I love adventuring in my converted sprinter van and spending time in nature. New Year Reflections: mental health, sobriety, life lessons as a cancer spouse
Hang out with me in Christmas pyjamas for a little coffee talk as I reflect the lessons of 2024! This is a bit of a departure from my regular content but felt compelled to share.
Spoiler alert! I no longer make New Year's resolutions but I do take time to reflect on the lessons of the previous year. 2024 offered up two lessons: the critical importance of safe guarding one's mental health and the magic of going with the flow. Ready to tackle the ups and downs of the coming year with clarity and focus, with optimism and hope! Happy New Year 2025!

Yeah, I would say the benefits of removal far outweigh any benefits of keeping it around. Problem is I think is that the true clarity comes months into it so it makes it challenging to stay the course. Thanks for watching!

I was in the Yukon in Aug 2019. It was something i wanted to do for a very long time. The spell of the north is a real thing. I have a social work background and have been keeping my eye open for a place to buy so that i can move up there. I will soon be an empty nester and my dream is to live in the North. I was in the Yukon for 2weeks and travelled around Whitehorse and all the way up to Dawson and wen to the Tombstone Territorial Park. Property is super expensive up there. I have been receiving updates from a realtor up there and the prices are kind of insane. I don't want that to be the reason i don't make my way up there though. I am turning 42 in January and consider myself still young enough to start a chapter like that. We will see what the next year has in store.
@@UrbanRVLife Hey there! It’s true, anything within close proximity to Whitehorse is very expensive! However, if you’re willing to consider living/working in a smaller community, often subsidized housing is provided making it very reasonable. If you’re looking to buy, real estate is also much more reasonable in smaller communities! Something to consider! Best of luck to you and thanks for watching!
@@onetaketara4429 Hi thank you for your response. Yes i actually want to be away from Whitehorse, even an hour drive away would be awesome. I also looked around Dawson. I would need to work out of Whitehorse or Dawson because Social Work is my livlihood. I would love to live in a smaller community! The goal is to get away from all the people LOL

Out of curiosité, what people do for a living out of these small towns in the Yukon? In the next coming years, I would like to move out West, but wonders what are the opportunities.
People do all sorts of things! Mining, private business, services that support the function of the village, municipal government, school, store, hotel, post office, government services, the First Nation is also a big employer. There’s lots of work up here if you’re willing to work! Housing can be an issue though. Overall, lots of opportunity!
Appreciated this moment of raw beauty!
Thanks for watching!!
This video had potential,...but, honestly at the 5:00 mark,I couldn't take it anymore,...if I wanted to be bored mindless,I'd listen to Justin Trudeau....

Irving would have our hides if we cut a tree off the road like that lol there isn't really anywhere but on our own property that we can cut trees people even get arrested for cutting boughs for wreaths lol
😮 wow!
I don’t know where you live but I live in northern New Brunswick and we cut a Christmas tree every year in on crown land and never had a problem. I Also run into people cutting there Christmas tree or collecting boughs for wreaths all the time, sooo untrue.
I live in a small town of about 400 people in northern maine, in the entire county all we have is a Walmart and jcpenny about an hour n half drive from where I am. I've been here 4 years. 4 HARD LONG years I've been wishing myself away wanting to go back to my roots where I'm from but somehow I seem to not ever take the opportunity to leave I somehow want to stay in this area where I've struggled so much. This year as the last 4 I spend holidays alone. It's hard. But I thank God I love the woods. Like today I am going to go out and make a youtube video for my channel and try to enjoy where I am and what I've got. I enjoyed your version of why you love that area it has helped me ask the question to myself... do I really want to leave?? Probably not

That sounds so magical! I admit, I'm settling down now and I've been places, you know. I'm at that stage, too, where a small town nestled somewhere is just what I'm looking for. I guess now I'm in a small town, but its quite busy. I grew up in a town of 500 in the early 2000's. I had my first babysitting job for 1 family (& sometimes, their neighbors) from my freshman year to my senior year. I didnt have a great home life, so I tried to be gone a lot. But now? I'm pretty happy with life. Although, I do have some plans in the works. My dream is to get some acreage of land & create a book resort where people come to get away, who are book lovers. Camping, cabin, fancy. All levels of stays. We'd have book club and a cozy cafe. And the books. OOoh, the books. Mmmhmm. I think it's important to know it's ok to change your mind as you grow. Nothing is written in stone. What a cozy channel, I'm looking forward to seeing more! Sorry I rambled :D

Doesn't the heating process destroy the beneficial elements of the spruce pitch?
@@kiki-kanoe That is a great question! I am by no means an expert. However, I’ve been thinking about this question and here’s my best guess. I think heating a product will likely diminish some of the beneficial elements, especially at high heat. For example cooking vegetables at high heat takes away some of the nutritional value. I can see it would be similar. In this salve recipe, we are heating the oil and pitch at a very low temperature. The water in the water bath never boils. We are only heating the pitch enough to be able to dissolve it in the oil. Low and slow is intentional in order to preserve as many healing properties as possible. I imagine though if you were to have a cut, for example, and could harvest running pitch directly off the tree and apply it to the wound that it would heal more rapidly than with a salve. It would be fresh, at its peak and be more concentrated. However, as salve can be easily stored, it’s a practical and readily available alternative. This salve definitely still helps to heal cuts and soothe rashes! I can attest to that! If anyone reading this has any expertise in this area, please weigh in!
