How A Fire Engine Works #FireEngineExplained #FireTruckTechnology
Join us as we explore how a fire engine works, a powerful and essential tool in firefighting. A fire engine is much more than just a big vehicle-it’s a mobile command center packed with specialized equipment and advanced technology designed to combat fires and save lives.
At the heart of a fire engine is the powerful engine itself, which drives the vehicle and powers all its functions. It’s equipped with a water pump that draws water from a nearby source, such as a hydrant or water tank, and delivers it through hoses to extinguish flames. Fire engines are also equipped with large water tanks, often ranging from 500 to 1,500 gallons, which can be used when no immediate water source is avail...

    Worst engine ever

  • @ghostwrench2292
    @ghostwrench2292 10 часов назад

    The video stated debris from the deteriorating timing belt clogs the oil pick up tube. I have never seen that in wet belt systems. What I normally see is teeth on the timing belt shear off and the driven component (oil pump usually) stops being driven. Obviously, no oil pressure in a running engine is catastrophic.

    • @AutoIgnite-b8g
      @AutoIgnite-b8g 5 часов назад

      What is mentioned in the video may be a rare case, but it is technically possible based on the system design and operating conditions.

    • @AutoIgnite-b8g
      @AutoIgnite-b8g 5 часов назад

      1. Deterioration of the timing belt and its effect on the oil system: In some cases, the deterioration of the timing belt can result in small particles or debris falling off, which might clog the oil pickup tube. While this is uncommon in wet belt systems, it is technically possible depending on the system's design and maintenance quality. 2. Shearing of timing belt teeth: The shearing or peeling off of timing belt teeth is a common issue when the belt deteriorates. This failure can cause the driven components (such as the oil pump) to stop functioning. If the oil pump stops, oil pressure drops significantly. 3. Consequences on oil pressure: A drop or loss of oil pressure while the engine is running is a critical issue, as it can lead to severe engine damage due to lack of lubrication. Any malfunction related to the oil system or timing belt must be addressed promptly to avoid catastrophic damage. 4. Solutions and recommendations: Regular inspection and maintenance of the timing belt are essential, especially in wet belt systems. Ensure the oil system is clean and well-maintained to prevent clogging of the oil pickup tube. If any unusual noises or a drop in oil pressure are detected, immediately shut off the engine and investigate the cause.

    How does the design of the turbines and compressors impact the efficiency and performance of a jet engine?

    • @AutoIgnite-b8g
      @AutoIgnite-b8g 10 дней назад

      1. Aerodynamic Efficiency: Turbines and compressors are designed to optimize airflow. The shape and arrangement of the blades are meticulously engineered to minimize air resistance and maximize pressure changes, which leads to efficient combustion and power generation. 2. Material Selection: The materials used in the construction of turbines and compressors can withstand high temperatures and pressures. Advanced materials like titanium and nickel alloys ensure durability and performance under extreme conditions, thus enhancing overall engine efficiency. 3. Cooling Mechanisms: Effective cooling systems are integrated into turbine design to manage the intense heat generated during operation. This prevents overheating and ensures sustained performance without compromising engine integrity. 4. Blade Geometry and Number: The number and geometry of the blades in turbines and compressors influence the compression ratio and thrust produced. Optimizing these factors ensures that the engine can achieve higher efficiency and better performance with less fuel consumption. 5. Advanced Manufacturing Techniques**: Precision manufacturing techniques, like 3D printing and precision casting, allow for the creation of complex blade shapes and designs that were not possible before. These advancements contribute to more efficient air compression and energy extraction. In summary, the design of turbines and compressors directly affects how well a jet engine can convert fuel into thrust while maintaining efficiency and reliability. The more sophisticated the design, the better the engine performs.

    Why do mechanics hate engineers?

      It might be because some engineering designs don't consider ease of maintenance or repair, which can frustrate mechanics.

    One of the many reasons why EVs are better because we don't have to live with a complete engine change in between 6 to 12 years. People might revert to changing the whole vehicle, but cars are supposed to be designed for longevity. Who invests so much money in a contraption that costs a few years of their salary and still expect them to be trashed earlier than 20 years?

      While the longevity of EVs is indeed a great advantage, there are a few more points to consider. First, traditional vehicles often need significant maintenance and part replacements as they age, which can be costly and inconvenient. EVs, on the other hand, have fewer moving parts, which generally means less maintenance and fewer chances of major breakdowns. Additionally, the environmental benefits of EVs are substantial. By reducing emissions, EVs help to combat climate change and improve air quality. The long-term cost savings on fuel and the potential for government incentives can also make EVs a financially smart choice in the long run. Of course, there's also the excitement of being part of the transition to a more sustainable future. Investing in an EV is not just about the practical benefits; it's also about supporting the technological advancements that can shape a better world. 👍

      Todays cars are meant to last 10 years. With all the technology which is failure prone, it doesn't matter if EV or gas, the electronics and computers will fail costing more than the car is worth.

    This is why we have brake fluid and special oil and grease for rubber. It's been known for years. anything else will eat the rubber away . And how long have they been making cars?

      @bigbadtree, it seems like cars have been in the repair shop longer than we've been around! 😂 But yes, some people still need a quick course in 'Vehicle Care 101.' Brake fluid, special oil, and grease for rubber aren't just luxuries; they're golden rules for any mechanic. 😅🚗

      @DW-HX1XM, designers seem to have decided to take an unconventional route! Sometimes grand creations come from moments of madness or frustration. 😅🎨 Let's hope for some genius hidden between the folds! 😂

      @AutoIgnite-b8g but at who's cost? I no ford's are getting a bad name again. But you wouldn't buy a ford for it's engineering. Something ford has never been great at. More like combustion engine's are finished so designers have let the idiots in. Let's hurry up and get hydrogen fuel working.
