Pacific Prelude

Добавлен 18 мар 2017
The Prelude was nicknamed Mako back when it was blue. Since it's green now, I had to change the nickname to something that would make sense. Now it's Moco, Spanish for "booger".

Installing A Mishimoto Shift Knob
I got a Mishimoto shift knob for Mako and didn't exactly think things all the way through in terms of fitment. Watch me tear apart the center console for a clean fitment.

Replacing the Air Intake Hose - 5th Gen Prelude
Просмотров 2,7 тыс.4 года назад
I found a tear in my air intake hose and thought that maybe that is what was causing some laggy throttle response when starting in first gear. Watch me replace it. Replacing Spark Plugs - 5th Gen Prelude
Просмотров 4,3 тыс.4 года назад
How to change the spark plugs and wires on a fifth generation Honda Prelude. Even if the packaging says pre-gapped, verify with a gap tool!
Lmfaoooo the performance bolt. Easy 20hp I’d say
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for the video!
Will this fit a 4th gen?
Make , model , year
I wouldn’t use any anti seize on the threads the ngk plugs come with a coating on the threads and it’s says on thier website to not use it
Had my car in the shop for something else and they offered to tape the massive hole in the hose or replace it with the last one in North america. If they can't get the last hose my car is "a junker" 🙄 thanks for the video, nice clear shots I'll be doing this myself 👍
So when I tried to pull my pcv valve I bro😬😬😬
If you still have it? How has it been holding up? Needing to seriously flush mine
Nice video, just installed mine after weeks of contemplating because I didn’t want to mess anything up lol. Mine was completely cracked almost in half
Where do you get the parts online
Heads up, there's a couple spots your supposed to add Honda Bond or Permatex Ultra Grey on the gasket
Where would that exactly be?
If it’s a quality gasket, you shouldn’t need any silicone at all. Just did my gasket a year ago and used no silicone whatsoever. Not one drop.
Get a shift collar. It will take up the rest of the space.
I’d just get a hybrid racing short throw shifter it improves the experience and looks good without a boot
The air intake hose on my '01 recently tore just like yours and I found your video. Many thanks! Your music is fun and the effects (lightning and "whoo hoo!") are great! I had a blast watching. Now I'm aware of the lower MPG, too. Found an new OEM for $85.00. Thanks again! P.S. Get that kid some shop coveralls!
Does anyone know the prelude air intake hose are fit for Accord Cl1 or not, CL1 and prelude also use H22A
Isn't there a drain plug on the back of the engine? Thats what my 4th gen manual says.
Yeah, I have a 4th Gen was hoping to find a video specific to it. It seems like it's spraying onto my engine or something
It’s oil on it when you plugged out the first one, you need to replace gasket seal
I did replace the gaskets in a later video 👍🏽
@@pacificprelude4913 what gaskets did you replace
Using American car coolant? 😬 And did you even use the bleeder valve to make sure air isn’t in it? It should be right on the thermostat housing.
Try something new if you're into weighted shiftknob.. Wearelikewise is having a great deals now..go under discontinued items..HURRY ! Free shipping for US$100 purchase worldwide
Thank you
You need to buy an adaptor you can get it off Amazon. It really helps fill in the gap
Hey bro where can I get that gasket parts from?
Got mine from AutoZone
Mine came opened with one of the adapters already plugged in -_- and it was all scratched up with paint missing, looks like they repackage these used at full price... very bad quality control.
What is that spring called. The one that seals the filter
The one that almost took his finger off? : )
Don’t use FelPro ever when working with Honda’s!!!!
I don't know where people get this wrong information from, literally all over the internet. NEVER use anti seize on NGK spark plugs. NGK's came in the prelude from the factory and anti seize is never used on them, for a reason. Here you go: ngksparkplugs.com/en/resources/5-things-you-should-know-about-spark-plugs#:~:text=NGK%20spark%20plugs%20are%20installed,and%2For%20metal%20shell%20stretch.&text=Do%20not%20use%20anti%2Dseize%20or%20lubricant%20on%20NGK%20spark%20plugs. I have never use anti seize on my lude and have never had a single problem. Just make sure you torque to the right setting and you are good to go. Other than that, good video. Just throw out the lube ;)
So did you have any problems With the ground wire for the valve cover? Do I have to sand the paint for the ground wire or does that matter? I painted my cover and forgot to tape off the ground wire.
I didn’t mask or sand the spot for the ground wire and I haven’t had any issues so you shouldn’t have to.
@@pacificprelude4913 awesome!
Hi, I just recently bought a prelude for my first car and wanted to ngk spark plugs for it (just doing regular maintenance). Where did you purchase your ngk sparkplugs? I don't want to get the wrong ones or even fake or fake ones.
Great choice for a first car, you're a smart man. I purchased mine through O'Reilly Auto since I get a small discount through work. Pep Boys is also a good place to find them. The NGK part number for the plugs I used is ZFR6FGP. The NGK wire set is 8019. The wires have been hard to find lately since I also changed them on my '89 Prelude and I had to special order those.
01:05, that isn't a ground wire. It is a positive wire for your alternator. It gets ground through its mounting to the engine block. And I bet you had to replace the 100ampo fuse since you arced out the positive alternator cable to ground.....
Nice vid! Good angles and well explained.
wife said i have to interact with the kid unfortunately ill brb lol
I want to do this my Prelude. I can even skip the whole paint removal as for some reason my paint has already been peeling away. I have just wiped most of it away with my hand every time I lift up my hood. =D
Just got a Project Lude, great video
I think you turn on the heat and fans to get all the coolant out of the heater core.
the harness is for the Coin light! (Yes it may be burn out and you can replace it)
The head gasket replacement seems soo easy! Why are mechanics charging over thousands of $ just for simple replacement? You only take off engine top then replace seal and put back and you're done!
I think it costs if it goes while driving and then warps the cyliner head which then needs skimming. I had it happen and it cost me £200+ just to test it to see if it was warped. Not on my prelude though!
@@sjpidd oof... Yeah I wouldn't really do it myself but dang! I don't wanna cough up hundreds for that replacement. But better safe than sorry?
It's not a head gasket replacement, but a valve cover gasket replacement video. The former is much more involved and requires the retiming of the engine as the head of the engine is actually separated from the block.
this is not the head gasket. this is the valve cover gasket(rectangular one) and the tops of the spark plug wells are the o-rings he puts in. head gaskets are much harder to get to thats why they cost more
do you need the glue for this gasket or can you do it without it?
Yes, you need the silicone to prevent it from slipping around or falling out when you flip it over to put the cover back on.
Thank you for this tutorial. Helped me out alot! Apreciate it🤘
That looks really good. I think you should bring it to cars and coffee one of these days so I can see it!
Thanks! I'm actually going to pick the color for the paint job this weekend. It is currently in no shape for a car meet with all the primer on the body. 😂
@@pacificprelude4913 ha ha. I get it. I look for a 5th gen prelude each day just to see what’s out there.
Bro how much time took you to do all this? I need to do same to my Prelude
It took me about a day. After sanding the cover, I rinsed off the outside with a hose and let it dry for a couple hours because I wanted to make sure there wasn't any moisture on the surface before I primed it. I sprayed clear coat and let it dry overnight so I wouldnt scratch it when reinstalling it. If you're just replacing the gasket and not painting the cover, it shouldn't take you too long to pop off the old gasket and glue the new one in.
@@pacificprelude4913 thanks for writing back bro👍👌
that "thing" is called the flex pipe.
Did you clean the inside of the valve cover at all at the end? I’m worried about metal specs from sanding getting in there
I taped the holes from the inside and I blew out all the dust before spraying the primer. I didn't wipe the inside because I wasn't sure if that was okay to do or if it's better to leave a layer of oil inside the cover. As you can see, the inside of the cover was very clean with no sludge so I decided to not wipe it off.
Pacific Prelude thanks a ton for the info What about where the engine seals to the oil pan? Like the left over gasket on the engine side.. just scrape? I used a rotary wire brush and it’s like brand new looking Just worries about the specs I think once I put the pan back on... I’ll put some oil in and drain it then fill al the way... idk... precautions haha
Pacific Prelude also I saw somebody use WD-40 to clean the Inside of the oil pan out.. but said NOT brake cleaners or degreasers
@@azvasamusic7095 I didn't clean the inside with anything. I left it as it was just because it was clean oil.
4:40 thank you for the warning, found out about that the hard way for us?
Exactly 😉
