    I saw this and thought, I didn't know there were coal mines in California and then, it's not a coal mine. How could there be an uncontrolled fire in a non-coal mine, there is timbering, but no methane or coal dust.

    • @paintedsmile5282
      @paintedsmile5282 2 года назад

      There can be a uncontrollable fire in any type of mine. Especially back then when it was hard to tell the composition of the rock around the ore. There are elements that can become fuel for a fire after they are heated up. No to mention things brought into the mine such as oil. And the byproducts of the mining operation itself. But the primary fire itself was extinguished after 2 and a half days. However the smoke and gases it produced can linger for a long time. Not to mention the fire would've burned the wooden supports for the mines tunnels, causing collapses and cave ins.

      All dust is explosive and there are more flammable gases than just methane. Presence of flammable gas has nothing to do with coal. The mine was constructed with wooden framing which is flammable, too.

    I did a lot of research, and never came across people blaming a miner for a fire, never. These people are deplorable!!

    • @paintedsmile5282
      @paintedsmile5282 2 года назад

      You've never come across a miner being blamed for a fire? What kind of surface level research did you do? There are many fires caused by miners making mistakes. Such as the Welberg Mine Disaster which, was caused by someone forgetting to turn off a air compressor. In fact their are many mine fires accidentally caused by the miners. However the companies are the one's held responsible (and rightfully so) for not preventing the circumstances that allowed the miner to make that mistake.

      I just read a book about this disaster and it clearly blamed the miner.

  • @jenmb2679

    They cannot blame him just because he was missing. How would he get out if there are other people above ground, they would see him.
