? Does this not cause annealing issues or make the objects very delicate once complete, considering they are under constant pressure?
Do you know quest glass?
What chemical do you use for your fuming chamber. Nice video btw.

I had a friend who was a glass blower. I helped him build a new studio and in exchange he was going to teach me glass blowing. We cut down a huge fir tree, milled it into boards, built a foundation and the shop on top of it and set up the furnace and such. I got to make one paper weight similar in shape to these; clear with stormy waves circling the base. Then his parents moved to Humboldt and I never worked with hot glass again.
Very nicely done. Can I ask which white you’re using? I was making something else ( not a mushroom) and every time I hit it with the torch (map gas) it would burn. I’m using R-61 enamel white. Thanks

Hey great video! Is there anywhere in Stanwood that does beginner classes?
Not that we are aware of. Try Shack Art Center in Everett.

@enzoknol 👍👍
Does that 30 hours of cool down take all the strain out of the glass?
Yes it is called the annealing process
yes it does
Wow!! What a team. Where did you start learning that team work?

Amazing!
What is the composition of the coating?
What coating are you referring to ?
@@GlassQuest I know that these are metal salts, they create an oxide film ( ( tin chloride, iron chloride and isopropyl titanate ). But what is the composition? I've been looking for a long time, I can't find it (((((
