Making of DEMARRAGE V2

    Thank you for the information and the video! I appreciate all the effort you put into you channel! Question ... Rather than trying to run all of the resistive loads ... What results would you get going into a charge controller and charging a 12V / 100AH Lithium battery? Your set up is the cleanest / closest to charge potentially charging a battery using hoverboard motors I've seen. I'm hoping to create a set up whereby I can charge 12V / 100AH lithium batteries, one at a time (or maybe 2 at a time for 24V) and have them either in backup reserve or in a constant rotation of 5-10 batteries & inverters to run various items when needed (TV, refrigerator, etc)

    Yup those hoverboard motors make awsome generators. You can rearrange the parts on the controller board to build the rectifier and even using the BMS to make a nice clean 30V DC output.

    Sekshundert wat, dat is lekker veel. En dan te bedenken dat er nog allerlei verliezen zijn, dus je produceert heel watt met je benen, voor kort maar toch. 620W voor 2 seconden, dat is.. 0.34Wh. Dat is een prima resultaat voor 2 seconden fietsen! Leuk filmpje én leerzaam.

    During a bicycle race, an elite cyclist can produce close to 400 watts of mechanical power over an hour and in short bursts over double that-1000 to 1100 watts; modern racing bicycles have greater than 95% mechanical efficiency. 5% friction, what about this bike

    • @jurriaandevosprojects
      @jurriaandevosprojects Год назад

      Hehehe well, I'm pretty sure neither me nor this bike are in the elite segment... 😇 There is "normal" friction in chain, bearings, etc. and this bike has seen better days. So well above 5% I'd say. Then there is a lot of added fruction between the aluminum rim of the rear wheel, and the rubber from the hoverboard motors. So I'd roughly estimate between 15 and 20% lost between legs and generator. And then there is of course the efficiency with which the generators translate rotation into electricity. No idea how much is lost there to be honest. Stay tuned for the next video's to see how much power I acctually get into a battery. There are some more conversion losses there 😉

    how long does it take to boil a kettle of water with 200-300 watts?

    • @jurriaandevosprojects
      @jurriaandevosprojects Год назад

      Depends on a few factors like efficiency of your boiling device and thermal isolation and such. But, considering that a 80w 350ml water boiler takes about 25min to get to boiling temperature, you could use 3 of those to boil about a liter of water in 25min using 240w. More or less. :-)

      @jurriaandevosprojects Год назад

      @@KnowArt Yes. So usually some gas/coal/nuclear/biomass-powered steam turbine is doing all that work for YOUR cup of tea. 🙂 Or it's wind, solar, hydro, tidal or thermal power, but those are actually quite a small percentage of power generation.

    • @jurriaandevosprojects
      @jurriaandevosprojects Год назад

      So far, nah. Hitting a 10sec peak of 600w is pretty tough already, let alone sustain it long enough for any significant amount of water to boil. Maybe a cup of tea would work, maybe a slice of toast. When you team up wit a bunch of people though, it gets more realistic! 4 people might be able to sustain 1kW for long enough to do some cooking... 😊

    • @christopherleubner6633

      Induction plates need 60hz to give the base frequency for the pwm to use as a carrier. Also need to be used with a pure sinewave inverter or the guts blow up.

    As a seller it's the same. Usually it's not worth selling small items because it just takes too much time. Thrift stores are great, but never digitally cataloged, making them useless too if you need to buy something specific. There's so much value lost... It's a tragic situation.

    • @KnowArt
      @KnowArt Год назад

      Often, mass produced products are cheaper /and/ better. But even in that case they might add less value over their lifespan as they won't be resold because the market is flooded, making it unproductive for individuals to resell. I wonder if this can become so bad that the overall efficiency ratio of a product is worse, between the work that it took to create the product vs the work that the product does in its lifetime. That'd be worth a nobel prize.

    • @jurriaandevosprojects
      @jurriaandevosprojects Год назад

      @Know Art Very true. I left the whole "economy of scale"-thing out of the story, cuz there's already so much to say. You wanna make a video about it? Colab?😛 But you're right. Producing in great quantities is incredibly more efficient than producing/trading/repairing in tiny quantities. Stuff and its location tends to go in an ever increasing state of entropy, where it scaters throughout the world until it's either worn and torn, or just not in the right place to be used anymore. Logistics and indexing is a great challenge right now. If someone would apply AI there, that'd be nice. Nobel prize, anyone? 🙂 Responding to your last thought, I don't think our current economic system is targeted towards efficiency and utility, but towards maximum reward. So I think it's very plausible that there are products that in fact cost more to produce then they'll ever make up for. This of cource also taps into true pricing.... And I think it's a hard thing to measure. Sure, if all product where tools, it'd be realtively easy. But there are a lot of products that aren't produced to do work. Books, paintings, ornaments, paint, etc. I don't know how to measure when a book had more output than it cost to produce. And other things are there to provide security, either real, or security of utility. For example, how much work do smoke detectors do? Or how usefull is it to have a shed full of tools that you rarely use? Or a car for occasional trips? They're all there to provide security of utility, but are seldomly used. Well. Hm. Thoughts. 🙂 I would argue, quite bluntly, that we'd need to maximise utility if we want to sustain such a huge population. So sustainability = maximising utility? Maybe. More thoughts.
