MyTake...

“Hello there!”
Stories and storytelling are my number one passion in life. The aim of this channel is to give ‘MyTake...’ on various mediums of storytelling, be it films, TV shows, books, videogames etc,
This is an opinion-based channel and should be regarded as this. What makes a ‘good’ story to one person can differ from someone else. Although I hope to find a community of individuals who share similar ideas on what makes truly excellent storytelling.
Expect coverage on everything from the superhero genre, the fantasy genre, sci fi, crime and thrillers, and much, much more! If you like discussions on pop culture, I hope that this should be the channel for you!
Thank you for your time! :)

Why Top Gun Maverick Was A Perfect Legacy Sequel
Hi, first time viewer here ^-^/ I quite enjoyed the video, hearing your perspective helped me further enjoy this series in a broader scope 😊. Your passion and work ethic is evident from your video backlog regardless of subscriber count, be proud. If i might add some feedback to try help you grow the channel into reaching the audience you deserve. At the start of the video I thought it was AI generated, but only because the narration sounded like strange uncanny AI. Id say this would be turning a lot of initial people off of watching and liking the video etc. My feeback here is that to show your passion fully, its worth spending a bit of money now on a decent recording mic, best investment you could make to this channel. Your editing and scripts are pretty good, only thing id suggest improving would be narration. Not only with the mic, but with the cadence, intonation then inflection of your delivery. At the moment it unfortunately sounds semi uninspired, like a school project. Get away from that base, use the confidence in the other aspects of your videos to try inject more of your personality into your tone. If you're stuck wondering how, just go watch a few of your favourite video essayers to see how they each appraoach their own narration. Glad I was recommended this video, going to go through the backlog, keen to see more.
Hi! Thank you for your very kind words and also your feedback - I ultimately make these videos for others to enjoy by sharing my passion for filmmaking/storytelling, so any and all feedback is greatly appreciated and welcome. I definitely agree that where my videos are letting themselves down most is in my delivery of the scripts - I have considered integrating some sections with my face on show as well to help humanise the channel a bit more as I can indeed confirm I am not a robot😂 even if I currently sound a bit like one! I will also investigate how to speak in a way which comes across as more enthusiastic as you've suggested as I definitely think the more passionate I come across, the more engaging the videos will be. I'm really glad you enjoyed the video and I hope you enjoy the other videos on my channel too - if you come across any other elements of feedback whilst watching that you'd like to share then feel free to comment on them and I'll see it. Thank you for your support, it is much appreciated! :)
I like how they had a trans actor but there was no big deal about it. I thought the actor did a great job which proves you dont need DEI to have talent.
Recent adaptations seem to have been produced by people who don't understand what makes the source material great or even have disdain for the source material - The Halo TV series, Rings of Power, The Witcher all fall into this category. In Fallout, Nolan clearly understood the material and why it has had a fan base over decades and how to take that to a larger audience.
Yes I absolutely agree with that! If you're going to adapt something beloved and popular, you cannot lose sight of why it's beloved and popular in the first place. It's tragic that so many adaptations, either unintentionally, or sadly sometimes even intentionally, lose sight of this. Hopefully the success of things like Fallout will slowly teach that lesson to studios, as they will ultimately go where the most money is in the end. Thanks for your comment and for watching! :)
Todd Howard did not create Fallout, Tim Cain deserves that title more an anyone else
Apologies I had only researched Fallout from materials around the show which suggest Todd Howard to be the creator. Having since looked into it from a game perspective I now have a better understanding Cain's contributions. I hope that you were able to enjoy the video nevertheless and thanks for pointing this detail out. Thank you for watching too! :)
Tim Cain only calls himself a co-creator because he’s humble. If he had to name another co-creator, then it’d be art director Leonard Boyarsky. Tim Cain is now semi-retired but vlogs almost daily (sometimes multiple videos per day) on his RUclips channel @CainOnGames. It is very interesting hearing his insights and experiences. I especially love when he invites guests on, (especially the episodes with Leonard) and they gossip about how chaotic Interplay was.
This is a banger of an analysis, my man. Kudos.
Ah thank you! And thanks for watching! :)
It’s just so depressing that there’s no new Fallout coming anytime soon to capitalise on the hype. I love New Vegas & 4 but there’s only so many times I can keep replaying them
Yes it is unfortunate! And it's the same with how long we'll have to wait for the second season of the show - I hear production is currently on hold due to the LA wildfires, so hopefully they will be able to restart soon! Thanks for your comment and for watching! :)
thank you for the great videos!!!!¡@@MyTake...as long as it's a shorter wait than Severance I'll live

Great video. Love the commentary on Batman cruising the lonely streets of Gotham. Always was a favorite scene of mine as well.
Thank you! Yeah it's a great scene, it captures the loneliness of being Batman brilliantly. Thanks for watching! :)
@@MyTake... No problem. I also subscribed. If things go to plan, I will see Batman Returns at the Library of Congress Theater this coming Saturday (12/14/2024). I saw it when it debuted in theaters, so this will be only the 2nd time that I have seen it on the big screen.
Thank you for your subscription - really appreciate that! And I hope you enjoy Batman Returns on the big screen again! :)
Great video
Thank you! And thanks for watching! :)
As long as Vic has his back ill keep watching.
Hello there! Apologies it's taken me a while to get this video out. I was originally going to cover episodes 5-7 in one video and then episode 8 in another but then decided to wait and cover the last half of the story all in one go. If you're reading this, I hope you enjoy the video and thank you very much for watching! :)
The three leads are very good but Collin is on another level, he has emerged himself into this character to deeply you can’t see him. He is so disguised that they could use him to play hush, Hugo etc..
Sophia saves the girl to save the child that stills lives within her
👌
I don’t know how much it cost but it looks great. The dialog is good. The pacing. Not to predictable. It’s good.
I enjoyed watching New Rockstars make their stupid theories about this show that probably would've been right in one of Marvel's Disney Plus series, but is way off base in a well written show
This show is honestly kinda boring and nothing remotely epic, amazing or anything everyone is saying. The visuals, set pieces & world they create is strong and on point. I’ll give them that. But the acting really isn’t special. The overacting especially with the accents gets ridiculous after a while. Half way through the season and really nothing significant has happened that you couldn’t already see coming. I honestly believe people think this is good because it’s “dark, gritty, realistic” with comic book characters names in it. But if you look at it without the names, it’s a basic coming of age, “gangster/ mob” show that isn’t really anything we haven’t seen before.
what did you not see in the show? he had to leave Sophia or kill her, because his plan was blown, remember he got out it. if he would have rescued Sophia she still would have had him killed.
Penguin kinda looks like Al Capone , I hadn’t noticed it before
🥱
Dude this is just still good
I think everybody is going a little bit overboard, but i suppose the crap entertainment we are fed these days makes good things seem amazing. Penquin is a good show but its not amazing. In my opinion ofcourse.
1000th view
Another interesting detail I haven't seen anyone clock yet, is the portrait of the Falcones, Isabella's enormous yellow dress eating up fully half of the canvas front and center, with little Sofia in a similar yellow dress next to her ~ and while Sofia's giving the iconic cent'anni toast in her iconic yellow dress, Isabella's portrait just peeks out over her right shoulder.
This show makes me miss television.
I kinda had a hard time believing that Sofia could be so well adjusted after going through that
Episodes 1-2 did a pretty good job of explaining: 1. She isn't - she eats salad with her hands and is eager to hurt/kill people. 2. Alberto was her rock that helped her stay sane by always visiting.
The last thing I would call her is well adjusted.
@@innocuousalias6632 Considering what she's been through I would define "not being a raving lunatic 24/7" as well adjusted
@@bobkane432I mean she is incredibly intelligent and was raised around violence. Those things give her a bit of a buffer. Couple that with therapy with Julian who seemed to really want to help her, and visits from her brother, they kept her from fully losing it. She definitely is insane tho lol
@@anakin-is-panakin She doesn't belong in Arkham since her crimes required a lot of planning and organization, maybe Blackgate would be better
I dont like sofia, she is a very good actress but she just doesnt come across as intimidating or a psyco to me...bit of a miscast.
What an exceptional series. Thanks for the breakdown of the episode and character development. Looking forward to your next review.
They don't waste a moment of screen time. This is a master class in film making top to bottom. Lighting, cameras, acting, writing. The perspective in every scene. You feel like you're there.
nice video but it would be better if u didn't use footage from future episodes
Victor's story also answers the frequently repeated question: "If Gotham is so bad, why do people stay?"
"You think you're my prisoner?" *draws gun* Never change Oz 😭
I remember Batman tearing up that whole city for a conver w the Penguin lmao that mess was crazy
I feel so bad for Sophia. I didn't like her at first but she is becoming one of my favorite characters she's is really well written and makes me feel for the characters. And I love OZ Colin Farrell dose such an amazing job he's really unrecognizable in this show.
Great video. One thing I learned watching breakdown videos on this show. It’s a different car than the Batman movie. New paper plates on the purple..ahem.. I mean plum colored Maserati.
Thank you! And thanks for letting me know about the Maserati - I hadn't even thought to look at the plates! Clearly there's an established market for plum coloured Maserati's in Gotham to have another one at the ready in just a few days after the events of The Batman, haha! Thanks for watching! :)
@@MyTake... plum must be in season lol
Episode 4 was not my favorite.
It was beautiful
Oh boy I can't wait for the episode 4 video now.
Thank you! It's currently in the process of being made - will try have the video out before episode 5 drops! And thanks for watching! :)
Colin is amazing
All this show does is take a huge DUMP on Jim Gordon and Batman.
Episode 4 was most perfect Episode 1 was more perfect Episode 3 was very perfect Episode 2 was just perfect
Then along came Episode 8.
Love the tone of this show, it’s very bleak and obvious that it’s not going to end well when it comes to its conclusion, always makes for an interesting watch. It doesn’t even feel like superhero media
But I'd say it's definitely more than just a crime drama. Sophia just gave us a full-blown supervillain origin. It's subtle, but there's a flamboyance, a certain iconic flair, to the way it does characters. I think when it comes to live-action, the superhero element doesn't need to be loud or obvious. The lightest touch makes all the difference. But when it's not there at all, I miss it.
I would say great body language for sure When Oz pull the gun on Vic in ep3 that magnitude the feeling of how Oz felt
The only thing I'm sad about is that Oz and Sofia had such a fantastic dynamic when working together in ep3, wish we coulda seen more of them on the same side against the odds.
I wish they didn't switch up Sophia character.
Who's to say they won't? Basically 90% of the show are all villains and very hostile with each other, so you never know. Although I imagine Oz would be next top of her hit list though.
Against the odds of what? Being wealthy privileged dirtbags who turn to murder when things don't go their way? Thats who we root for now?
The writers room is all dudes. The wokesters didn't get their claws into this series as it was overlooked. Same with Andor.
The showrunner and head writer is a woman though
You are not looking hard enough.
@@JohnnyJustice777 And she actually knows the lore. Not to mention, she wrote episodes for Agents of SHIELD and doesn't use the gender card for any of the characters. Like they're villains but they got things that keep their humanity tethered.
I keep on thinking Gotham is a real city somewhere in some far corner of America that I have never seen
Meanwhile Episode 4 makes Sophia the person we're rooting for but at the same time we're rooting for Victor and Penguin. Literally the only person in this show we're made to root against was Johnny Viti
