This is the best channel for well produced caravanning travel content in Australia.
We are not the same as the hundreds of other caravanning You Tubers out there!
You won't see us jumping into deep rock pools and hiking long gorges, we are past all that!
You won't see us getting "bogged" and having caravanning accidents. You won't even se us talking about our new caravan or car "reveals"
We promise no "click bait"!
Instead, you will see a couple of "Grey Nomads" enjoying our version of caravan life!
We promise NOT to feature our fishing exploits! We know nothing about fishing, and have no desire to learn 😆 This is a NO FISHING ZONE.
We also promise NOT to show you our cooking and recipe tips, because we are both hopeless at cooking, and have no desire to learn 😆😆 This is a NO COOKING ZONE.
But we will try to show you our view of the spectacular, unusual, arid and changeable Australian scenery in every locations we visit.

Heading south through the “Tall Trees” area to the beautiful S.W. of W.A. And the Albany Peninsula
Просмотров 28514 дней назад
We finally left behind the heat of Perth to spend a cool Christmas in Margaret River, with trips to Busselton, the famous jetty, and the awe inspiring Cape Leeuwin lighthouse, before heading out through the W.A. “Tall Trees” region to Albany. Albany is such a spectacular region, with its beautiful peninsula’s, bays and rolling hills. We stayed at Albany holiday park, a small caravan park just o...

Everything was going so smoothly. We were 8 months into our trip and apart from some mishaps on the Gibb River Road, the trip had ben very smooth, until we headed down to Jurien Bay on the Brand Highway! We lost a tyre on the caravan. It had completely shredded and delaminated, but the really worrying aspect of this was our "Safety Dave" TPMS monitor was showing all 4 tyres at the correct press...
Beautiful, windy Kalbarri & a filthy job cleaning caravan sump pump filter!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Kalbarri and later in Geraldton.😀We did not enjoy the tedious and ridiculous necessity of cleaning our Mountain Trail caravan grey water filter and sump tank 🤬The jewel of Kalbarri is obviously the National Park, with its wildflowers, the famous skywalk, the infamous “Nature’s Window” and the awe inspiring Z Bend lookout. But the town of Kalbarri itself is a gr...

We travel to the world heritage listed Shark Bay Peninsula, staying at the famous Monkey Mia resort, and my goodness, it was windy! We had to “batten down the hatches”. No caravan awning. No windows and roofs hatches open, and nothing lefty outside. Sadly, we had to abandon our plans to visit the very tip of Francois Peron national park…it was too windy! But we did get to enjoy the Monkey Mia r...
Carnarvon, six caravan parks and not much to do!
Просмотров 3273 месяца назад
Carnarvon has no less than six caravan parks, plus hotels and motels, so it’s obviously a popular place…in season. But we arrived out of the main season. We stayed at Discovery Parks in Carnarvon and it was half empty, as we’re all the other parks and motels in town. Still the popular Carnarvon space & technology museum was busy. The one mile jetty museum was not, and after the scenic dive to Q...

We left Exmouth after witnessing, what for us, is a very rare site...rain! From Exmouth we made the short trip to Bullara Station where've had a great 4 night stay. Bullara Station really is a great example of what an outback working station should be, combining the "real" business of a cattle and sheep station, with their "other" business as a caravan park. From Bullara we head down the "Coral...

So we left Port Hedland with our Mountain Trail RV LXV 6.7 caravan an in tow, in 36 degrees heat, and gratefully headed south, hoping for cooler weather. First stop was Point Samson and its expensive caravan park. This is the fist caravan park we have encountered that actually has metal hooks in its concrete slabs, designed to fasten, not your caravan awning down in the event of wind…but your c...
No More Spilling Precious Water! There Has To Be a Better Way to Fill Caravan Water Tanks!!
Просмотров 4,6 тыс.4 месяца назад
This is a light hearted, "tongue in cheek" look at a very simple method we used to modify our Mountain Trail LXV 6.7 caravan. We were both thoroughly "fed up" with constantly getting wet, and getting dirty looks from those waiting behind us at water fill points, as a consequence of the painfully slow and utterly inefficient mechanism for filling the water tanks on our Mountain Trail caravans . ...
Too Darn Hot- Caravanning in the Dampier & Pilbara in a heatwave!

It was just too hot! We had been looking forward to visiting this part of Australia for many years, but unfortunately the heat spoilt our enjoyment. Our Mountain Trail RV LXV 6.7 caravan is a great caravan, and most of the time we can live comfortably in it, but once the outside temperatures get above 35 degrees, it does become difficult. Still we visited Broome, we saw the "Staircase to the Mo...

After just short of two weeks on the Gibb River Road, we finished it 😀 But it wasn't all "plain sailing". How did our "Big Rigs" (Ram 2500 and LC300) and our "Luxury Off Road" Mountain Trail LXV 6.7's cope with the dust, corrugations and mishaps inevitable on the Gibb River Road?

In this “part 2” of our Kimberley trip, we finally leave our base in Kununurra and head up to one of the hottest towns in Australia, and WA,s most northerly town, Wyndham. From there we head to the Pentecost river, where we “camp” on the banks of the river with our two Mountain Trail LXV 6.7 caravans, before the spectacular river crossing with the caravans. Winter Caravanning in the Australian Tropics, Mataranka, Katherine and Kakadu National Park

We left the cool Red Centre behind, as we headed up into the tropics, caravans in tow and escaped the chilly Australian winter. We spent time around Esperance and Cape Le Grande and also enjoyed it although the weather wasn’t as nice for us. Yes, would easily go back again and that might be as early as next year 🤞. Love the West but it sure is a trip to get there from Victoria 😢. Safe travels you two.
Yes getting there from Victoria, unless doing the lap, is a challenge…maybe we will get back there one day 😀
Colour of the water looks amazing 👍🏻
It was Rick!
Nice but where’s the fishing rods Esperance has some of the best fishing in the south west. Wish you all the best
Never been fishing in my life! I don’t know how to do it 😆
Great video where’s next guys?
Esperance…and then cross the Nulllarbor back to Victoria (Mornington) 😀
Ha we are going to be in Mornington for Australia Day long weekend
@ Bugger…we will miss you!
Hello, welcome to 2025, I am curious about your pole camera or is it a small drone? Can you tell me about it in the comments or in a nother future video, thank you, cheers Trevor from Perth, WA
Hi Trevor it’s an insta 360
Happy New Year guys 😊best wishes and safe journeys in 2025. How do you rate the Yeti chairs? Worth the 💰?
HNY to you too Peter. The Yeti chairs are great, but expensive. They are easy to pack up and setup, and reasonably comfortable.
Great video love your style 😊
Thank You😀
BFG KO2
Aren't they supposed to be one of the best tyres??
Yes indeed…they are!
Belated Happy birthday 🎂 What brand were your TPMS? Enjoy Bunbury & Margs and Happy Xmas 😊
It was Safety Dave TPMS 😡
@@4and2VanningI run iCheck TPMS on our dual axle Zone RV which has pressure and temps plus audible alarm. What tyres were you running? Glad you are both ok.
TOYO Open Country AT2
@@4and2Vanning I run a TPMS that is identical to the Safety Dave and find I need to use a booster to reliably monitor the caravan tyres. Ring Safety Dave and he'll sell you one.
I already had the booster!!!
Just wonderinf what your thoughts are on this hitch and doesnt improve ride quality?
It’s heavy and expensive, but it certainly makes for a great ride quality, although IU have only ever towed this current caravan with the GenY hitch so I dont really have a point of comparison.
Love the travels guys. It’s a shame about the van design fault.
Thank You…yes it is a shame…
Omg grey water myth we used to use our grey water for the gardens during drought time 40 ago 😂
I absolutely love this do. Thank you. I can almost smell Pete’s coffee. You know, I’m in two minds about national park fees. I fundamentally disagree with them but I understand the govt wants to monetize everything; demonstrated by the stupid ranger feeding wild dolphins. What a truly beautiful place where for generations, people were able to go there, visit and explore and not have to pay. Its becoming more and more like Asia. I mean nice signs and walkways are all well and good but it’s getting a bit too commercialized with no limit on the horizon. As beautiful as MM is, I think if I was a caravanner I would give it a miss, travel 80klms further down the road and enjoy equally beautiful scenery for free. But I think Monkey Mia & Shark Bay are amongst the most beautiful parts of Australia. I love the drone shots Pete, they are fantastic. Ryan is a gun, I love it how the Aussie way is so helpful. Thank you once again. I love living through your videos. And I never knew WA was so damn windy lol😂
I agree with you Chris about NP fees. It does seem to be a money making scheme!!
Great footage of the blowhole and the sea spectacular !!
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it😀
which size hitch tightener did you go with? was it a 2" or the 2.5" tightener?
2.5 inch
👍🏻another good vid guys we are off to wa next year good insights
Where are you going Rick?? Are you doing the whole coastline??
@@4and2Vanning yep heading back home now then next January heading to sa up the middle Darwin then down the wa coast
Great solution. I extended the drains out to beyond the chassis and put a tap on each with hose fitting. I just push on the fill hose, turn tap on and fill tank individually. This also means I can drain each tank. This also means if I need fresh water I can fill kettle from outside without pump should it fail.
What a great idea. I’ll think about doing that 😀
It's most likely your diet
Lol
What a stunning and picturesque Vdo. Thank you once again. Hey did I see Jill swimming in the sea or was that a figment? Hey Pete, did I miss the repair to the toilet door in the van? I would love to have seen how that went. Cheers
Jill swimming in the sea was definitely a figment of your imagination Chris 😆. The door was repaired a few weeks ago. The top running track had not n been fitted correctly by MTRV. It should have been glued and then bolted…they forgot the glue bit! 😫
tourists are destroying thus country pooing everywhere pollution everywhere
are forget it
@brasso1964 eh?
Err…can you elaborate?
Enjoy your video! Thankyou for sharing your experiences! Would you know somewhere i could buy a set of que cards, for the glovebox, on propper towing techniques, please?? Kind regards, r
Glad you enjoyed it. Not sure what you mean by cue cards ???
Some tanks filler is half way up the tank. If you are using the filler as a breather you may not get a full tank. Another option is find the 12mm breather return fitted at the back of filler. Look in cupboard or under bunk. Cut it back from the filler,go to Bunnings get 12 mm T piece a length of clear plastic pipe and a on off tap for each filler. Hole through the floor near fillers drop pipe out fit tap on end. Open tap when filling close when finished. I also open when I’m doing washing water flows better. Breathers in the fillers too small that’s why we get blow back.
Thanks Trevor. Good points. I think the filler in this instance is at the top of the tank. I actually use a Bunnings water flow meter when filling up and I usually get to within 5% to 10% of the theoretical tank maximum capacity. Thanks again 😀
Thanks guys. I've been mucking around for ages now always filling my tank from the bottom drain plugs one tank at a time . I just push the hose over the drain tap male bayonet. Still very fussy as I still have to lay in the dirt to push the hose on . Thanks for your video. No more getting wet and dirty .
Glad the video helped 👍
I did exactly the same with our three tanks as I too got sick of it taking forever. One thing I added was a T piece on each “drain/fill” line with another valve to allow draining of each tank. I am now using HoseLink fittings to connect mains water and the fill point. I prefer the HoseLink fittings as no potential to fail. Do like Colins idea of a non return valve on the fill points. Certainly makes the filling so much quicker and easier.
Good idea to add the T piece…I’ll mention that to Colin as a suggestion 👍
Another great vid guys keep them coming interested which way you’re heading 👍🏻
Hey Rick…We are in Karratha now, now heading down the coast via Exmouth and Monkey Mia until we get to Perth at a vey leisurely pace in December
Learn to pronounce the Australian townships.. Your not in the Pommie land
Thanks .will try harder. What is “Pommie Land”?
I just so loved this vdo. You are showing me places I could only ever dream of seeing. And I so love the detail in the vdo. Thank you so much for including me! ❤
Glad you are enjoying the Chris…I put the fuel price in just for you 👍
I agree Broome been there doubt if i wouldgo back very over rated
You made Jill very happy Dave, she thought she was the only person who didn’t like it 😆
Liam loved Broome, especially the camels! Wouldn't you like to take Liam and Ivy to Cable beach, grandma?
Ha ha
Great video guys, I think you done well considering only minor issues, we have just completed cape York with same sort of issues but still determined to do the gibb next year in our van 👍🏻
Ahhh Rick we are planning to do Cape York next year…we will see!
How can a new plate make everything ok
It doesn’t!!
So you pay for 960 watt of Solar but the system will only give 600 odd . Shouldn't the factory sort that out not you have to pay to have this fixed ?
Ha Ha… yes logically you would expect the manufacturer to provide a better solution… but in reality….
So I’ve just finished watching Part 3 on this lazy, rainy Sunday morning, and what a show it was. Sorry about your knee Pete, I hope it gets well soon. It was so cool Colin & Bridget could make up for some of the footage at Manning Gorge River. I also love the detail about the flat tyre and how you guys have learnt so much about taking care of your vehicles. What great travelling companions Colin and Bridget are, Colin is so helpful. I can’t wait to see when you get to Broome and fix that door. Jill is so funny! 😂. But what a great vdo. I really feel like I’m there with you guys. Next time you do a fuel stop, let us know how much you are filling up and what. Cheers my dear friends. Thank you so much. Xx
I’ll do that Chris…just for you 😀
Another fantastic vdo Pete & Jill. I really appreciate the details about the problems you’ve experienced. There is so much in this vdo. Brilliant. Thank you so much!
Thank you Chris
Okay but what we really want to know is if the Landcruiser and the Ram were in a fight, who would win?
The Ram every time…😆
We thoroughly enjoyed the time on the Gibb. The MT survived so much better than others. Lost out tee doors and chassis failures seem typical of the GRR.
The Mountain Trail did well and so did the four of you. Thanks for taking us along for the ride. Tell Bridgid we didn’t notice the dust at all 😂😂.
Thanks Jeff. It was a great trip. I told Brigid😆😆😆
Yes you got away without any really major failings. Many other vans don’t survive nearly as well but you were probably a little more careful in your driving I’m sure. Keep safe folks and enjoyed the vision.
Yes careful driving and hopefully a van that is designed for this rough stuff
It’s been a fantastic journey and it can only get better.
Yes absolutely
Fantastic viewing guys Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it 😀
Your vehicle wearing National Heavy Vehicle lic plates
Yes it is…
Great footage and commentary as we have come to expect from you both. Great to have good travelling companions and so helpful to boot. Well done Colin. We enjoyed our trip over the top in 2014, stayed at Timber Creek a few days and did the river cruise. It was much “safer” then though. Fabulous country.
Thank you Jeff. Yes it's a great country, it's just such a pity that places like Timber Creek have been ruined by its population. Its not so much that its "unsafe" its just that apathy has taken over and no one seems to care about anything...
@@4and2VanningVery sad it is Pete. We have great memories of our several days there and the boat trip down the river.
Well Pete & Jill, as usual, another first class production with great and informative narration. The scenery is just superb and I loved seeing those random boab trees. The quality of the vision and the various drone and pan shots really give a great perspective. Colin is a gun, helping with all those upgrades and great upgrades too. Thank you so much.
Thanks Chris. Yes they scenery is absolutely spectacular...and Colin is indeed a gun 😀
what rear camera did you get to fit and where from. any tips for fitment
Hey Glenn… it’s a genuine Mopar part imported from the USA, although I bought mine on eBay. If you send me a message via facebook I’ll send the part reference number.
Great video. Always enjoy watching your adventures. Safe travels

How long have you guys been in Australia? Just love your accents

Yep… should have 😀
Wow.Sending you a revised compliance plate after you’ve spent over $100,000 on a new caravan.More regulation of the caravan industry is required and heavier penalties implemented for misleading/incorrect information supplied to the customer.Hopefully, more people will do their home work before laying down their hard earned cash.Happy caravanning.
Totally agree. The industry is a shambles!
Funny story about the Midnight Oil house. Last time I was down that way I was looking for photo spots and I saw a little house out in the field, so I pulled over and took some photos. It wasn’t until I put the photo on Facebook that people were saying that I must be a Midnight Oil fan. Actually I can’t stand Midnight Oil and had never seen their album cover. To me it was just something random which I happened to see while driving past. I am a Ken Duncan fan though
Ken and I had many a “crossed word” over the years, but he was certainly a great photographer
