This IS the best/funniest Sinatra story I've heard. Dennis Miller is such a crafter of sentences...always funny. So touching that his mother received such a thrill towards the end of her life.

First comedy show I ever went to was Dennis Miller in Bethlehem PA, in high school. I could barely breathe by the end of it. So sad that he quit his radio show. This is such a classic Miller story - equally sweet and funny.

Dennis Miller has been my favourite comedian since I first heard him on a cassette tape called The Off White Album back in the 80s. This is an exquisitely told anecdote, he even throws in a little Rickle's for us too. Never seen him live or his tv shows until the youtube but then again I am from London, England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧

A great, great story as only Dennis Miller could tell. His brilliance is overlooked, and he is a very underrated standup comedian. I think that because of his intelligence he does not fit the “mold” of a standup; nothing personal to Bill Burr. Sebastian Maniscalco, Dave Chappelle, etc. His stint on Monday Night Football was one of the worse decisions made by whoever decides these things. It looked good on paper, I am sure, but, as soon as the cameras rolled on that first game everyone knew it was a mistake, sort of like how George H Bush felt when the world realized that he just picked Dan Quayle as his running mate. (The 2nd in command could not spell potatoes.)

Frank was cool. But I am glad he mentioned Don Rickles. The funniest I have have seen Don was in the movie "Casino", with Robert DeNiro and Joe Pesci. In a scene, long cut from the movie since then, (don't know why), an Asian mogul who had just won a ton of money was about to leave Las Vegas on a private jet. So, to keep the guy there so the casino could recoup their money, they found a "problem" with the plane. The mogul was furious, and as they were deplaning, with the mogul complaining about the delay, Don piped, "Well, it beats the alternative...". I know it's only one line in like a 4 hour movie, but Don Rickles delivery of it, with it's punch, and I might add seriousness, made it the most memorable line of the movie - and they took it out.
