    I buy all my meat on sale. Today I bought 10 lbs of 80/20 ground beef for 2.99/lb. Came home and vacuum sealed it all in 1/2lb pkgs. It's just the 2 of us so that's all we eat at a time. I love using lentil or beans for some of the beef too. We love lentil sloppy joes better than ground beef!

  • @jillgott6567
    @jillgott6567 4 дня назад

    I buy my meat on sale ,manager's special or clearance. The last time I found a ground beef special, it was frozen, preformed, all beef patties 20 in a package, originally $19.99. Reduced to half off. I bought 2 packages so 40 patties at $.50/ each. Some I cooked for hamburgers and then frozen, some were frozen raw, and the rest I cooked, and mashed into smaller pieces for spaghetti sauce. I also found a 2.5 pound bag of Chicken Tenders for half price - I only paid $5.98. Lots of great meals for winter months ahead.

  • @yvonnepalmquist8676
    @yvonnepalmquist8676 4 дня назад

    At my Walmart I can buy the individual patties in the Great Value Brand between $4-4.65/pound. I find this to be less than the fresh, so I'm saving money with a lower purchase price, but I also save by reducing the amount of meat I use. I'm no longer held to using a pound at a time. Another bonus is that it thaws so quickly, I do not need to remember to thaw ahead of time.

      Absolutely! Over the years, I have scaled back meat a lot in my cooking and typically only use about 1/2 a pound to 3/4 of a pound per meal. That little bit every meal really adds up and can make more meals!

When the French toast is cooled, i put all of it in a freezer bag. It’s so nice to grab a few pieces for breakfast when i want it. I made bacon and cheesy potato soup yesterday (used canned potatoes and bacon bits along with instant mashed potatoes to thicken it, all from the food pantry!! What a coincidence we both made potato soup! lol As much as I love you and your weekly menus, I have to say that I MUCH prefer the use of a crockpot "dump & go" meal over having to make it on the stove right then and there a.k.a. your potato soup. But to each their own! Anywho, I shouldnt have to cook again until at least Monday because we have so much meatloaf and cheesy potato soup leftover from this week to last. It made a LOT of meatloaf to use a pound of ground pork and a pound of hamburger. Its delish but MAN, I think Im going to have to use the last of it to make spaghetti sauce or something on Monday night. Im kinda over meatloaf already. lol Thanks again!

    • @lowdoughfamily9713
      @lowdoughfamily9713 7 дней назад

      I like the stove top option for when I don't think ahead to make it in the crockpot! I would totally break up the meatloaf and re-invent it into something else. Spaghetti would totally work! You could also make enchiladas, tacos, or casserole where you would normally use ground meat. Lots of options available! Next time try making meatloaf in small batches. I like making mini meatloaves instead of one big one because they cook faster! Have a great weekend!

    One way to flip a whole quesadilla is to place a plate face down over the skillet and flip the pan and plate over together so the quesadilla falls onto the plate. When it comes to seasonings/spices, aromatics, sauces... the extra flavor not only is worth the "few extra dollars" but saves you money. Theses are the items that not only make a boring Monday meal awesome... they make the budget items making your meals enjoyable over and over again. It turns one budget meal a week into three, four, or more budget meals. Would I like to do with portobello mushrooms that I get from Sam’s Club as I will clean them pull the stems off them and use the stems and other meals for later use but I will clean the mushrooms really clean and then I get the 32 ounce spinach artichoke dip at Sam’s Club. It is the best price I’ve ever seen at Sam’s Club. It’s just over seven dollars for 32 ounce container. I will take the spinach artichoke dip and fill The mushrooms up with it. Put them on a cookie sheet flash freeze them overnight and then put them into Ziploc bags. Aldi has the same product in stock and eight piece artichoke and spinach dipped mushroom and they charge almost 5 dollars! I can make a ton of this for much cheaper by buying these items at Costco or Sam’s Club and I normally purchase at Sam’s Club and do it myself at home and it’s absolutely amazing! I will say another thing I know it’s not produce related but get your hummus especially red pepper hummus at Sam’s Club. I paid 4 1/2 dollars for a 32 ounce container of hummus at Sam’s Club. I went on Amazon and got 2 ounce portion dip cups they come 100 to a sleeve and they also come with lids. They’re plastic and see-through. I fill them each up with hummus from the 32 ounce container And then freeze them myself and take them out as needed instead of buying those crazy expensive portioned and pre-portioned cups for hummus and guacamole. I say do it yourself I’ve done this over and over many times and it saves a ton of money! The slaves on Amazon is 100 count 2 ounce portion cups for under eight dollars! Again spinach artichoke dip 32 ounces and red pepper hummus 32 ounces at Sam’s Club is the best price you’re gonna find anywhere for either one of these products! As far as avocados go you can freeze those whole as well so that they don’t brown on you but you can make your own avocado cups as well and save a ton of money! I like to take my peppers and onions chop them up myself flash freeze them overnight in the freezer and then put them in a Ziploc bags that way when I need them on hand I can use them! I do not purchase the 20 ounce bags already pre-chart for you in the frozen food section because they’re literally over $2.80 for 20 ounce actually and Ziploc bag
