4:55 you lose your clip! If you're gonna do that, I wouldn't use a clip, I'd use a reusable heavy gage zip tie, or a velcro for cable management.
Good idea
Have you had any issues with the joystick freezing up? How's the shear pins? The worst part of the Honda blowers, in my opinion you have a tank but the smallest pins in the market.
I sheared one so far. Don’t know what I did but I was doing a smaller snow and saw a ridge on one side. Then checked and sure enough…sheared pin. I do recall joystick being unresponsive a few times
This wheel kit is no longer available. Hondo now only offer 1 4wheel kit for the EU3000 & its 4 fixed wheels.
Hmm, thanks for the info. Don’t know why they’d discontinue this one
I owned a 1997 John Deere STX 38 and wondered about those hydraulic valve lifters
Yeah I didn’t even know it had them until putting it together. I guess it didn’t dawn on me when there was no adjustment on the rockers 😁
Got a wheel 28. 2005. Kick ass machine . Nothing like a Honda blower. Nothing.
They are there when you need em
Looks like it just swallows the snow drift.
Yes
I have the same blower. It will move a lot of snow and I’ve never plugged it. Downside is 7 levers and only 2 hands! Also not as maneuverable as my old Deere 826 wheel machine.
Yes it definitely has a learning curve with all those levers
Great machine 👍 I have a Honda HSS724, this monster of a snowblower has never let me down in our Canadian winters, it is more efficient than my previous MTD 28” 9hp blower, I always use highest octane gas with fuel stabilizer in all my small engines.
In Canada, do you have ethanol in your gas too?
@ Yes we do, that the reason I have to use higher octane grade because it has less or no ethanol, As a matter of fact only Shell claims it’s high octane contains no ethanol. I don’t know how true is that lately.
@@vrod1a same here. Although we have a chain of gas stations here that have 87 no ethanol now
I'm having same issues with my cub cadet lt1040
Hmm, maybe it could be a similar problem
@wisconsinsmallenginenut what I'm thinking from your video. Sounds pretty similar to what your describing in this video. Thanks
loves a full bucket. Put that thing to work as I do and have a HSS928
Yes! And I'm gonna try out larger gets next big storm we get!
Watching a different channel I discovered that gasoline jelllies in fuel filters if it is cold enough. I wonder if changing it would help ?
I wanna say I put a new filter on. Not sure if it will be shown by the end of this series. I shot this video in Spring.
Surprised it wouldn’t just go thru. I own a 1332 but my driveways on incline. Maybe that’s why
It will pretty much go through anything, it's the snow that comes over the top that I don't like. Maybe some drift breakers would be nice
Very well-explained and demonstrated! Thanks. 🇨🇦
Thank you!
How does it handle wet slushy snow? Chute get clogged? No heated hand grips or fuel gauge at this price point or hour meter on the 28 inch model is a joke.
I've not had a problem with mine in slush, I did a video on sloppy, slushy snow with water underneath. Check out that video. Mine has the fuel gauge but they got rid of it on newer models.
Those are some serious snow drifts! I ordered a 928 this morning.
Why didn't you order the HSS1332ATD? 😂 I've been debating between the two myself.
@shanew7361 isn't that like $1000 more?
@@toddb930 I hear a lot of people saying the 1332 is the way to go, mostly based off of power. I got new jets for my 928 that I'm gonna experiment with during our next big storm. I'll video all of it and get it on my channel. I want how it performs with stock main jet and then after. I'll see if the larger size main makes a difference
@@wisconsinsmallenginenut I'm wondering if I'll need to change the jet since I'm at 5000' altitude.
I'm debating between the Ariens PLATINUM 28 RAPIDTRAK SHO Model #921057 or the Honda HSS928ATD. I get wet slushy snow at times, too, and my current two stage Simplicity Snow Away 7 gets clogged, and I'm tired of it. I did think about buying a single stage for the slushy heavy snow also. Any thoughts or recommendations?
Mine works well, but I do hear of other people having clogging issues with the Honda. Seems like if you feed it fast enough, it will spit it out and not clog. The Ariens is a good machine too
I have the same and it loves a full bucket. Throws it farther
Up next, comparing Grandpa's push mower to your John Deere riding mower. 😂😂😂
Yes!
Just aquired one for free.. needs a new combination relay... to fix intermittent starting issues... well engineered for sure.👍🤠
Great machine!
Great video!
Thank you!
The black flap behind the unit is made to be tucked inside
Ok, I’ll let him know. Thank you
I see comments pointing it out, of course the Honda is bigger but Honda's don't get much smaller either, even if you could find one the same size it's still gonna be better. Add to that the 928 is known as the worst performing Honda of them all too with the smaller carb jet's, and who's gonna pay you to get a Honda the size of that Yardman? Taking that into consideration, all in all this is honestly as fair a comparison as it's ever gonna get considering the Honda's most people have (928 approaching the minimum size now anyway). Just get a used 928, use it and maintain it correctly and you have a machine that'll last you. Yes you could get a Yardmax or Ariens or w/e, and use up 3-4 of them, but when it fails, which it will, it's gonna fail when you need it the most.. In the middle of winter, in a blizzard, when snowblower prices are soaring, glhf with that. Quality blower means it's gonna keep an exit open for you, people getting into their 60's and 70's, especially living with a wife, one or both bumping into one or two health problems, will know exactly what I'm getting at here: When you're young you can be stingy and learn the lesson the hard way, when you're in advanced years you can't screw around anymore.
Well said. I do wanna try increasing the jet size on mine. I should get it ordered so I have it when I get a storm that will make the Honda work
Honestly I'd just run as is, at a slower speed if required. At any rate I've learned a lot about these Honda's thx to people like you, now I'm informed and know what I can expect, thanks for this. Blew up a Briggs last week, friction drive only worked at higher speeds, has got to be tracked Honda so I can ride it over berms and chew them away bit by bit. I can't afford a brand new one but now I know which one I want, 970 is what they're sold as here in Norway, you guys know it as the Canadian version of the 928.
It's nice watching this cuz I have the same blower but it has never been used cuz I have a guy come and use his blower which is easier since I'm 80 years old but it's there if I need it.
Good backup to have then 😃
I keep hearing one pull Hondas, I’ve never had that happen. Snow blower and lawn mower takes several pulls to start with regular maintenance etc.
Yeah maybe one pull warm Hondas 😄
That machine looks brand new. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for watching!
Fellow HSS928ATD owner here. Give some thought to fitting a pair of drift cutters. You'll have an easier time of it, and the blower will make a better showing of itself for the sake of posting videos on YT. Honda-branded cutters are available at your local pro OPE dealer, or online. There's also the Husqvarna drift cutters, which are adjustable via wing nuts and are also a confirmed fit. Just a suggestion.
Yeah I think that would help me out tremendously. Good suggestion. I get drifts almost every winter
Saved me time and energy, thank you
Thanks for watching!
I have the same machine and just love it, I also drive a full electric vehicle and live in eastern Canada and have some pretty nasty cold weather, The last time I checked the battery on my car is not quite the same as a cheap go-pro and is doing quite well driving in the winter.
Yeah but the lithium batteries in cars are affected in a similar way. It will drain faster in cold weather. Just how they work
Thanks for the tip on the skid shoes! My 928 only came with the rear skids and will add the fronts for more protection
Yeah for me, it helps on the uneven part of my driveway. Not sure why they put different ones on between the tracked and wheeled models
Funny, I have the same Stihl blower and a Honda HS 928. Both are great!
I like mine 👍🏻
Asbestos you were handling there at 35:00
Mmm, that’s good for you 😁
what engine is in the 4518? if it's the gx360, what did they do to get more power, assuming the '18' is the power? i had a 3813 back in the day. worked great except the stupid clutch delay eventually drove me to a hydrostatic.and the open diff caused some problems at certain points on my property. do not regret that decision one bit.
The 4518 has a gx640, the 4514 has the gc360
Gx*
GX640 as said by other commenter. Generally wider deck on these, and 18 hp
You'st a little info. You should not engage the drive lever unless the hydrostat is in neutral. The you adjust hydrostat. When shifting from forward to reverse ore reverse to forward you should always stopp i frew seconds in neutral to avoid damage to the hydrostatic. Best regards from a dude in Norway.
Thank you for the info 😃
I purchased the tired version of this guy. I’m excited to fling some snow this winter.
Hopefully you will get some snow to try er out
Pretty sight to behold
Thank you
I have a 38172
Nice!
Is there a filter on transaxle?
Where did u get the carb?
Probably Amazon, I don’t remember anymore
A toddler can throw 2” of slush like that with a shovel. Maybe you could test it out on something a little more substantial?
I have several other videos on this blower, check them out. Like this one: ruclips.net/video/Pou0PILJXVU/видео.htmlsi=W1UjA8zz0-JQ7ws6
I have a Top Flight 826. What is the right carburetor for this In
I was always considering one of these Chinese snow blowers with the LCT on it just worried about parts and availability. But every new MTD is practically the same. It’s either one of these with a LCT, Snapper 1024 (which is same as Briggs 1024 which is also pure China) or a older more powerful MTD with a 8 or 10 horse Tecumseh or a 824 or 1024 Ariens to replace my clapped out worn out 5hp MTD that bogs over light snow even with it revving to the moon with the govoner by passed.
Personally I’d go with Honda or Ariens, but you can get parts for the China ones
Pretty much have to cut the grass off of it after each use. They sell a lot of the parts for this on Amazon. Before I was paying a fortune from part sites online. Pretty much will need a new mow ball each year. Works great on tall grass in the TX hill country. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching! Yeah I’m surprised at the parts I can find on Amazon. Good prices and shipping is usually free. And fast
Looking like a nasty day .wonder if you done any thing with the 928 impeller kit or lager jet or anything else?
No I did not, but I wanna try running a richer main jet
What kind of gear pulley is that? Can you provide name and brand part number anything to identify it? Thank you
Not sure, you’d have to look up the parts diagram online and get the number
The Honda snowblower is a much better product. However its widely known the Hss928 is Underpowered for what the machine is. Skip it and go for the 1332 instead
Yeah I wanna try the bigger main jet trick, see if it’s restricted like they say it is. The 928
bro tryna touch the bird poop
It’s good for you
i would link that throttle to the pedal so as the clutch goes in it also revs higher
perfect race mower
They are nice!
This model 135r I not know, the FSA135 I have it over 3 years have used and abused it over manufacturers recommendation never have a problem, wish I can say the same in regard to the batteries and I have them all from AP200 to AP500S.
I accidentally forgot mine outside in a rain we got over 3”. Works fine. It is water resistant though
@@wisconsinsmallenginenut Yes I have used mine in some rain to and also the MSA220C and the MSA300. For sure I never dumped themes in a pool of water but I did have used themes in some rain. Never have a problem so far,
