    Thanks Chris and Joanne. Sadly there are few people who experience the beauty and wonders of the New English Company Islands and Wessel Islands. I first flew over and around the Wessels in the late 70s early 80s, as an observer with Coast Watch, on a Aero Commander. Then my husband and I experienced it first hand, sailing through the Rip. Sailing through the Rip at low tide on our Cat, was so incredible, as I got to see the graffiti on the walls of the Rip which I hadn't seen flying through, which made me realise just how low we were when flying through. A funny story but a true fact. The Navy Patrol Boats weren't permitted to sail through the Rip back in our day but it never stopped them from doing so. Same as flying with Coast Watch, where we had an exemption to fly as low as 200 feet as we had to record the registrations on all vessels sighted, mainly Trawlers. Seeing the graffiti when sailing through made me realise just how low we were when we flew through the Rip. We never sailed to Vanuatu or New Caledonia but we flew to both destination on holiday. After living in Gove for ten years, we then moved to Karratha in the Pilbara WA for. We finally retired to Townsville in 2006, Australia is such a wonderful country.

      Vanity shelf is something we have been working with Seawind for a while. We had the cupboard option, which has been withdrawn. REALLY not wanting the vanity desk as I can never understand its design, we have been in discussions with Seawind for the last few years. When you get to finalising your design, there MIGHT be a similar option available.

    My boat is next on line, thanks for the quick glance😊 I am headed over in August to check in progress and drop off a Starlink cable for Seawind to route. I havnt decided how to mount yet, but one option I am looking at is mounting on top of the dinghy motor crane. This way I can swing the dish out and in out of the way. I will sort it out after delivery. Must be excited being so close! 🤗

    • @SailingNoRegrets
      @SailingNoRegrets 2 месяца назад

      Starlink position is the big question! I believe both will fit on that section just to the sides as a flush mount. It certainly can sit in front of the 2 rear panels, but with the boom centred for solar it may obstruct view of the satellites. We have just swapped to Gen3 for the thin mount, but it is slightly bigger. We're heading back late July, next update we should have most cabinets in.

      Current base boat price is $820k USD. It really depends on your options but earlier purchasers got in at slightly lower price. I believe that Seawind offer a very competitive price for a very good product with excellent after sales support, and why we are replacing No Regrets 1 (1260 that we loved) with No Regrets 2

  • @davidgravlin6518
    @davidgravlin6518 2 месяца назад

    Talk with Phil H. at OMYC in Pattaya. He has fabricated a Starlink mount that attaches to the side of the coach roof, in the aft corner. Keeps it further away from the boom and the lines.

    • @SailingNoRegrets
      @SailingNoRegrets 2 месяца назад

      Thanks David, I did see the gen2 mount on the side. The gen3 is only 4cm (inch & half) thick so it can sit amongst the solar panels pretty easily. There are modular 3D printed kits available that will keep it completely flush and impossible to catch a stray line. I believe it JUST fits in that space I was measuring, but I will determine that at hand over.

    • @davidgravlin6518
      @davidgravlin6518 2 месяца назад

      @@SailingNoRegrets I have a Gen3 as well, and Phil is modifying that side mount to work with it. I have seen the flat mounted kits from Trio and we did consider that. But given how rapidly technology (and Starlink) is developing, I didn't want to do too much of a "permanent" installation of the dish. I also had concerns about mounting it with a side angle. All that said, it sounds like SL is cracking down on the use of their service in countries where they do not have an agreement to operate. Lots of notices have been going out to boats in the Caribbean that their service will be terminated. Few SE Asia countries have agreements with SL so we could have to revert back to eSIMs if SL cuts off service to Thailand, Indonesia, etc... I'm heading back to Pattaya next week so I'll be crossing my fingers when I power up the SL again.

    • @SailingNoRegrets
      @SailingNoRegrets 2 месяца назад

      I certainly hope SL don't restrict the coverage when you are on the global roam plan. We had no issues in Vanuatu and New Caledonia where it isn't operational, but we were there only a few months. Extended stays may be an issue though. Let me know how it foes for you.

    Hello from Juneau, Alaska. I have been looking at videos of the Seawind brand and really liked the layout of the 1170. Really enjoyed seeing the modifications that you guys have made that are both practical and logical. I completely agree with you that if something doesn’t have a home, it doesn’t stay on board. I own a 30 foot cattle in a sailboat, and have many things on board, that serve dual purposes. That’s one of the things I enjoy about sailing is the necessity to improvise and innovate! I guess one of the things I don’t like about the 1260 is the lack of headroom above the queen size bed in the master suite. My wife and I are tall people: she’s 6 feet tall and I’m 6‘4“ tall. Anyway, thanks for the look at what has been your home for five years and the cool ideas you put into her. I agree with you, there is a strong bond between owners and their vessels. Wishing you more unique adventures ahead. Cheers.

      Yes, the headroom is quite low, it hasn't been too bad as we don't sit in bed. The lower headroom though make less cabin windage and allows great sailing into wind, holding 30-degree apparent wind angle. The 1170 has better headroom and greater load capacity, but you lose the sink and the BBQ isn't nicely kept in the cupboard. Both are great boats and sail well. Thanks for watching

      @@SailingNoRegrets 30° apparent wind angle is impressive even for a monohull! Yeah the 1170 is starting to look better and better for me. Thanks for the good information.

    Good on you for taking precautions, the pox on the other cruisers for destroying coral. It's little wonder FP is clamping down what could've been avoided by floating chain.

      Unfortunately the local guide says to anchor in this location so the cruisers believe they are doing the right thing. But being a diver I see what is really down there, and it was not sand

    So excited to see your build. After following Nick and Terysa’s build, looking forward to see how efficient and quickly your build goes. My wife and I are nearly sold on the 1370. We can’t wait to see your splash day!

      We haven't seen her since Feb, in real time she's only 4 months from launch and progressing rapidly. Hoping to fly over for an update soon

      Good to hear. I just heard back that we’d be hull #797, with a completion date of Jan ‘28. Wow! The 1370 is in demand! Glad everything is going as scheduled for you.

    interesting video... thank you... Strange that it is not mandatory for the owner or the insurance company to remove all remains of a stranded vessel.

      Unfortunately compulsory insurance is not enforced in the places I've sailed and places like Vanuatu don't have the resources to clean up, so these are just left behind

    Swimming in the ocean by your yatch would be safer than being injected with snake venom
