Ice Climbing "The Eagle" in the North Ghost (AB Canada)
This is my pinkpoint of The Eagle in the North Ghost (Valley of the Birds) on Feb 22, 2024. It was my first attempt at lead climbing a WI5 grade ice climb. My friend Lachlan initially lead the route and then I top roped it before going for the pinkpoint attempt. Next step is to do a proper lead of a WI5 while placing my own protection, a task that is significantly harder!
This is in the North Ghost public wilderness area, which has a somewhat tricky access road with 3 river crossings. Accessing the climb requires climbing a fair bit of easy approach ice and following a canyon until The Eagle comes into view. Took us about 45 minutes from the truck. We were able to top rope the route by bri...

Fresh Landslide that ripped through this forest only hours before
Просмотров 593 года назад
Triggered by a torrential downpour the previous night, a landslide high up in the mountains above this location caused debris to come down, slamming through the forest and carving a new creek channel that never existed before. The landslide was spotted by helicopter while flying over Twintree Lake in Jasper Alberta. We landed to check it out and this is some of the footage I took. This occurred...

I took my bear spray out and then filmed as I tried to talk to it calmly. Please subscribe! Instagram: @mrbobbymak (For licensing or usage, contact licensing@viralhog.com)

I live in Jasper National Park just on the Columbia Icefield, and I can't begin to explain how cautious I get walking from my house to work in the mornings and vice versa in the evenings. I have an app on my phone that lets me see what wildlife people have photographed recently in my GPS location, and on the regular it's things like bull moose, grizzlies, mountain lions, wolf packs, wolverines, elk and coyotes. Worst of all, though: rattlesnakes.

Apparently thats what you do with them, talk softly calmly to them, and let them know where you are and slowly give way a bit, don't run or they will just chase you. And with black bears you have to be more forceful in your demeanor and language to them, still talking and letting them know where you are and give way if need be. Saw this in an intructual video, it made sense.
