can i ask please when you started the tour at the church the level behind the wall was high originally behind the wall would of been street level all around the wall ,, I know silly question but I have to ask , as you work through the car park at 7.54 sec almost 2000 years old I would of thought their would be walk ways into the town ? through the wall

7 Minutes 54 Seconds into the Roman Wall walk i was in Priory Street Car Park and it seems there were other buildings in place along the front of the wall from Medieval times until the mid 20th Century, and that was what looked like a huge fireplace from one of those buildings. There was no exits or entrances in the wall during the Roman Era except for the six gates i mentioned in the video. The wall would have been deeper coming out further after they built the wall. As for the Church wall, the ground was lower during the Roman era so inside the wall was lower at that point but was built up during Medieval times to reinforce and strengthen the walls. In fact they used earth to hold up the walls around various sections of the wall after the stone from the walls got robbed out to help build the abbeys and other buildings, along with Roman Building materials from around Colchester. So later earth was the better option to add strength to the inside if the walls.

They have to ferry Officers into these areas now rather than them walking out onto thier Beat. Absolute madness!

the war of the worlds one is pretty good. imagine that even back in the day this was "fake news"... and then consider it in todays environment.. its just wild that it shows how easily we as a society can be manipulated into thinking one way or another just cuz we werent there to witness it ourselves... thats exactly how everyone in the future will assess current events we are living through. just as we have done for everything we have learned about our history that we personally havent lived through.

I'd read somewhere that the date of December 25 was chosen because... - The texts appear to have given it a near date to the last week of December - In the Julian Calendar, the new year was set near the date of the texts - It was decided that He would have had His circumcision on the 8th day of life - Thus, going back 7 days, we find... December 25th. It was not to take over the Yule, as some said, but there was an actual reasoning behind the date chosen. This doesn't take into account the fact that we reset the calendar, losing ... was it 11 days? ... Yes - 1752 (looked it up) lost 11 days, from Wednesday 2nd September 1752 jumped to Thursday 14th September 1752. This was when aligning the Gregorian calendar with the Julian calendar... thus named after Julius Augustus Ceasar, after whom the new months of July and August were added, messing up the naming of the months after the numbers - September was the 7th month, October the 8th, November the 9th, and December the 10th month prior. (Sept=7, Octo=8, Novus=9, Decem=10) So in all reality, the 25th of December is very likely very close to the correct date...

Spherical Earth: Interestingly, I’d always been taught the same narrative, details & lore described in the vid regarding the discovery that the earth was round: who, how, when it was “discovered…” But then in jr high school (a loooong time ago, as I’m a GenXer; I attended a private school for a couple of years where part of the curriculum was studying Biblical texts in their original Greek & Hebrew languages, respectively, and breaking down each verse to the word & word to it definition in the era in which it was written - exciting, huh? 😂) that there were people who knew the earth was round centuries before even these manuscripts, as both the Old & New Testaments explicitly state that “the earth is a sphere…” Isaiah 40:22 cites “the circle of the earth,” and Proverbs 8:27 also references the earth’s circularity. These match a ball-shaped earth. Additionally, Jesus makes a statement recorded in Luke 17:34-35 that demonstrates His knowledge of a spherical Earth. He speaks of one instantaneous event that will occur, and in this description, the people who experience this event are experiencing different times of day...only possible on a round/globe-shaped Earth: ~ “I tell you, in that night there will be two people in one bed; one will be taken and the other left. There will be two women grinding grain together; one will be taken and the other left.”" ~ Luke 17:34-35 Thus the Biblical text in the original language absolutely does support the globe shape we all know to be reality. I know, that & warm milk is good for a nap. 😴

The argument with Columbus is a bit weak. You first would have to clarify what "discovering" actually means. Yes, indigenous people lived in the Americas. But they had no understanding of the size and shape of their continents, nor of its place on the globe. Just like I dont have discovered the blood circuit only because I have one - William Harvey discovered and described it first. And even if fe. Vikings or Portugese or others may have set foot on America before Columbus, their discoveries were forgotten or kept a secret. So it actually were only the journeys of Columbus that lead to the Americas being discovered for all humanity (first in Europe, then in the Islamic World and in Asia).

Another myth, regarding the shape of the earth: While since antiquity the argument was used, that ships disappear behind the horizon as a prove for the round shape of the earth. It is actually something you can't observe. It was just used as a thought experiment to prove a point. Though maybe when you observe a very large mountain from a ship, maybe it would work the other way around. On a side note: the globus cruciger used since antiquity by rulers as a sign of their power is a representation of their rule over the world. And the Roman poet Ovid already described the round shape of the earth with its climate zones in his work Metamorphoses.

The apples were relational to the Norse apples of Idunn. Askr and Embla being the first man and woman made by Odin and his two brothers. (Adam and Eve). This is the Christianization of the Norse creation myth (done when the faith forced by Harald Bluetooth) and the furthur damnation of the idea of the mythic fruit of the Norse gods that kept them immortal, which were already forbidden to mortals, but when the faith was being imprinted in their society, made them sinful. Christianity's spread was the reason many faiths myths mixed and were altered to be accepted or as they were understood by the locals.

The Earth is flat. Only really trying to debunk it allows eyes opening. There are records in long distance photography that completely contradict any curvature. In infrared you can see for hundreds of miles in straight line, at sea level. Earth supposes to spin about 1000mph on equator, while orbiting Sun at 66 616mph and then our Sun is supposed to drag all of planets through the Milky Way at about 514 000mph. Every other object in cosmos is also "to unning in some direction with an incredible speed" - universe is expanding, they told us. Yet since many hundreds, thousands even, years we can navigate by stars, that are on "yearly fixed paths", over our heads. First ine is verifiable, repeatable, anyone can do the measurements and coming to understand how far we can see with modern day equipment... Shit.... To still go with ball and explain that you would have come up with Earth actually being MUCH MUCH bigger. BUT it is what it is. Ok, 3rd that I really like and I go... 😆 Do snipers account the Earth spinning under the bullet that left the barrel??? If you heard that they do and you believe it... Earth would have to spin as fast under the planes and helicopters taking off. If the ball would move under bullet, then after taking off we should observe Earth spinning under our feet like crazy.

He wasn't illiterate: he was versed in Hebrew scriptures and read them in a synagogue even.

@@StAlphonsusHasAPosse I'm only stating a FACT that NOT ONE word of the Bible was written by Jesus!! And people like Paul wrote about Jesus many decades after he died, a lousy way to record accurate history

@@Prospro8 I'm referring to Jesus being illiterate because not one word of the Bible was written by Jesus and many Christians aren't aware of that. Jesus supposedly knew everything common Sense dictates that he should have written the entire Christian Bible, but for some unexplained reason he didn't

Even Dante suggested the sphericity of earth in his Inferno, since he exits from the other side. Because people weren't openly talking about something, it doesn't mean they hadn't thought about it. Probably the church wouldn't like that idea, since it raises the question of who is underneath and how can we get there and convert them

The bible is not really a factual history book. What we do know as hard fact is, that in ancient Egypt buildings were errected by trained craftsman and the physical labor was done by the farmers during the season of the nile floods. When they weren't needed for working on their fields. We know this also because those people sometimes wrote their names and short messages on the stones the were working on. Because they took pride in working on these buildings.

Massive scaremongering going on here. As a tourist I’ve walked the whole canal and never felt threatened. It’s beautiful

That certainly wasn’t my intention at all, I agree that the canal is beautiful but unfortunately there is also an awful lot of crime that takes place there (some of which are the worst crimes imaginable)… boat owners that live there even set up their own neighbourhood watch where volunteers patrol the canals. It’s not a place where I’d recommend anyone walk alone, especially at night. It’s a beautiful walk but would be safer as a group or boat tour.
