while the no dachi would 100% if you didn't stack the odds against the Katana Samurai, the No Dachi will always have a special place in my otherwise mostly ashigaru army, it allows me to have the perfect shock unit without the need of having cavalry around, I don't like spending time having to watch my cavalry in case of enemy yari starts trying to counter it, No Dachi simply just ignores any yari and naginata weakness not to mention that my army is mostly ashigaru, which I would have Master Armourer and Armoury in blacksmith provinces anyway, by coincidence also perfect for No Dachi

This is not the best of tests. You stretched out the formation which makes a phalanx weaker historically speaking. Game play wise, it meant that a good half of your unit was standing around doing nothing for a lot of the fight. It also meant your general was way out on the side, safe from the fighting and so you were safe from the morale hit that the AI suffered from when their general died. Lastly, you didn't keep the base formation that the AI did and you made the AI come to you, instead of meeting them half way. If you want to make unit test videos, you should try to be as consistent as possible. That means changing as few variables as possible. Something to consider for the next one. Your commentary was pretty good for random banter but maybe you could fill the dead period (when you are waiting for the action to start) with historical facts about the units or how to use the units in game, or something like that. Make it more about the units you are showcasing instead of noticing the graphics of a unit or the derpy pathfinding.

Fire by rank causes a delay in getting off the first volley. The overall shot by minute is higher but the first volley can let a melee unit close the distance before the first shot gets off. For a 1 unit vs 1 unit set up you should leave it off.

I love videos made by smaller channels, however you should cut the preparation part and skip right to the fight.

Just to provide feedback, I believe you had your Katana Samurai running the entire duration of the test while the no-dachi were walking most of it, which will debuff the acceleration in your charge as well as negatively affect combat performance when tired. Additionally, trying to disengage them mid-fight guaranteed they would lose the fight because they disengage from melee and get hit with significant defense/morale debuff.

just started my first ever nonRoman campaign...and selected the Seleucids. Very fun and different play than the Romans.

Strongest roster in the game. Elite pike phalaxes, wide variety of horsemen including cataphracts and javelin cav, elephants, and their own legionaries which are just as good as roman ones but slightly cheaper.

A note: While the Seleucids may have the best unit roster in general (in my opinion) it’s only as good as far as you can get it in the campaign! The Seleucids have a pretty bad starting position.

Would you like to see a Thrace campaign after this one, or something different? Edit: Probably not Thrace, the game advertised a difficulty of very hard! Edit 2: I’m in the progress of a Thrace campaign as practice, it might be possible.
