Spped 3 Vs Speed 4 @ Teamsport Birmingham - Side by Side Comparrison

A side by side comparrison of speed 3 vs speed 4 at Teamsport Birmingham. For this comparrison I've used our fastest time set on spped 3 of 46.154 on Oct 27th and our fastest time set on speed 4 of 44.014 set on Nov 7th. Oscar set his speed 3 time during his 3rd ever 15 minute period in the new electric karts (Race Academy) and his speed 4 time during his first ever 30 minute session on the spe...

This has to go down as Oscar's most intense race to date in his so far just over 1 year of kart racing experience. I (Oscar's dad) fought hard for around 6 months for Oscar to be allowed access to these Thursday night 16 members events, but his age (12-13) was always the defining factor, certainly never his ability. However if Oscar is to keep progressing he absolutely needs to be in high inten...

Oscar's Done It Again - Fastest EVER lap @ Teamsport Birmingham - 7/11/24

Oscar said this felt easy, wether that's a credit to his own ability or an indication other racers will soon beat it who knows. But what we do know for now is that Oscar is #1 again with the fastest lap (multiple laps even) ever recorded at Teamsport Birmingham. What (again) makes it more remarkable is that he has accomplished this fastest ever lap you see here in just a handful of clear laps o...

Overtake Challenge! Chaos & Great Battles 💥
you have current track record dont you? im 40th rn tryna get top 10 lol
On the 'Adult' public leaderboard yes, Oscar's 44.037 is still in P1. If you look on the 'Elite Member's Events' scoreboard you'll see Oscar has a 43.807 lap which puts him in P2. So P1 right now is Jamie Sheerman-Chase with a 43.648 which you can watch happen in our 'GP1' video as Oscar and Jamie both set new track records in that race. Oscar may have still been #1 but was given a kart in the final which earlier on the same night we were told to avoid. Since that event Teamsport have told us Oscar will now have to wait until he's 14 (over 6 months) before he can race on speed 4 again, it's been rolled out across the country 😢 So Oscar now cannot defend and improve on his lap record which is incredibly frustrating. But give our lap record video a watch, you'll see the lines Oscar takes, then it's down to perfecting your breaking points and being consistent. We wish you well and if you do beat Oscar's times then from June 29th we're coming for you 😅
I usually go stoke for race academy when u next gonna be down at stoke and btw kart 22 is my fav kart
Stoke is 1 & half hours drive each way for us so no plans in place. We stopped here on our way back from Demon Tweeks, anywhere we go around the UK we'll visit the local Teamsport track. No idea if we had a decent kart or not but Oscar did enjoy the track 😊 I'll try and remember to post in future about upcoming tracks we'll be visiting away from our Birmingham home track so keep an eye on the page 👊🏼
@ fair enough stoke is like 30-40min drive for me Birmingham is like 1hour smth but i really want to check out the Birmingham track so might see u one day
You camera looks better here 29:47 than it did at the start
@@RileyLawcock It was Jamie Sheerman ahead of us in the race at that moment who reccomended before that race that we change from 'Rocksteady +' to 'Rocksteady' on our DJI Osmo Action 4 camera. It gives a wilder field of view which is a bit distorted towards the edges of the video but we agree it is a better angle for filming races. There is an onscreen mention (bottom of the screen) about changing the camera settings at the very start of the final race. We'll stick with this setting going forwards now 😊
Sorry I heavily hit Oscar at 35:39. Was in up ramping (flat light blind area) so I didn’t see the flag light. Apologies for that. 😢
@@LingjieZhou-t8s Don't worry, it's all a part of the sport, and it's helping strengthen his neck muscles 💪🏻 Great race though, you didn't make it an easy pass for him.
Great video and absolutely amazing racing, even after everything! Keep it up!
@@Isaac2517 cheers dude, you can bet he will, he doesn't quit until he passes the finish line and anything bad that happens on track only makes him more determined and even more focused.
So many setbacks but he soldiers on regardless....
That's a lot of difference 😮
@@JoyMallett 2.1 seconds (or after last night we can now say 2.3 seconds) difference may not sound huge but the difference in how that extra speed feels is very noticeable....and we believe the karts are only going to get faster.
FYI the timing line is now on the actual start / finish line. They moved it during the refurb.
@@tryrestarting We had no idea, I'll be sure to let Oscar know. Much better place for it than on a hairpin. Cheers 👊🏼
fair play bro, rapid all night💪👏
@@AlfiePritchard-p5x Cheers Alfie, that means a lot coming from you as your one of the very elite few who we look up to along with Jamie Chase 👊🏼 Seing Oscar on track with you is something I've been waiting 6 months to see, he needs to be out there with the best who will push him to become even better himself.
@ no problem he’s doing really well, so much so i no longer have track record🤣
@@AlfiePritchard-p5x Sorry, Oscar's to blame for that 😂....and to take the mick he didn't even bother using the boost button 2nd time it lit up on his 44.014 lap record. Also he could have dived over the line but didn't. So easily could have been around a 43.5 lap.
Put a Lap and position counter up .
@@billybonds571 I wanted to mention what position Oscar was in, but because all 18 karters had to do a joker lap it was impossible to keep track of who was where at any given point in the race. There is a live timer on the app, but I'm using my phone to record the race, I need 2 phones 😂
Dodgy last lap move but non the less nice drive. Looks like im going to have to come back down and show who's the champ
@@jamiechase.karting Not quite BIKC rules and after how contact early on meant he dropped a couple of positions and almost more throughout the race I'm glad he stepped out of his usual compfort zone, got stuck in and stood up for himself. We welcome the challenge, the biggest challenge Oscar can face on our home track, your 2 years running the BIKC national finalist 3rd place lightweight winner....bring it on Mr Sheerman!
Well done Oscar 👏
Hahahha
@@jamiechase.karting Was a big powerful moment for me filming him that day in Smyths toyshop, it was the moment the first 4 days we'd ever been kept apart came to an end. So that video footage comes up a lot in memories and now got to make some good use of it 😊
might wanna fix the hands to 9 and 3 instead od 10 and 2 for better steering, just a tip since I've been racing in the Tillotson T4 Senior Intermediate championship for a while now. it'll improve your racing trust me 😉
@@juanchodelacruz I'll pass the advice onto Oscar, he's back on track tomorrow night, see how he feels with it 👊🏼
@ he’s pretty good! Can’t wait to see him get better!!
@@juanchodelacruz We've just passed the 1 year of karting mark so he's got a lot more experience to gain yet. Due to his age, he turned 13 in June, Teamsport wouldn't until now allow him to race in 16+ elite members events, on yop of that he lives with his mom (court arrangements 😒) and she wouldn't let me take to to 13+ monday members 342's, I got to take him to just 3 of those in the summer holidays. So essentially all of his training has been in public sessions which to be honest with how predictably unpredictable and dangerous for him at the speed he races those session are he's gained great reflexes and timing from always expecting the driver ahead to spin out, swerve, take an odd line etc. From here onwards with other skilled drivers he shpuld really start to tighten up on his craft, he has the pace in buckets, but he needs drivers on his tail putting him under immense pressure, especially now that he's racing for podium positions so it means something to him to advance and defend his position. I pick him up tomorrow after school and will definitely mention his hand position on the steering wheel. I do understand it's because your outside arm pushes you round the corner (I watch too many karting video's 😅) but thankyoi for your advice 😊
@@juanchodelacruz Oscar said that he has to have the seat adjusted further forwards in these new electric karts so his feet are right on the pedals but it means his body is closer to the steering wheel meaning his hands sit higher. Looks like he needs to grow a bit more, or Bizz Karts need to follow Sodi's lead and have adjustable steering columns.
@@Oscarmallettracing interesting! the positioning on the steering wheel could also effect the wrists and might cause some pain but I've never tried it so I shouldn't speak for that but if he ever tries placing his hands on 9 and 3 and it helps let me know! and to Oscar, good luck on your journey!
Wel done Oscar, well deseved 3rd place (amost p2) 🎉🎉🏅
@@JoyMallett P1 was only 7 seconds ahead who Oscar was 0.5 seconds per lap faster than. There were 36 laps so Oscar would be 18 seconds faster than him overall. I doubt he could hold Oscar off for that long.
Nasty head shake at the beginning 😮
@@JoyMallett His protective gear did the job, he's had plenty of those now, will be strengthening his neck muscles.
What a battle!
@@JoyMallett He was made to fight all the way, no easy walk in the park for him, it's great for his growth.
4:36 holy cow that's alot of karts must of been scary
Nah Oscar thrives out there in amongst it all and he has lightning fast reactions which have got him out of trouble plenty of times before. It used to be scary for me (his dad) when he started karting last October 2023, but I gradually got used to it. What scares me more is other people on track with him. But over this first year of karting he's had I believe atleast 250 x 15 minute race sessions and only on 3 occasions (outside the BIKC) he's been in members sessions before this one you see him in here. He's learnt his craft from racing with completely incapable people in public sessions so he's always expecting things to go wrong and is on high alert for it. This thursday we go again, our 2nd Elite Members event, it's Grid Series round 4....we already know Harrison Fisher (one of the fastest ever at Teamsport Birmingham in petrol karts) is there and he's told me that the grid will be filled with all the best 🤞🏻 So maybe by Sunday we'll have another video up here with Oscar again putting on a great performance. Had he not been bumped into, caught up behind 2 pile ups and squeezed into the barrier I believe he would have took P1 in this video, he was by half a second a lap the fastest there.
@@Oscarmallettracing good luck for sunday
@@coolhandfin5085 Cherrs dude, race is tomorrow, but video should be up by Sunday 👊🏼
Well done Oscar, I need to come and have a try of those new electric karts.
@@JessicaTonksRacing We will only be racing at Birmingham now in the Thursday Elite Members events on speed 4 as it's very similar to the petrol speeds, a touch faster if I'm honest, about 1 second per lap. Oscar had 5 x 15 minute sessions on speed 3 in race academy and in a members 342 and was slower than multiple drivers who are always atleast 0.5 to 1 second behind him on their best times. The speed 3 setting is perfect for less advanced drivers as the breaking points and racing lines are where they already race, so faster drivers are struggling to adapt. So rather than adapt after 5+ minths of askung Teamsport have finally upgraded Oscar's account status so he can now take part in the usually 16+ elite members events on speed 4. But we're more than happy to meet you down there for a fun session on speed 3 if ever you pop over to TS Birmingham. I have Oscae alternate weekends and would reccomend sunday morning race academy for best track time...stay well clear of public sessions in Birmingham unless you love yellow flags, red flags and being forced into the barriers 😂
I was in ts Bristol & i was gonnah get into the grand final but i got punted into the barrier i was rlly mad. Congrats btw im Fin Races
There is a large element of luck involved in getting through each stage of the BIKC. We held (petrol) and hold the (electric) fastest lap times at Teamsport Birmingham and knew before the local finals only really 2 other karters (Jayden Steatham and Hayden Adams) should be huge threats to us. But on the day Tasos G got the fastest kart of the fleet and set his PB in qualifying putting us in p2 for the final, he's never been near our lap times. Then on turn 3, a hairpin onto the upramp, we had a chance of getting on the inside of Tasos but took a nudge in the back from Hayden which sent us out wide into the back of Tasos right at the bottom of the upramp and cost us our speed as Hayden and Jayden got the inside line and passed us. So 8 seconds in and we were down to p4 unfairly, but the marshalls didn't spot it (our helmet cam footage did). A few laps later we had closed the gap and got past Hayden into p3, then for several laps Hayden was right on our bumper and we received multiple small taps on the hairpins until Hayden and also Adam Tice got past us putting us into p5. Again the marshalls did nothing despite Oscar clearly showing his dissatisfaction. From there on Oscar just held 5th position for qualification and on the day set his slowest lap times for many months struggling to get out of the 47 second zone when normally being low 45's into high 44's. Said a lot about the karts we were given. In the regionals in Liverpool, we were told this a week later, we had the 3 worst karts of the fleet through 5 race sessions. Oscar made the final due to mak8ng up positions in a heat and the semi final in decent karts, but in the quali, the other heat and the final he was loosing 1 second a lap off his previous public session time. He started and finished p10 in the final, unable to catch drivers ahead of jim he has passed in the 2 races he had decent karts in. So we didn't make the nationals, but will be back next year with our fingers crossed for a little more luck and may see you there 👊🏼
@@Oscarmallettracing good luck, hopefully ill be there
nice job oscar
@@williamrigler6994 Cheers William, he's worked hard on this track for the last 10 months. Next challenge is to beat it, afterall he did say it was easy getting this lap time 😅
Looks a great track 😀
@@AndersLadAndDad they closed off the upper track section for this event making it a sub 12 second lap with just 1 area for overtaking. All Jenson had to do was follow the same defensive line and be impossible to pass without contact. Good fun though and 1 mistake here can hurt 🤕
@ will have to get up for a try of that track I reckon 😀
@@AndersLadAndDad if you do then pop down for a Wednesday members event. Jamie Sheerman Chase was running the sessions until recently and it's gone quiet since he's left, but if the word is out your on your way I'm sure it will be a packed night.
@ will definitely be popping down to try it out, I’ll put a post out when we’re doing it, see if we can fill the grid up 😀
@@AndersLadAndDad Oscar will have his new race gear and his name on his back by then, so any track time we can get that could end up on your channel exposing him would be huge for us. If you want to use Oscar's name at any point such as saying we're laying down the challemge at PMG 😂 then feel free, how ever you want to advertise it you have freedom to use Oscar's name 😊
I only had a very short guest appearance on this one. Must have been going around at opposite sides of the track
@@JessicaTonksRacing You were just behind us, but don't worry, I'm yet to make a video about both you and Oscar on track that day. With the BIKC regional finals the following weekend and a trip to Teamsport Stoke a week or so after that I've been busy working on video's for those, then this video which I was looking forwards to doing with Jamie's footage. I'll let you know once your video with Oscar is made 💯😁
Great vid 👏👏
😁 Having that second camera angle kindly shared with us from Jamie made this video stand out from the others I've made. I could (will) make so many from all the footage I've got, I literally don't have much else to do in life except work on this for Oscar so I'm dedicating myself to it to try and raise his social media profile which I know will be vital if he is to make it to higher levels...as shown in your X Kart scholarship video. It's ashame we missed out on qualifying for the BIKC nationals as it would have been epic to see Oscar out there with Jake. Without wanting to sound bitter we were given what turned out to be the 3 slowest karts at Liverpool in tje regionals, Oscar was 0.5+ of a second per lap from where he was in public sessions there back in July, and his mom stuffed any chance we had to practice, so everything was literally up against us, but Oscar still raced his heart out and in the 2 sessions he had decent karts he made up positions. But that quite simply rounded off a year of bad luck with kart selection when it counted, hpwever it's only built Oscar up to be stronger and in 2025 we go again. I wish Jake the best in the finals and hope he comes p3 behind our Birmingham lads Tasos and Hayden Adams 😅 In truth though I'm expecting Jake to dominate it right from qualifying, p1 all the way same as Nottingham 💪🏻 I have warned Hayden how good Jake is there, he said he's raced outdoor with Jake but has no idea how gopd Jake is at Warrington.
@@Oscarmallettracing hope your right about dominating all day 😁 in rental karting, you are always at the mercy of the karting your in, we got a dog in qualifying last year, Jake was out qualified by 3 tenths, we ended up p2 in one of the worst karts. There’s no doubt in my mind, if his qualy kart is decent, he will be p1. After bikc is over, that will be pretty much it for us indoor karting. Want to concentrate all efforts into the Rotax we have. What a shame the qualy kart at liverpool was rubbish for Oscar 😞 I have no life either outside of work & racing, that’s why I started doing videos, just to try and build his profile, I never thought fit a second anyone would watch us 🤣 but here we are, we get more subscribers by the day, so I must be doing something right, not bad for a guy that’s not got a clue 🤣👍
@@AndersLadAndDad Well although your moving away from indoor karting we'll be sure to keep up with your progress outdoors and at the same time continuing to soak it all in as learning how the world of outdoor karting works is going to be key to is heading in the right direction once we make the plunge. I feel we've got another year of indoor karting ahead with some outdoor track days mixed in as we continue to advance. Truth is I don't want to throw Oscar in the deep end too early, he's only karted outdoors twice at a local Daytona track in the Sodi karts, he actually won a gp in the rain, his only time karing in the rain, but we're far from experienced outdoors yet and up against the talent there at X Kart I don't think Oscar would fair to well without atleast another say 5-10 track days prior and also time learning the Wilton Mill track amongst others. My work is conducted at a friends home where I have my own little office, but that's just a battle to try an stay afloat post Brexit and Covid, prior to those I could have afforded compfortably to get Oscar into owner karting, £50k a year even would have been compfortable, but right now indoor rental karting is a struggle. I have watched the 2023 junior finals and followed Jakes progress, there's no chance of a repeat, he's a far more accomplished racer now, pretty much the #1 in indoor karting, specifically in juniors. If there's one thing I can ask, because I assure you I'm worse than you with understanding social media, it's if you have any tips to help increase our following? I'm running RUclips, TikTok and Facebook for Oscar, anything you think that could help I'll greatfully accept 😊 One day we'll have to arrange a meet at Warrington, I'm more than prepared to drive Oscar up there for that opportunity to get out there with Jake and learn some track tips, maybe even give him a great battle out there 🤞🏻
@@Oscarmallettracing we’d meet you there anytime for a race session mate, you just let me know when you want come up 😁 as far as the social media goes, I’ve just tried to show everything, the good and the bad. Tried to be honest about everything we do. I’m struggling to pay for it all if I’m honest, we need sponsors to carry on at a high level. I just don’t earn enough at the minute to do what we want to do. I’m probably the poorest person in the x kart awning 🤣 although Jake is probably one of the best known drivers due his social media following. Probably why x kart put up with me 🤣🤣 as fathers all we can do is our best isn’t it. Like I said, you never know what opportunities lie ahead. It only takes one decent sponsor to believe in you, and your away 😀 one things first sure, I won’t be giving up anytime soon, even if I had to go in as a privateer and do it all myself. So be it. Jake’s got 2 years left in juniors karting, then hopefully move onto another form of racing. That’s the dream anyway.
@@AndersLadAndDad I have Oscar until Wednesday midday, so free monday and tuesday if you can make it there on either? I think I would make you the 2nd poorest parent under the awning 😂 Really I'm struggling more than most, literally reliant on savings to get by right now, but there is no place greater I can invest what I have than in Oscar's potential and future, I'll give the shirt off my back for him to have a shot at a life he will thrive in. You saying this could be the end for Jake's indoor career and us targetting reaching Warrington in next years BIKC means there's no better time than right now to get on that track with the best and if Jake is willing to share his track secrets then that can only better prepare us for success in 2025. One thing we haven't done yet is put out video's with Oscar speaking, he's very quiet off track, tends to stay in his own zone which means people following us don't get to see him and feel like they know who he is. So that's something I've had in mind that we need to start working on. On track he comes alive, I see him out there telling adults off for driving on reds etc 😆 I'll also look to spend a little less time on each video I edit and put more raw material out there = more content. But let me know if you can make monday or tuesday and we'll get booked in from the am 👊🏼
Epic driving mate!😂 I think I was actually the kart In front of you in the end pits because I remember telling my dad about you. Two seconds ahead!?😅😅 Keep it up brother 💪
I do see a 'Luke' who finished p4 with a 44.481, has to be you. Oscar's best lap that day was a 41.214 in the earlier Race Academy with less traffic. He won all 5 races that day. His PB from 3 or 4 visits to Coventry is a 40.949 in a public session. I'm sure one day we'll get the opportunity to race in a members event there and beat our PB 🤞🏻 I will be making another video from this day about Oscar racing out there with Jessica Tonks, so keep an eye on our page here for that video as I'm sure you'll spot yourself 😁
Definitely you, kart #10, lines up with Luke on the time sheet 👊🏼
@@Oscarmallettracing Absolutely I'll be checking and seeing me missing the racing line by a good 10 square miles! 🤯 But I do hope to go back to ts Cov for my birthday so maybe we'll see you there 😁. P.s. I was too nervous to go up to you with my dad but when we meet again I shall try and muster my ADHD confidence into words and try not to get annihilated and overtaken by Oscar (it wont sit well for my track record you know). Maybe the 16th or 17th November could work?
@@LukeIsonI have Oscar the weekend either side of that, the weekend before we'll be watching the live coverage of the BIKC finals...had we not had officially the 3 worst karts in the regionals costing Oscar half a second per lap we could very likely have been involved our selves. We don't bite though, just regular people, so if you do spot us there again just walk over and say hi and if you want Oscar can spend some track time with you like he did that day with Jess. Message us on Facebook 'Oscar Mallett Racing' then I can let you know when we're next at Coventry.
you raced amazingly, no doubt you'll be in nationals next year!
@@zakboltonracing We'll certainly be aiming for that and we will certainly learn from this tlfirst experience. Oscar has only been karting for 11 months and this is his first karting championships. All of his practice has been in public sessions with adults who sometimes try and bury him into the tyre walls rather than accept a junior is much faster than them. Hopefully soon we'll be able to start attending some members events and get away from public sessions, but it's all down to Oscar choosing to live with me to gain that freedom as his other parent doesn't support this....what I've spent taking her to family court could have paid for Oscar to be in owner kart championships. Hopefully a career ahead for Oscar either as a driver or in the automotive industry which is his passion.
Well done Oscar, great racing!
@@markbolton8137 We hope to race with Zak again one day, he's a real talent, I'm sure we'll one day be out on track together in the finals 🤞🏻 We'll be keeping an eye on your channel in the meantime for any new content you post 😊 Can I ask which is your local track as one day we may be able to join you there, we are based in Birmingham.
Well done Oscar 👏 well done all. You done Birmingham proud 😊👍🏎
@@JoyMallett Top 2 were Brummies and easily could have been top 4 if kart selection didn't ruin it for 2 of them. Can't wait to go again next year, really enjoyed the entire process starting from back on June 1st with qualifying for the local finals, next year I know Oscar will be even better prepared with even sharper race craft, that he'll also be able to get some practoce time in before the finals and that he won't be struggling from a flu jab right before. I also take some responsibility as I should have called Oscar in to change his kart in the qualifier, he didn't realise he was half a second + off his pace from back in July in a public session when realistically he should have been quicker than back then and starting in atleast p3 or higher for the heats. We'll spend this next year analysing his races and working hard on places we can identify he can improve on in terms of defending and attacking. If he gets a bad kart next time he needs to be absolutely solid with his defence and learn a few tricks, one that we spotted which is in this video which made him pull out of an overtake he would have got if he stayed commited. As we learnt in the Birmingham local finals there's kart craft and crafty karting, he needs to master both area's so he's equipped to deal with what he comes up against out there.
Honestly mate, I’m really gutted you weren’t in the top 3 which you deserved. It was amazing to race with you and talk to you. Next year I’m expecting you to win Juniors as I’m sadly moving to lightweight, good luck to you in the future 🏎️
@@gri_tas It was a combination of karts really that meant in the qualifier Oscar couldn't even get near his time in a previous public session at Liverpool and then in the final meant he couldn't mount a challenge to move up the grid. What this video doesn't show is how hard Oscar had to work to defend hos position in the 2nd half of the final. Still it was a great experience and Oscar isn't phased in the slightest, he's incredibly head strong and we'll just keep on doing what we love together and striving for perfection. As I noted at the very end of the video next year it should be a 1, 2, 3 between Hayden, Jayden and Oscar with you stepping up to adults. But the same to you dude, I hope you smash it in the lightweights, but watch out for Jamie Sheerman, Joseph Simcock, Hamzah Ahmed, Harrison Fisher and a few others who are super experienced with excellent kart craft and pace...they'll certainly help you with your own game. Hope to see you soon at Brum once it re-opens, we'll be trying to dominate the fast lap leaderboards and also fingers crossed be pushing to get Oscar down there for Thursday members events. For now a massive congratulations on P2 and I hope you can make that podium up in Warrington, it's a fantastic track!
@@Oscarmallettracing Thank you very much, hopefully Oscar can do those Thursday Members Events as I know how hard you’ve been battling and once again thank you!
@@gri_tas Hi Tasos....we hope you enjoyed your BIKC national finals experience. We watched live both days. Did you get a penalty as you were suddenly out of contention? However the competition in the juniors was immense, many amazing drivers falling, it was the best category over the weekend to watch. Good news here is Oscar has been upgraded as an advanced (elite level) racer and given the all clear to race in thursday night members events. So as he does he walked into his first ever elite members event on Thursday night (Top Gun), his first time on speed 4 and set (not just once but 3+ times) the fastest ever laps of Teamsport Bormingham, fastest being a 44.014, a 44.037 and a 44.055 and so on. He now is top of the adult score board and the elite members score board 🥳 So of your ever there for a Thursday elite members event that's where you'll find us. Would be great to race you again, the newly awoken BIKC rapid Tasos 😁
@ Thank you very much, I did unfortunately get a 5 second time penalty for an incident which I believe I wasn’t a part of so that was quite frustrating but at least it wasn’t last place, Jayden and Hayden got through to the grand finals so that was good for our Birmingham boys. Congratulations to Oscar for going top of the adult leaderboard, he is a generational talent and I won’t be surprised if I see him winning BIKC 2025. Oscar has always been rapid at Birmingham and now he’s going to be even quicker than everyone else. Good luck in the future guys and I hope I see you guys on the top step of every podium 💪🦁
Very nice and also you might not have realised that I was with you on that session in ts Cov today; you were SOOO fast 😅 I can't wait to see the video when you just can't get past me! I was Luke btw
@@LukeIson Duuude you should have came over and said hi 😂 Oscar posted hos fastest times today in the race academy, a 41.2 and 41.4, but he was on track with the cadet karts otherwise pretty sure he would have been in the 40 second zone. He had 5 sessions there today, I see you on the time sheets 😁
@@LukeIson There will be a video coming, may be a while as there's also Teamsport Liverpool on Saturday for the BIKC regional finals I'll be prioritising.
Nice one Oscar 😂
2:35 I have never seen anyone do this before and I'm both confused and impressed The most generous thing I can say about the crash itself is that Mr Cheddar understeered while trying to hold the inside, and given the erratic way he's transferring his weight he's barely in control of the kart as it is. As for that defending though... I dunno, that seems somewhat born out of ego, that was poor from him. Best of luck to Oscar in the BIKC!
@@PericoKarting Ha ha that was Oscar at 2:35 straight lining over the finish line for a fast lap. Otherwise on the Birmingham track, similar to Coventry, you'll be on the brakes before crossing the line. Definitely give it a go next time your on either of these tracks and you'll likely grab a new PB. Oscar did very well tonight in his first BIKC. A succession of bad karts didn't help but we knew our goal was to qualify regardless of Oscar being the fastest Birmingham junior. I'll be reviewing his helmet cam footage as there was a bit of professional cheating out there as he was pushed wide a couple of times on the same hairpin out of sight. He qualified p2 from 16 in a not so great kart and finished 5th which means we are now on our way to Liverpool Oct 5th which will be an epic experience. It'll be good when we can finally ditch public sessions so Oscar gets a far better experience each time on track and avoids the likes of mr Cheddar. That day we came to see you at Leicester was Oscar's 3rd time there and first time in their race academy. They did a 15 min quali and a 15 min race....yep, Oscar won, set fastest lap of the day, week and high up on the month board. Thoroughly enjoying this journey with him 💯 Cheers for your well wishes and hoping if you've entered the BIKC you smashed it tonight or atleast got some great content 😁
pretty embarrassing that, driving like that against a kid. ive had too many incidents like this i cant count them, i race in a age range now tho as im in a series, oscars rapid
@@OakleyPlayzMC He was racing in his own mind like he was king of the track and what you can't see is just how much he was slowing Oscar down. Part of his argument trackside was "I had the racing line" showing a complete lack of racing knowledge because when your defending your not following the racing line 🤦🏻♂️ The problem we've had at Teamsport Birmingham is they won't let Oscar into any members events until he's 16 meaning we are stuck in public sessions which as you'll know and as this video clearly shows are far more dangerous. We've managed to get onto 3 x 342 members ebents on Monday nights since Oscar turned 13 end of June, but there are family court arrangements which mean I don't have him monday nights and his mom doesn't support him karting so he misses out, but we got some in in the school holidays. I'll be doing some enquiring 'again' because a 12 year old girl we know has told us she does Tin Tops and other events with just juniors at Teamsport Coventry so I'm curious, plus Oscar should very soon be living with me....that's when he can truly excel at this sport 💯 Cheers for following us Oakley, and where do you race?
@@Oscarmallettracing i race all over the U.K, my 'home race' would be buckmore park, only live around 20 minutes away from it, go there around 2 or 3 times a month
@@OakleyPlayzMC Damn, just 20 minutes away, lucky bugger ha ha. Oscar's yet to get into outdoor karting properly, 2025 that is the plan 😊
@@Oscarmallettracing remember the name oscar!
Fantastic work Oscar, well done mate 👏
Well done Oscar 👏
@@JoyMallett He kept a straight head out there and rather than risk being put into the barrier again he decided to let Harry find a way past and go through with him knowing 'Cheddar Dick' would be less aggressive with another adult. That shows Oscar's maturity on track which we already know of having seen him deal amazingly with adversity previously....Teamworks Grand Prix in Halesowen comes to mind when he set the fastest (still is) lap of the year in response to being cheated out of a podium finish.
love the vids just got a 46 from all the tips thanks qualified for bikc🙂
@@Jaykx-56 That's awesome dude, I'll let Oscar know when I pick him up tomorrow to head over for the local finals. See you there 👊🏼
I would have gone outside........
@@billybonds571 I have Oscar's entire future to worry about and I won't be risking that over some jack ass. I showed him the footage after the race on my phone and Oscar's helmet cam and then his 20 something over 6ft son wanted to escelate things after daddy stepped down. Stood my ground ofcourse but managed the situation too. I just won't allow someone (an adult) out on track to put Oscar in danger without pulling them up on it afterwards. 2nd time this has happened. Last time was a group of Asian guys, early 20's, the one of them pushed Oscar into tje barrier as Oscar was overtaking then threw both his arms in the air in an attempt to get Oscar penalised. Helmet cam footage shown he was eratic and weaving all over the place to stop Oscar passing. So after the race I approached him infront of his buddies and sternly told him to watch what he's doing out there. His buddies just stood there and leter one of them came over and apologised on his behalf. Oscar's my son, he's tiny compared to everyone he races in public events, I'm always going to stand up for him regardless, but there's no need for fighting.
I hope you're ok after that incident man, I couldn't blame cheddar dick more in my life. You did nothing wrong and I'm sure you will crush BIKC
The slo mo is scary. First ever crash I've witnessed. I take it he was ok after?
@@JoyMallett Like absolutely nothing had happened, he hit the accellerator as the lights went back to Green and raced his way to victory also beating Hamzah Ahmed for the first time with Nihal taking up 3rd spot 💪🏻
its meeee
@@Jaykx-56 yep, now your famous 🤣😂🤣 You can watch Oscar's lines here, his breaking points etc and it should help you get that bit faster 😃

I think I can do a karting sesh next week on either Thursday or Friday, can u?
Loved the video too; of course 😊😊
I won't see Oscar now until September 11th as he's with his mom for the next 2 weeks. September 11th is the day of the BIKC local finals so we'll be here at Teamsport Brum hoping to make top 6 and get through to the regionals. After that Teamsport Brum will be closing while it's upgraded for electric karts so we'll be on the road for a while with Coventry being our main destination. May be able to catch you then, sometime in October I'm guessing.
@@LukeIsonThis was just a fun video, though still took me 10+ hours to make it.
@@Oscarmallettracing Ok then 👍😊
Keep Karting.
@@billybonds571 Naturally, we wouldn't have it any other way 😎
Brilliant, love it 😍👏
great driving!

Well done Oscar, you got them all....those tyres screeching round the bends! (Sorry, can't help you with editing tips though 🤷♂️)
@@JoyMallett I've done better today, around 5 hours of work has meant that tomorrow morning I'll be uploading a new 16 minute video here where Oscar challenges 2 regular members to try and stop him! There's karnage and quality on offer and I try and add a twist of humour 🤪 You'll have to watch to find out what happened 😁
nice driving oscar!
Cheers William, though it wasn't his most perfect run 😊 This video really was just a chance to test out the new editing app. There's plenty (hundreds) of races we have saved from helmet cam and track side view points, so plenty of content to come. Not to mention Oscar karts on average twice per week so there's still plenty more to capture too. Hope you stick around here to see what's coming 👊🏼
Loving the idea of full content. One thing im always sure to think about is the videos' point as it should only need about 5-15 words for the title and centered around the idea that is being gotten across. I see that this is already bejng completed and really like to see the diversity of these tracks and Oscar's skillset to adapt. Can't wait for more 😊
@@LukeIson There's still a long way for me to go regarding understanding how this new editing app works and there are things I wanted to do with this video such as add a funny meme I just could not see how to do. I also would like to have sped up several laps but I just couldn't figure out how to. Baby steps and once I'm more familiar with it then the quality of the content here will ofcourse improve. Next I want to work on a race Oscar had at Teamsport Luverpool against a group of members who all race outdoors for the same team. What Oscar did that night was mind boggling! Keep an eye out for that video, it should be around 20 minutes long and shows the talent Oscar has to be able to adapt immediately to a new track.
@@Oscarmallettracing I bet that Oscar had a blast and beat a lot of oldens like he has done many times before I bet. Just remind him that there will always be someone who has his back (you) and can always be talked to if needed. I'm still looking for some time slots for either TS Leicester or Cov. The earliest I can manage is Saturday 24th August but it might have to be Monday 26nd because I will have just come back from my dad's on the Friday. Please answer back if 24-26 Aug is free for you guys and then we can organise the time slot if possible
@@LukeIson August 24th and 25th we'll be at Gravity car show, NEC Birmingham checking out the latest drift and modded cars and watching the live drift shows. I doubt we'll be karting at all on the 26th as we'll be exhausted from the show. I don't know if I mentioned above but we are at Leicester from 8am until around 5pm then off to Coventry for the rest of the day until maybe gone 11pm on August 4th?
Yeah so I'm off all 4th August 😅 so maybe if you down I can get the 27th or 28th August
So this is our first full length video but in reality it is just a practice run as I (Oscar's dad) get my brain around the editing app 'CapCut' I've just downloaded today. We see plenty of epic karting video's from the likes of Perico Karting, Rob Goes Racing, Robbie Boot, Ben Paines and so on and my mission is to be able to create similar top shelf content to share here detailing Oscar's karting journey. If anyone has any top tips, well I'm 44 and stopped learning tech in the 90's, so pretty much any tips will help. Anyway, I think this video is an ok start, took around 3+ hours to make and fingers crossed that effort will earn a like here 🙏🏻
Go Oscar!!!
One good looking go karting boy right there. I also love to kart but only do it as a hobby. It would be good to arrange something possible in TS Cov and get to know a bit about how it works. You seem like the type of person that really looks out for others.
@@LukeIson Thank you for the positive words Luke 😀 We'll actually be at Teamsport Coventry on Sunday August 4th from around 5pm until closing time after first visiting the Leicester track, feel free to pop along. Our RUclips page here is brand new and will be filling up with content in the weeks and months ahead, you can see some of our journey so far over on Facebook @ 'Oscar Mallett Racing". Oscar is only 8 m9nths into karting and regularly beats karters with years of experience, so what's still to come is very exciting. We are in this years British Indoor Karting Championships (BIKC) so expect to see some posts from September 11th onwards relating to that. Always happy to talk karting 👊🏼 Lee (Oscar's dad)
