The disorder began, and is perpetuated, by the 100's of millions of violent crimes committed since prohibition, including the sexual abuse of 10's of millions of American children, all attributable to the drug of choice of our leaders who enforced it as a monopoly over God's creation, then taught that traumatized mass of children for 3 generations that they were abnormal criminals for consuming cannabis, as well as denied the right to compete with the alcohol druggies destroying the nation in the "drug-free" workplaces that hired only the alcohol druggies. It is also perpetuated by the "experts" who refuse to acknowledge that the alcoholic and codependent are still waging war on God's creation, as well as the traumatized victims of the nation's drunken debauchery for consuming it. If you are not accounting for the mass mental health damage this has done to millions, damage often attributed to the cannabis by the alcoholics and codependents in denial and projecting onto their victims, any studies are probably tainted. Considering such a massive portion of the population has been affected by these prime causes of PTSD and other stress disorder that damage the brain, it is doubtful you could ever make a distinction, especially since much of the psychological damage inflicted on those is subconsciously hidden.

Why are recipients rights violations to be reported directly to the facilities violating the rights? This does not make any sense.

I especially am enjoying this section on “ Why I like being a peer.” I share my struggles and provide an example how I deal with them. Opportunities to share hope and healing ❤️‍🩹. As a retiree I will enter back into the workforce to do this work at the VA. Finally qualified for the training program in Michigan. As for salary my hope is to manage the money 💰 well. At 67 my goal is to share the depth of my experience with those who are interested and be helpful in the best possible ways. Thank you for sharing

Are there growth opportunities for Peer Specialists? My bipolar disorder led to a 20-month incarceration, but my prior career was sales / account management for FinTech orgs. The CPS role seems like a way out of the menial labor jobs I'm now facing (retail), but is there anywhere to go in the field beyond the role and $17 / hour? I like the idea of the job, I just hope there's a possibility to build a life on the salary.

Oh sure, another person to blame the pancreas or the cells for "not working right". How about we start blaming the 20 years of hyperinsulinemia from lots of processed carbs/ sweeteners and a lack of exercise... (fasting insulin w/ C-peptide was never measured, only focused on glucose. If we stop waiting until the glucose finally climbs to abnormal levels, we could actually PREVENT & wouldn't be in such a disaster.)

Thank you again for keeping comments enabled. I urge OCHN to continue to reevaluate your budget and make sure the $1.00 wage increase for DSPs is reinstated alongside the $0.85 MDHHS passthrough. Oakland County has been the benchmark for supports in Michigan but supports are only as good as the workforce.

First, I appreciate the OCHN RUclips admin for allowing comments here. However unregulated, I think it is a good way to allow for engagement of the community. Not to mention, the higher engagement here, the more your meetings/videos will populate people's suggested videos filter. I will make sure to state it again - OCHN has done a great deal for the community and the folks it serves and the DSP wage decision muddy's the messaging the current leadership has done so well to clarify over the past few years. DSPs keep services going. Oakland County is lucky to have such a wide array of high quality and high standard of services and we owe those outcomes to the DSPs. Please reconsider your decision to use the MDHHS $0.85 DSP wage passthrough as means to adjust your commitment to the workforce and reinstate the $1.00 wage increase. We as admins in a system leave the sector and lives aren't at risk. DSPs leave the sector and the risk is exclusively on the physical and mental health of the folks we all serve.

I want to thank OCNH leadership and the OCHN board for their support of the DSP wage increase. It goes without saying that it is long overdue and it's a shame that the critical role of a DSP still isn't respected, on a state level, to the degree it deserves to be. I trust that OCHN will honor the $16/hr DSP wage in the future when the Covid-19 hazard pay supplemental funds are no longer within the state budget. Lastly, I would suggest adding chapters to your CoW and Board Meeting videos in order to increase views and engagement.
