Just explaining some of the mods on my 2004 Nissan Frontier. As mentioned there are sound clips of the exhaust both before and after the headers and y pipe were put on, on my channel. Isn’t being in the 5k and 6k rpm’s not good for your engine over time? When i rev mine stock going into a freeway, the highest the rpm’s go is like 4k, and i thought that was high just getting up to 65mph
What’s your full setup?
Full set up is the ARH long tubes, X pipe, borla over axle pipes, and borla touring mufflers. Thanks for the comment!
You can always advance the timing and run higher octane gas. The factory timing is 14 degrees I think, you can advance it safe 4 degrees.
I miss my frontier allready. Total loss someone ran the stop sign :( what type of fuel economy do you get with the mods ? Mine only got 15mpg after deleting secondary cats since they were clogged

Prob because you’re lighter, is your truck a supercab, super crew, or just two door single cab? Honestly anything under a super crew wheelbase would beat a raptor just in weight

Hey quick question when you deleted the factory headers and the primary cats, did it throw a check engine light, if so did you do anything to remedy that? My state is getting rid of emissions and wanted to do some headers at some point.
I had the o2 extenders to prevent the CEL. However shortly after I sold it, it had a CEL for a bad o2. Had the part to put it on and never did. But just get o2 extensions and you should be ok
@@NissanTy Gotcha just makes it so you don't have to extend the 02 sensor wires I'm guessing?
@Jeremy G that and so it doesn't throw a CEL since the headers delete the primary cats. There's o2s that come right off the primary cats and the extensions extend the o2s out of the pipe, that was the o2 doesn't sniff the dirty exhaust gasses causing a p0430 p0420 code
@@NissanTy Gotcha, would you get those Doug Thornley headers again or go with something else, I don't want them to rust in a year or 2
@Jeremy G honestly the Doug Thorley headers were the only ones available lol. They seemed to be decent quality and held up good. They didn't have slight surface rust on them when I sold it. I would buy them again though

i have a 97 pathy with the vg33 and the 2 things i did that made the most difference was the Efan conversion and the PCV reroute. it really woke the motor up especially having the manual

This truck has been long gone. Would've ran better if there was tuning available but the first gen frontiers had no tuning availability and I wasn't going to spend anymore money on a truck that barely pushed 200 horsepower at the crank

I bought them used. Seller said they were s types but I believe they're the touring mufflers. Which is fine since my exhaust is loud enough lol
dude super clean engine bay wow. How do you have the motor so clean? did you sandblast it or something? I tried wire brushing it but no luck.
This was an older video. But at least once ot twice a year I'd clean it up. I traded it in 2 years ago and it was still just as clean. I loved that little truck and always took extreme care of it

@@itsmetiqui1136 I used a water hose (no pressure washer) and covered up my distributor, then after spraying the engine down just used a brush with some soap and water. The engine never got too greasy or dirty to use a degreaser. If your engine is dirty it wouldn't hurt to use a degreaser with some soap and water. And remember light water pressure and use a plastic bag to cover up the distributor
I'm assuming it wont pass smog does ur engine light come on
I sold this thing over 2 years ago. But I had CEL eliminators in it and while the light didn't come on it did have a bad o2 sensor

Correct. Honestly the truck needed a nice tune for unfortunately there's no tuners available for a first gen frontier unless you go megasquirt or something stand alone

My engine lights keep going off after installing headers.
Need the antifoulers that raises the o2 sensors out of the stream of the exhaust after the cats

@@Lumpycrown845 im a little worried about warranty work but im still loving the tune! I just recently had the GooseTune for about a month. Had the cobb stage 1 prior and its a night day difference! Your truck is going to pull hard with those extra mods

Thank you! Not bad for a stock ecoboost with just a tune! Lol. I could get a larger front mount and downpipes and with an e30 blend get a lot more
5-speed manual is still doggy and runs over 3k rpm's at 70 mph.

@@Teaton22 I bought them used and the guy advertised them as S type. I honestly do think they're touring mufflers. But I'm not complaining since they're raspy exhaust with the long tubes and the res delete
Tyler Crist yeah man they’re definitely touring. That’s what I have, I thought they were s type for a minute but the touring has a more mellow and controlled tone. Sounds good as he’ll though, I still have factory cats but have an x pipe and resonator delete so it’s nice to finally have a video to compare what mine will sound like with long tubes. I just ordered cat deletes though until I can get some long tubes. Shits difficult in cali. Post more videos bro I subbed so I can hear this thing!
@@Teaton22 thank you! I'm definitely happy with the sound with the long tubes! I actually think they're a tad too loud, I couldnt imagine s types or even ataks! When I had my gt500 axle backs the tips tucked better in the bumper, I tried adjusting them but they won't budge. And I'll definitely get more vids once it stops raining around here lol. I'll do a full video of exterior accelerations. Mild to wide open. You'll notice a good gain with cat deletes!

Truck still new and has warranty. Plus once I dona front mount and downpipes I'll just get a custom tune
How much horse power increase whit te headers?
If I had to guess maybe 10-15hp? I noticed a difference in power
Jets performance tune isnt a programmer, you have to remove the ECM and send it off, I did it several years ago.
How hard was it to put the headers on the truck
The hard part is taking off the manifolds. It's a pain working in tight places, with minimal tool movement. Taking off the brake booster opens up tons of space, but not necessary. Removing the cats opens up space for the rear manifold bolts. The labor is pricey because it's a pain and slow. It's doable if you have the tools, will and time.
What size exhaust piping did you use header to merge collector and from collector back?
The collector I think was tiny! Like 2 inches? I used 2.25 inch piping all the way back to the 2.5 inch magnaflow exhaust. The 2.25 inch piping hurt the truck more than helped it
@@NissanTy I was thinking removing the secondary cats, then 2 inch from factory manifold back and 2.5 inch after the merge collector. I'm a little bit iffy on getting the Doug Thorly headers. Next I'm going to remove the clutch fan and put in 2 Spal 12 inch electric fans. Getting rid of the clutch fan should free up 8 to 10 WHP and really help with getting better fuel economy. I just bought a white 2002 V6 long bed with 27,000 miles from the original owner who was 89 years old. The truck looks new.

@@andreasmikoleiczik6120 I had a custom y pipe made with larger piping. I lost all kinds of power after doing so. I'd leave the factory size piping and remove the cats. And 27k miles!? Wow! I traded mine in back in May. I miss it but I love the my truck!
@@NissanTy make it even better. The truck has side steps, factory roof rack, hood bug deflector, window - deflectors and Uhaul tow package, and I got it all for $9,000. I wish I could post pics.

I also have the same truck its a black 04 Nissan Frontier 4x4 Non-Supercharged, but with the 5 speed manual. Were you able to do an EGR Delete on it ?? How much was the cold air intake, I've been debating getting the k&n since I can probably build a custom intake for cheap. Anyways I've done cold air intakes before, do you feel like your intake was worth the cost. I live in northwestern corner of PA. Hope to run into you someday.
Thanks! No the truck still has its egr system just the headers. As far as the intake you can make your own by using the factory airbox and removing the resonators. Its really easy to do. I've had my intake on my truck for bout 12 years now and its given me no issues. Makes a great sound! This truck hasn't been given much attention lately due to me purchasing a 2013 5.0 mustang lol. After winter i'll go over it and redo some things on her, I love this little truck, had it since it was brand new

did you install the headers yourself or did you have a shop do it? if you did it yourself, how hard was it?
maxboogie With the lack of some tools I had a shop do them. Labor was insane though. If you have the right tools I'd do them yourself. They honestly don't look hard to do but don't quote me on that
