I have always liked the looks of the Studebaker Starlight Coupes but prefer the bullet nose of the 50-51 over the 48-49.
Cool Ride...Subbed!
Radio has tubes
@@ralphball5902 yeah but the speaker is gone
Hmmmm. Working outside. Car on the ground. Good luck with that, you’ve got a lotta work to do!
you paid money for that?
I'm seeing it painted flat black with some baby moon hub caps.
Apparently you don't like gloves
@@RickeyToney-s5n yeah not a glove guy I’m not scared to get my hands dirty and cut up
He don't need no stinkin' gloves :)
Thanks for sharing the journey. I sure as hell hope your tetanus shots are current and you can score a Sawzall to carve out all the rust before adding in new metal. Press on, brother!!
She’s awesome put a v8 in it please.
Looks like the frame-rail are eaten away near the spring-hangers. Good luck with that.

I still haven't figured out the tail lights. Those typically were on the Commanders. The Champions didn't have the vertical bars. Search "Rock River Valley Chapter of the Studebaker Drivers Club" for a list of options for these cars. You'll see some of these things listed on your car. Tail lights were not an option listed. It could be someone swapped these out sometime in the past. I'm enjoying this series. Makes me want to get on my 48.
You have your work cut out for you on this project. Thanks for saving an old Studebaker from the crusher. So much metal is gone it will be a challenge but you seem up to the task. Good luck!
thats a big job!
Agree.
@2:30 those wires look loose the the connectors. Did you put any gas in it? Seems to me you are using too much starting fluid.
We all need to subscribe to help these guys get this automotive RUclips channel going.
spark is blue. she's hot bro
Nice shop!!! The Cadillac is beautiful!!! Happy I happened to find your channel.
This car looks like an awesome project. As a retired GM tech. I enjoyed watching you work. Had me laughing a time or two. Thank you
That poor starter 😭
I just found your channel. I'm going to follow you and see how this bill goes build. 😊
Diggin' it. Have now subscribed and watched all your videos. Hope to be a long time subscriber. Plese stay focused. 👍👍 P.S. I have a 77 Fiat 124. Been setting in dry storage for 30 years. Thoughtvit would be a retirement project, but it hasn't happened. I replaced the topmon it. It was easy.
Nice to know this. Thanks!
Good to see your girl not just standing around lookin' perty. 👍👍
Love this rolling art.
😮 She's a runner.
Oh my!
You didnt wear no masks to clean ghat interior. Crazy. Old moldy cars and utube videos are not worth your health.
After seeing ghe underneath of the car. I think the best bet would be to find a modern four banger car and do a body swap. You could have some fun in it on a sunday. Great patina.
I think a cool idea would be to put the Studebaker body on a bmw chassis close to the same wheelbase
Great patina. That lump needs pulling and a modern four banger and trans putting in if you want to make a going to town rig.
1949. But had a big Art Deco influence. Cool cars. I like the over riders. I think they are rare. Good luck..👍👍✌️🇬🇧
That studebaker you are working on is AWESOME! your close to getting it going
Love it every time an old car is saved from the crusher or rust.
This is good stuff!
Ain’t nobody building Studebakers that I can find. S’bscribed.
Cool car and great video. Good luck with the Studebaker. Just subscribed.
Subbed
Can’t watch this anymore you are going to burn up the starter
U can put 12volts to the starter its fine been doing it forever it does not hurt them. Many people do the same especially when they go to 12 V conversion they don’t even mess with the starter
Put in a new coil that has the full 6 volt power.
I use old plastic bed liners. Jack the vehicle up, slide under the axles, set it down & hook my winch to the bed liners. Slides real easy. Doesn't tear the ground up & is easy on my winch. Have used cable comalongs also
It looks like the battery cables are too small for a 6 volt system. Using cables that are either 0 or 1 gauge are what is required to get enough current to the starter to get it to spin fast enough to start the engine. I also recommend attaching the positive cable directly to one of the starter mounting bolts for a better connection. I've own and have worked on Studebakers for more years than I care to remember and the six volt cars have had problems starting if the battery cables are too small.
Yeah these cables are shot and way too small. I’m very familiar with 6 volt systems. I’ll have to make a video of my Hudson that was in the same shape when I got it
CONVERT IT TO 12 VOLT LIKE WE DID ON MY SONS 55 P.UP ! 👍
Hope this car is a good candidate for restoration
Oil filters were optional on '47 Champions. When was it last run. do you know? If it was running since the '80s it probably ran detergent oil, but a lightweight non-detergent oil is what I'd use for her first start-up. I trust you will be bypassing the gas tank for now? Pretty exciting!
WOW! The only other '47 - '52 Starlight I've ever seen with stainless trim all the way around the back glass was a derelict '47 in the Proving Grounds now long gone. I'm guessing this is a SUPER early '47 model and would be VERY curious what the production order from the Museum archives would tell us about it! It's the top trim Champion with stainless rear fender gravel guards and rocker panel moldings, plus fog lights, radio, turn signals and an extra set of front bumper guards. This could be a very special car!
I would love to know what the setup is
451 Stroker with aluminum 80cc head small hit of NOS 150 shot
Nice job I have a blue 69newport 2door 383 dual exhaust as well. ,Thanks for the great footage👍
My ‘69 Newport 383 convertible has single exhaust and a two barrel carburetor. Is your dual exhaust indicative of a four barrel?
11.80 is a respectable time. Congrats.
