Mantap bang, bagaimana bisa gua yang dari dulu suka musik klasik baru tahu kalo gamelan ternyata enak gini di dengerin 😂😂 Pas kecil sempat gak suka sama gamelan karena nadanya kedengaran monoton tapi sekarang entah kenapa jadi suka lagi, dah seharian ngabisin minggu dengerin gamelan doang 😂😂

My favorite movement in the Java Suite is Purwa (shadow puppet plays). The opening Gamalan is one of my favorites, as it brings a very appropriate pace and theme to the introduction of the suite. Puts the listener in the correct mood, so to speak. (I also really enjoy listening to the Three Dances "moderato" movement). Thanks for your careful, lovely performance (and not a bad piano too!), and thanks also for sharing your performance with the wider community here. Interestingly for me, I am unable to fully separate what I feel is the "interestingness" of the Java Suite from Albéniz' "Iberia" suite, mainly because I first heard each of them within a very short period of time from one another on my adventure in exploring the wider piano repertoire. As a piano afficionado yourself, I'm sure you've heard of Albéniz' Iberia, and of Alicia de Larrocha's masterful recordings of it. Anyway, I was hoping you could comment on my combining of the Iberia and Java suites into a similar category. I'm hoping there's more to it than just this Westerner's fascination with tempos and chord progressions that aren't necessarily Western in nature. A great heartfelt performance of one of my favorite pieces

You should try re-tuning a piano in pelog or at least a mean of pelog (since there isn't neccesarily an exact measurement because of regional deviations) ,its truly a scale hard to fit into western practice faithfully because of how different it is constructed and used 0.0 ,further more I really like how you are exposing a much more western audience to this unique music but I think that gamelan music loses its chroma and aesthetic without the original tuning :(
