Watching Andy jump under the blanket still makes me laugh. And of course when Gomer slams the door on a sleeping Andy the next morning is just as funny.

I am Freedom Rock. Back in my highskool daze, my mom dared me to wear my bandana (silk scarf) to skool. The bullies made fun of me making ref to this commercial (which I loved..it's all my fav songs yo) and gave me a new they thot nickname Freedom Rock. It stuck. My truest frens called me by that name and do to this day. My mom was going to let me change my name to Freedom but evil took her over for a time. I have always as I learned from my mom, fought for freedom, equality and justice. She was a part of the Weathermen and I wanted to start a metal/roar band with tones of Moody Blues with the name, Weathermen. I guess someone caught onto my idea and made one, too. I wonder tho, is it about freedom, equality and justice as were the original Weathermen who fought alongside the Black Panthers. 🤔 probably not. Anyhoo, thought I'd mention. 🤘🏽

I never ordered this in 1988 because I was too in love with 80s music. By this time, the hippie movement was dead and we only knew what our parents told us about them: they were people with long hair, wore old baggy clothes, wore sandals, they hitchhiked and wandered the country, they smoked a lot of weed and did alot of LSD, they didn't care too much about rules and the worst one, didn't like to shower. I guess that last characteristic wasn't too appealing to us children of the 80s. However, thanks to movies like The Doors and Forrest Gump that came out a few years later, it helped us genxers develop interest for 1960s/1970s baby boomer music and we learned how to appreciate it, and still do.

Other “CHICAGO” videos have their comments turned off…especially those about PETE CETERA LEAVING….. those videos ignore the monster issue, the suicide of TERRY KATH , the greatest guitarist of any genre of hard rock…. Indeed when JIMI HENDRICKS says “he is better than me”, that is something to take note of. Losing TK was a huge blow to CTA…. That said , the super groups they formed with EWF and DAVID FOSTER WERE EXCELLENT…. I think they had a gig at FILLMORE EAST the same weekend as WOODSTOCK so they couldn’t make it?

2024 now….beautiful memory. RIP Dennis, Carl and Glen. Roth’s comments were hilarious. They’ve NEVER been out if style to me. The Beach Boys out-achieved all of them. My personal favorite was the Sunflower/Surfs Up/Wild Honey/Holland era. Kokomo was the cherry on top! It’s always summer and fun when their music is playing. Peace to y’all!!

Some extremely niche trivia, but the guy in the commercial was the main English voice actor/announcer in all the early Neo-Geo arcade games.

Writing an album and this sound is a big influence. Arrangement is perfect. That bass is incredible as is Glen's lick into chorus 2 and 3. Magic!

My cassettes finally arrived!

Gomer was used to living alone. He had a room in the back of Wally's filling station. Too bad we didn't get to see it, or his bedtime routine there. Smoking in bed is very dangerous. Thankfully Andy put out the cigarette, and later quit smoking for good.
