    In the UK a good chunk of the music teachers are just how you described in this video. It means that so many students with great potential and love for music don’t progress because they aren’t being given the tools to excel, and sometimes as you say given the wrong advice which harms them or holds them back. I had very poor piano technique and stunted development due to taking music lessons from teachers provided by local schools, many of them for whom piano was their second instrument and not their principle study. Then I started with a conservatoire piano professor at age 17 who got me to relearn my entire technique and approach to the piano - barely a few years later I was playing advanced repertoire I had always dreamed of playing, with much more accuracy, natural movements and less tension and pain than before. I was very grateful but also angry that I had been held back for so long, some of my previous teachers even just claimed that I wasn’t improving because I wasn’t practicing enough!

    The greatest problem for the technique is a bad PASSIVE flexibility of the fingers (side and "overstreching"). The sad true is, that exercises don't help. It was your teacher Kämmerling, who looked at the hands of very young children, wheather it makes sense to choose the piano as instrument (I saw this on TV many years ago). And he was right.

    Sorry, aber der erste Teil des Präludiums klingt einfach zu mechanisch - wie bei so vielen Pianisten. Die gleiche Figuration ist eben nicht immer gleich, je nach harmonischer Funktion etc. Das verlangt eine differenziertere Artikulation und ein gelegentliches ganz kurzes Stehenbleiben auf wichtigen Noten. In solchen barocken Figuren neigt das moderne Klavier sowieso zu einem etwas indifferenten "Klappern". Das Presto kann man so machen, allerdings macht dieses Tempo eine differenzierte Behandlung einzelner Töne unmöglich. Wenn schon, dann ganz verrückt: Tiffany Poon nimmt Viertel = 176.....Wenn schon das falsche Instrument, dann ist es ja eh eine Bearbeitung, und dann kann man machen, was man will - auch eine Betrachtungsperspektive. Über Deine technische Souverenität muss man nicht diskutieren !

    • @aaron_pilsan
      @aaron_pilsan 2 месяца назад

      inwiefern klappert das Klavier mehr als ein Cembalo beispielsweise?

    • @DanielUngermann
      @DanielUngermann 2 месяца назад

      @@aaron_pilsan Die Cembalomechanik schlägt nicht auf die Saite, sie reisst die Saite an. Das ergibt einen feinen, brillanten, sehr obertonreichen Klang. Ein modernes Klavier ist sehr obertonarm und notabene für einen grossen Legatoklang entwickelt worden. Spielt man Bachs motorische Sätze mit diesem "Nicht-ganz-legato-Anschlag" längere Zeit gleichmässig, gibt es diesen klappernden, perkussiven Klangeindruck- Gleichmässigkeit ist der Tod von Barockmusik, durchgehende Sechzehntel dürfen nie motorisch klingen.. Hätte Bach für den modernen Flügel geschrieben, hätte er garantiert andere Noten hingeschrieben. Spielt man Bach nun auf einem modernen Flügel, muss man - NB genau wie auch auf dem Cembalo - die Gleichmässigkeit (aber immer der Musikdramaturgie folgend) überall dort zu durchbrechen versuchen, wo es möglich und sinnvoll ist. Auch ein (guter !) Cembalist ändert ständig den Grad der Artikulation. Heutige Menschen, die Jazz und Pop gewohnt sind, stören sich offensichtlich nicht an der Perkussivität in Bachs Musik - die Musiker im Barock hätte es fürchterlich gestört, siehe z. B. Quantz u.a.

  • @VeraLiseIhm
    @VeraLiseIhm 2 месяца назад

    So true. Most people lack routine, which is why they don't use their time effectively and, worse, they feel effort in doing so. If you constantly have to plan how to juggle everything each day, then the planning itself becomes stressful. However, if you are accustomed to doing something and get used to routines, you have much more time and more energy during that time. Goals are absolutely important. If you live only in the here and now, your inner slacker has plenty of room to attack. But if you have overarching goals, you can place them between yourself and the slacker. This way, you derive long-term joy from the instrument and not just short-term fun. I have a 40-hour office job and practice 3-4 hours daily, more on weekends.

    • @aaron_pilsan
      @aaron_pilsan 2 месяца назад

      how have you tried to solve the problem with routine so far? and what are your challenges atm?

    • @VeraLiseIhm
      @VeraLiseIhm 2 месяца назад

      @@aaron_pilsan Yes. I am usually in the office from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This makes the day feel quite fragmented. When I started playing more frequently (e.g., in competitions), I developed the habit of going to work at 7:00 AM and leaving at 3:00 PM. After work, I relax for 1-2 hours and then begin with the simplest exercises to warm up (e.g., Hanon). I do this intentionally. After work, one often feels tired, but practicing the piano is a different kind of mental activity, and usually, once you get into the rhythm, you still have the energy for it. Therefore, I try not to start immediately with something cognitively demanding but begin with something repetitive like Hanon and wait until my brain "wakes up" and feels ready to practice. I spend idle times when I have nothing else to do, such as waiting for the tram, reading sheet music. This works very well for me. One must be very clear about what one wants from the piano, then thoroughly consider how much time that requires, and then think about whether it can be integrated into daily life. By doing this, you avoid the risk of having unrealistic expectations that inevitably cannot be met with the practice time you put in. Conversely, you have a time block that you know you must keep free every day to meet your expectations. If you know, "for the things I want to do, I need at least 3 hours of practice time each day," then you have the opportunity to structure your day accordingly in the long term. What doesn't work is having a lot of time in phases and believing that you can accomplish larger projects in the long run that way. I am currently learning Beethoven's 3rd concerto because I have the opportunity to play it with an orchestra. A very good teacher is essential, as lessons help break down the tasks into manageable time segments (from lesson to lesson). And even there, it doesn't work without regularity. Compared to the amateurs I've recently met, I am just a „Baby“. But I like to observe what's possible when one practices effectively and with focus on time management. These people inspire me greatly. And the main takeaway from these observations is that consistency is key, and you can only achieve that with routines so that it doesn't feel exhausting.

    i think this is a general problem of our western education system, which is at this time not so good. Parents dont care about the quality of the teacher its just a stupid "hobby". I hate this word. That doesnt happen in China and it did not happen in Sowjetunion/Russia. There children get high quality education in Mathematics, Music, Ballett, Arte...which of course is very demanding.
