People don't know if you're not from the Netherlands. ---- But you ask for our opinion, so we give it. You asked for it. It's not mean. Of course with respect. Why would you lie if they ask for it?? For me it is just clear and I would also like it if I ask their opinion and they give it what they think. Otherwise don't ask for it. 😄
Meatball special? It's a bear claw aka bear dick, should come with peanut sauce
just straight to the point no bullshit just say it
As a non-direct dutchy, I've met so many people that are really direct, but I seriously can't be rude to people except for maybe a couple of eye rolls if someone makes a fake positive comment on me. I'm considered really sensitive by the people around me, not to mention I assume everyone's insulting me immediately. This might be because I have autism, but it might also be because of media. I like being nice, and like sugarcoating things. Dutch people are direct, but not all of them <3
The netherlands is not mean
Well, I live in Netherlands for 2 years now. The problem is not that they are direct, the problem is that they feel offended when you are direct with them, at least in my expirence.
Not rude. Straight to the point. Thanks for insulting an entire country though.
OK I like you! 🤣🤣
🧡
Honest is not rude
My American ex girlfriend always told me that I did not give her enough compliments. I just told her " hey, but when I do, at least I mean them " :-)
😂 Most Dutch are NOT rude nor direct. They are passive agressive and avoid confrontation.
My boss called me direct... It is a job I just started and I was trying to be subtle. Apparently I'm a dutch wrecking ball when I don't try to sugar coat what I say. 😂
we are not rude your a watje grow a pair.
I like the idea of if you can have the best of both worlds... caring about your friends and random people but being direct enough to not cause further misery As an American: um maybe you should If they were Dutch: your behavior is really stupid and cringe and you should stop, anyways, want to grab coffee on friday? Yes... this product is okay and we want you to buy it so we can make money
😂 hilarious brooo!!! You got this 💪🏼
roger rex, what are you doing here?!? 🤣🤣🤣
I am latina. In general, in Latin American countries, speaking in a very direct and sharp manner is considered rude. Negative feedbacks is only socially accepted if you are very close to the person. We don't like the other person to feel bad because of a word or gesture of ours. And in the specific case of women... Having very straightforward communication is not considered a feminine thing (I know it sounds sexist but this is latin american culture).
that is really cool , looking up for more adventures.....
U say im rude
I like it somehow. Once a dutch lady said she liked me, I just said she is to tall 175cm and I dont date girls over 55kgs. She totally understood.
Man, I think we can solve the climate problem by teaching Derek proper English. My god, the amount of coals he is burning with his Dunglish is insane 😂😂
I am a Taiwanese, in my culture there is a big difference between honesty and straight. Of course, we got to be honest to others, but if you simply speak out straightly is an insult to yourself and your parents, people will consider you uncivilized. I don't appreciate this Dutch way at all.
i am from te nederlands. 😢
I love it when words have got value, are a strong currency, are a contract. When a yes is a yes, and a no is a no. It makes your life more smooth, efficiënt, well organised. You can be honest, transparant and nice at the same time, - and the Dutch are very good at that balance.
ORANJE BOVEN, ORANJE BOVEN, LEVE DE KONING
Shamefully we are losing this with the teddybear culture these days... People are soft these days including in the Netherlands. The sugarcoating is getting worse and worse
Well, the Dutch people I know must be American then. We sugarcoat everything as well.
Hahaha, gewoon eerlijk,! 😂
Culture😂
The punishment should be to cycle together from Amsterdam to Weesp using the most separated cycle route
That’s like 1 hour but I would really want to watch Derek cycle a long distance 😂
wij nederlanders zijn ook de beste let your dutch friend translate this
Not rude, just direct, clear and efficient. None of that fake polite bs which is super obvious and a waste of everyones time. Honesty without sugarcoating everything is the only way to go!
Not rude, direct and honest
You guys are very kindly, keep making those videos!!!
Wel that guy trying to speak English kinds has a French accent with Netherland combined and it is kinda true we are ruder groetjes uit de Nederlandem
Rude is not the correct term. They are often too stupid to realize they are crossing boundries. Often antisocial or overly pleasing.
Franks are frank.
Im dutch :( Waaaaaa
We are Not rude. Maybe sarcastic 😂
We re not rude, we re honest, that is something else😊
Not rude….just no fuzzy beat around the bush language….
Don't cut around the bush. Say what you mean Especially in business a huge time safer In private you can be a little bit more subtle but still say what you mean positive and negative. No hard feelings
How are Dutch people rude? Have you ever met an American who's not cocky, full of himself and rude? I haven't.
Look dutch people like me are just brutally honest
We are not rude, but direct en honest. I think this is much more fair, saying what you think and more important, to the person, not behind the back. Most Dutch people will do this in a normal way with respect and not trying to hurt someone. Greetings from the Netherlands 🥰
As a Dutch person myself, I just have to point out how terrible Derek's accent is when he tries to speak English. 😁
If they ask you if their hair is okay, and it ain't, just ask them if their guinea piggy has escaped last night... If they are dutch, they than will brush their hair one more time..
We are in no way rude, we are Honest, being dishonest is RUDE, Americans are often very rude, asking how you are etc, inviting you etc, but they lie, they do not care, and do not want you to come visit, they lie in your face.. Wasting your timer, making false processes.. Now THAT is rude... be punctual, to the point, give your honest opinion when asked for it.. Do not show-off, dress-up, don't be fake friendly...
