Melbourne Orlando International Airport was originally just called Melbourne International Airport. The airport officials first renamed it Orlando Melbourne International Airport because they wanted to associate it with Orlando and adding Orlando to the existing signs was very easy to do. They were sued by the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority for using Orlando at the start of the name since the airport is 87 miles from Orlando. That's when they renamed it Melbourne Orlando International Airport. The locals still just call it Melbourne International Airport. All that being said, despite the distance from Orlando, it is still a very good choice for Orlando bound travelers because it is relatively small and quick for passengers to deplane, collect their luggage and clear passport control and customs (Yes, at this airport you college your luggage before passport control). Rental cars are located directly outside the airport door. You literally can be in your hired car and on the way to your destination 30 minutes after leaving the airplane.

Great video m8,We just flew TUI a few weeks back there from Glasgow to Melbourne and back,At one point on the way home we got to an altitude of 41 thousand feet and the highest speed I saw was 796 mph,I personally didn’t know the Dreamliner could go that fast,

The comment about virgin at the end if you don't want delays. I've flown virgin to orlando for the past 3 years all of which wetr delayed at least 2 hrs. Delays effect all airlines regardless of scheduled or chartered.

Since I lived in Melbourne 30 years I can tell you that Melboune Reginal Airport was renamed Melbourne International Airport in the late 1980s. I have no clou why it now is called Melbourne Orlando International Airport since Melbourne is on the east coast and Orlando approx 35 miles away in the center of the state.

I absolutely love this little airport! It is quite a gem! With this being here, I don't have to use Orlando International Airport about 60 or so miles away. I come to Melbourne, Florida every June for my annual summer one week vacation here. Melbourne is very close to the beachside community of Satellite Beach, Florida. I lived there from 1969 to 1971 as a child in elementary school when my late father was in the Air Force. We lived in the old Patrick Air Force Base south housing units which is in Satellite Beach, meaning the base itself. In previous years when I went there, I used Orlando International Airport and stayed in Kissimmee, Florida because I had no idea that Melbourne had its own airport. So it took me like an hour to drive out to Satellite Beach from Kissimmee back then. Now that I stay in Melbourne, I can drive to Satellite Beach from there in a matter of minutes! Yes, both baggage check-in and TSA security is very quick at this airport being it is nowhere near as crowded as the other major larger airports like Orlando, LAX, Chicago O'Hare, and the like. Not as many airlines operate out of here like at the bigger airports. No they do have the monitors to look at like the much larger airports do for arrival and departure information. But when you get or already have your boarding pass, you just go to your gate and either they will tell you or it is listed there. Even the rental car counter lines when you land and pick up your car are relatively short unless there is a crush during the busy holidays like Thanksgiving or Christmas. It is just not as hectic and easy to navigate your way around there due to its size as I mentioned. This is a nice video. I hope you liked using MLB!

Sometimes before flying I feel very nervous, but this guy's voice just seems to calm me down in a way that other airlines don't... very good airline!

MLB departures are all sorted now - more shops & plenty of seating - flew from there to UK 2 weeks ago - 3 x TUI 787's left in an hour & MLB handled that no problem

this brings back memories of when i last flew easyjet. Probably my favouite low cost airline and WAAAYYY better than ryan air

Flown both Easyjet and Ryanair. Easyjet is the better plane in terms of service and travel comfort. Did have a very questionable hygiene-related tray table incident during the 2020 pandemic. Other than that, they were good. 7/10.

there is big catch for landing at Melbourne...it's nowhere near Orlando, despite having Orlando in it's title; the move from Sanford has DOUBLED the distance (about 75 miles I think) to where the majority of TUI customers go; there's only one reason I believe TUI chose MLB, that is cheaper landing fees; next trip to Florida I take will definitely NOT be with TUI I'm sorry to say because of this, it's just too far away, even with the benefit of being a much quieter airport, and easier transit through compared to MCO (and I used to think SFB was far enough)
