This journey on the Victorian Goldfields Railway on New Year’s Eve in 2000 is a trip to the past in more ways than one. This journey behind steam locomotive K160 takes us from Maldon to Muckleford, which at the time was the end of the line as the full branch to Castlemaine was yet to be restored. This K Class steam locomotive, stored in Hamilton Victoria, is a combination of three different locomotives. The frame and coupled wheels are those of K177, the tender is that of K159, and the boiler and pony wheels are from k174. These photos were taken during a visit to Hamilton on Monday 4 September 2023.
