To Gen Y and Gen Z: As a Gen X, I want to share that I’ve managed to achieve financial stability. My bills are paid, my house and car are fully owned, I have no student debt, and my credit cards are clear with $35,000 available. I have $80,000 in my daily account and assets worth around $7 million. It took me 30 years of hard work to get here, but I want you to know that the light at the end of the tunnel is real. Wishing you all the best on your journey.

I’m 4 months in on Duolingo myself, and understood 2/3 of what you said. It’s too bad there isn’t a huge population of Russian speakers for us to interact with in the US , outside of a couple communities in Boston, south Florida and Brighton Beach.

Living and working in more than 5 TIMES bigger Bangkok by sheer size and 8 million more people than Ny i can say tha cost of t living here is about 40% of the cost in ny and the food and housing is almost luxury..compared. and its alot safer and modern too. I pay about 300$/month for my 550 sq. ft modern 1 bedroom condo with pool and gym and free wifi.. and eat a lunch/dinner for under 2 $ here..taking the computerized clean safe mts subway or bts skytrain to work. And can go out even at 4 am SAFE and shop cheap food and things..its actually cheaper to eat out than cook home if u are single or 2 persons

With food, people have gotten good at cherry picking foods on sale, and may go to two, three or more stores to find those products that are reduced each shopping day. Thrift stores have seen a huge increase in business. The more "they" charge, the less we spend on extras, which is an industry killer. Also, people are being forced to live on their credit cards, as there are no other choices for many. Some can't pay rent, so have moved into their car or are staying with family or friends. Repossession of cars is reaching all-time highs, even though people are still buying new cars at a startling rate. Some who can no longer afford their home insurance and taxes are forced to sell their home and either rent or live with family. The rate of job losses has thrown people to the wind with no notice, and this has caused major problems. It's a whirlwind of economic issues now for many. In Florida, condos laws have forced condos to increase their fees due to new Florida laws. This increase is unmanageable and many are abandoning their units. I don't know where all this is going to end.

yes its expensive for a new buyer but US apparently have like 20 year mortgages so if you lock in at like 2% u good and its not like your mortgage goes up because the value goes up. Apparently a lot of my fellow Canadians are moving to the US because its cheaper places like TX and other southerly states. It depends on where you live and whoever is in Washington is not influencing the macroeconomics in your area as much as you think.

When you have just a handful of corporations controlling 75-80% of the food market, there is no meaningful competition and you see increased prices and record profits. That's what we're seeing in the U.S. right now. We buy our food at the pleasure of the corporate food cartel.
