Thanks! OK - Yes, I have read with interesting some early American steam locomotives stuff. Fascinating! Finnish own steam locomotive models plus engines imported here from factories in other countries, they were conventional & there never were any articulated types. You know, all locos were 2 cylinder. By international standards the locos were light but due to the generous loading gauge they were both wide and high. Though power & performance were not up to the highest standards, annual mileages were among the greatest in Europe and wood as the only right option as fuel for locomotives (analyzing our country’s raw material reserves, options, opportunities and logistics).

@@SteveStardust7 it's interesting how steam locomotives--all relatively similar machines in basic design--evolved so differently around the world. Finnish locomotives are big and tall, yet lighter because of the unique loading gauge. Even more true in Russia, where track conditions limited locomotive weight despite the same broad gauge. In america, there haven't been any such limits, except for on narrow gauge lines, where technological development stagnated because of size and traffic limits. All interesting stuff. Again, Finnish locomotives are so unique; a blend of modern development and relatively old-fashioned elements that seem more at home on an 1860s American locomotive than on a European passenger engine from 80 years later. Beautiful locomotives from a beautiful country!

Also, I think you are from some Anglo-American country, the countries that started the development of steam locomotives and the industrial revolution; Indeed, In many ways Great countries, also for their wonderful nature (We should all start working for the preservation of nature already. For our own good before its too late etc)! Well, you know, as late as autumn of 1860 , 4 locos shipped to Finland Grand Duchy in dismantled form to be assembled at the capital city workshops of the Finnish State Railways. A1 class 4-4-0 no.1 "Ilmarinen" was the first to be comissioned & became 1st to run in Finland when it was tested Helsinki area 8th of August, 1861. A1 class 4-4-0 no.2 "Lemminkäinen" (Names according to the mythology of the Kalevala epic) had the distinction of hauling the inauguration train to city of Hämeenlinna on 31st of Jan, 1862. The Railway was opened to regular traffic on 17th of March, 1862. Perhaps you have also read this information before.

"Shay" An interesting type of steam locomotive! Interesting also because in my country at the "golden era of steam" there were no such ´experiments´ in use etc. "Only traditional solutions."

In a solution like Shay, grip on the rails has certainly been enough to pull timber in stunning Virginia landscapes!

Did You know that, here in Finland Uriah heep was very, very popular: Salisbury, Look at Yourself, Demon´s and Wizards & The Magician´s Birthday went number one in our chart - Four times in a row! (not Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple or Black Sabbath) So, I like the band, my woman partner too and father etc etc. likes also :)

@@jerrywoods4066 Well, unbelievable but true, Uriah Heep in 1971-72 win even Deep Purple here in Finland in charts; CCR 1970-71 and The Beatles -1969 1 (...UK 1: Fireball 1971 -- UK 1: Machine Head 1972!).... Might be...you know, Black Knight is my still living Rock God (Superb Blackmore´s Night!), but Steve Morse is very, very talented too. Some new DP records 1996 - are full of rich guitar stuff. Very interesting stuff actually.
