This pastor misses on so many things. The Bible clearly teaches God anointing and expecting believers to lay their hands for the miraculous. Mar 16:15-18 ESV And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation. (16) Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. (17) And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; (18) they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Who will cast out demons? Who will speak in new tongues? Who will pick up serpents ("with their hands")? Who will drink any deadly poison? WHO WILL LAY HANDS ON THE SICK FOR THEM TO RECOVER? Acts 19:6: “When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.” Heb 6:1-3 ESV Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, (2) and of instruction about washings, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. (3) And this we will do if God permits. Eph 4:11-13 ESV And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, (12) to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, (13) until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, Read V13 until when are the apostles and prophets along with the other gifts given?

Thank God for getting rid of the weeds of cessationism from me. My life and ministry took a drastic change after I was baptized in the Holy Spirit and received the gift of speaking in tongues. Feel sorry for the cessiotionist and what they're missing out big time. They think they are powerful than Jesus who had to be anointed with the Holy Spirit and power in order to do the works of the Father (Acts 10:38).

Isn't the Bible different now from then?

Praise God for His mercy, which comes out of the abundance of His steadfast love. Too often I forget that my salvation does not depend on my works. It's not my own doing, it is the gift of God. Not because of my works, lest I should boast.

BASICALLY GODS VERSION OF “ because I said so.”

This is wrong. What you're explaining is partiality and God is not partial! God had mercy on the entire world through Jesus and His sacrifice on the cross! John 3:16. The WHOLE WORLD can receive salvation, not the elect only! Countless verses that say the same thing, and Jesus said the same thing: John 12:32 NKJV [32] And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself.” Not the elect. Stop reading something into the Bible that isn't there, because then you have to do mental gymnastics to explain away so many other verses.

This wild bifurcation does not leave room for stalwarts like John Frame, a quasi-cessationist. It would be worth interacting with his work on this topic.
