I'm curious as to how you all found Grouper? I was listening to some easy listening collection album of various artists. All the artists were very standard sounding except when I heard the track from Grouper and I was blown away.

To me this song is about accepting that nobody ever really could love you. That realizing that this huge, bullshit game hallmark make up to sell cards called 'love' is just a waste of time. That trying to find someone who loves you has done nothing but made people uncomfortable and made you look like a creep. That the idea of having someone who loves you and makes you feel meaningful is just a delusional fantasy inspired by social norms and the way love is portrayed on TV. That having someone who will never make you feel like you need to sacrifice your own self-respect in order to survive is impossible. That the words 'I love you' having legitimate meaning and invoking legitimate emotions will eventually become impossible. Eventually, they will become a heavy ball-and-chain that wears you down, and reminds you of how much your brain has been subconsciously reprogrammed to deal with them. That you've gotten so used to their mere presence feeling like an unskippable cutscene. An immediate subconscious forfeit of all freedom. That you've become so used to mindlessly barking sentences that used to carry actual meaning, like 'I love you too' and 'today was good' and 'thank you' and 'bless you'. That there's no point in having someone left to lose. No point in becoming vulnerable. To aspire to become strong and hard and independent and cold and distant... Aspiring to kill the softer and more happy side of you, out of fear that will do nothing except hurt you. "Oh beautiful poison tree, let your power grow in me. TW RANT (depression/ sewerslide etc.) this is what depression feels like. Its like a heavy dark background noise that eventually takes over you body like poison. For two years my parents let me deal with that. They knew that i wanted to kms but just thought i was getting better because i didn't tell anybody. Even my school councelor just gave me a list of what i could do instead of actually helping me. I wanted to kms a month ago. My parents treated me like an actual human being and made me feel loved after my new councelor informed them. I got medication and a diagnosis. My parents forgot my medecation on vaication and i got rly pissy at the end because the effect of the medecation had worn off. They went off on me and something ill never forget that they said is "Youve lived without medecation and you were fine". No I wasn't and with this I don't think I ever will be. I am under the age of eighteen and still in a pretty low grade in skl and i had to deal with all of this bullshit. I don't want this life.

It feels like after you cry/let it out it feels like you/me empty from the inside and depressed from the outside :/
