Harmonica Solos for "Saskatchewan in 1881"
Просмотров 490Месяц назад
This tutorial goes over how to play the solos on "Saskatchewan in 1881," the live version from Colter's Austin City Limits taping (link to video below). This is a fun one to play and solo over, as it's pretty much a twelve bar blues and therefore right up harmonica alley. Grab an F harp and follow along with the tab below! However, Charlie's instrumental recording (initially released in 1968) would, after a couple of years and some record label runarounds, beco...

    I'm a huge fan of Terry McMillan and he was the reason why I wanted to play the harmonica. I wish you'd do more tutorials on his stuff because there's not a lot of videos on him compared to Charlie McCoy except for his solo gospel stuff. I was introduced to you from my teacher/friend, Todd Parrott a long time ago. He was also incredibly influenced by Terry and has been my mentor for two years now. However I have a minor complaint, this song doesn't use a country tuned harmonica. For the higher bits, he uses a key of Low E harmonica in first position and for second position, it's a richter tuned harmonica in A playing the major pentatonic and mixolydian scales.

      @jakegrovesharmonica 2 месяца назад

      @@goldenteledy2002 thanks for checking out the channel! Todd is one of my favorite players around today. I will definitely do more Terry McMillan videos in the future. I did say in the video that he plays it on an A and Low E. I just don’t own a Low E so I was working with what I had. Happy harpin!
