Getting Into Orange Wines | Flight School Ep. 24
While orange wines - essentially in a category of "skin contact whites" - have been around for a very long time, they're just starting to gain popularity in the states. We've certainly seen a big uptick in orange wine sales and have stocked more and more of them accordingly. But what are they and how are they made?
In this episode of Flight School, Rob and Lily explore orange wines, tasting through a selection of a few different styles and explaining what makes them unique. If you've ever wondered about orange wines, this is a great episode to start getting into them!
Thanks to Eric Bellamy and Natural Wine Company for providing the wines and additional insights.

Bought the Leopold Bros - Aperitivo on Friday when I came in - as I like my Aperol - this is by far so much better - love the herbal bitters... Delicious.
they use those bugs on ham as well
Interesting…
20 to 50 to 100? and, they don't test it but it's rumored to be?
Yeah, I did this video in one take and I phrased that a bit poorly! What I should have said is that the stuff in Europe runs the gamut of concentrations up to 100mg per bottle, and some producers do not bother to tell you the actual concentration while others make it the main point of the brand.
He’s right unless that person is sensitive to the chemical
Secret Chemical? The drink is named after it!
"The alcohol will kill you long before the toxic chemical effects you" FTFU
The FDA has been instrumental in poisoning Americans for decades. You might as well listen to the CDC.
true unadulterated Absenth can cause hallucinations..but it's a very fine line between having drunk just enough and too much.
No, absinthe does not cause hallucinations. At least not in any special way that doesn't also apply to all other alcohol.
This is Hollywood BS. Absinthe is just a liqour of botanicals and is mostly wormwood and anise, the same things in Black Licorice. The "hallucinations" were always an allusion to the fact that Absinthe was the drink of choice on Opium dens, but the drink was NEVER a hallucinogenic. It was banned for being a possible neurotoxin, but modern distillation has made this a non-issue. The burning of the sugar cube over the glass of absinthe on a sugar spoon is quite literally a ritual alluding to boiling opium resin on a spoon into liquid form to smoke as a tar. The Opium in the Opium dens came first, the Absinthe came second, the sugar cube and "green fairy" came after both.
Why is the floor as low as I can GO?
I’ve met a few ladies who also liked being louched
Good! Unfortunately, there are still many ignorant bartenders who still use to ruin absinthe with fire (a silly practice invented recently), hopefully by watching this video they will learn something. Only note: fine absinthes do not contain star anise, but green anise seeds
After hole explanation, "how much?" Come on, wify vibes here.
Absinthe is delicious
More than all of Italy sir?
Rob is great 👍

And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: (Heb 9:27) And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent: (Acts 17:30) I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. (Luke 13:5) For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans 6:23) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:13)
Tony hawk?
Thats definitely not true! Veneto is at the top of wine production and therefore, vineyards area
@@ghebur You’re correct by volume. Rob was referring to vineyard landmass, which is Sicily. This was clipped from a much longer conversation where more context was given. 😀🍷
ah yes. Growing Wine. It's called grapes mate...
Hi Rob! Miss seeing you!
* North west !
Thanks for the wine recommendations Tony Hawk!
I love Midleton - my Parents were gifted a bottle after they stayed at Midlton Park Hotel - it is / was amazing.
Sounds like vodka.
You can age a whiskey and re distill it if the peoduct is ba dand still call it whiskey. This was done by the whiskey tribe.
It has to "TOUCH WOOD"! Don't know why I thought that was funny but here I'm writing about it!
Americans defining Whiskey is insane. Gtfo
you also look like the blind surfer dude
I love learning that. Why is Irish whisky different than scotch for hundreds of years. To sick it to the Tax Man
This is really interesting actually! I would have expected more likes
Comment for the algo, there is some good information here to get people thinking about the process of still to glass. Something that took me a while to understand were the flavours in a whiskey/bourbon/etc. Soon as I started distilling corn bourbon and tasting it fresh off the still, it was super obvious what I was tasting in the commercial stuff. The downside is you'd also taste how far they'd push into the fringes of the good stuff, and how much more sensitive to tastes and smells you become.
Dope
When my presentation is 5 minutes long but it needs to be 20
The full video is on our page. 😀

I love your selection of NA beets! My favorite brand to buy is Athletic.
A great video on wine tasting! My favorite thing to get at Hazel’s is anything in the “Colorado made” wine area! Love checking out things from around the state and so glad they carry a variety
Definitely gonna give this table red a try!
