i once heard that starcraft was a recycled attempt at a war hammer game

well im pretty sure protos dont attack zergs that much ( but still they where on heaven ) becuse almost all of them are dead ? overmind dont make kerigan to save evryone but to make zergs free, it pretty cool, like GGG said, only someone like overmind could break mindcontrol that way XD. well alt future in wings is easy, all what left from protos is all what dark templars where able to save but this time zaratul dont die... and well im gusse after losing aiur a lot of protos ships end up having mix crew so i can see how some of they heros and one mothership having artanis where save. i would say you trying to find problems where there non or non big ones.. sc2 story is good but it is dragged down by, Kerigan's arc going in all directions at once which makes her unstable as a character, and by the lackluster amon ( + epilogue ) but everything else is ok or really cool, they changed the stories of kerigan and reynor, they expanded based on those glimpses that raynor had when kerigan was in the cocoon in the first game, but at the same time we didn't get any comics for it, at least not patches available... a lot of things have this impression, BUT HOW DOES IT WORK?, but it's the same with sc1, and I would blame it on being rts. in sc1 there are more characters that are nicely designed, but apart from that, both games, if you care about the story, are cool... only the one Kergian and Amon. sc2 would benefit if the game could see the comics they published in a separate tab, and some mini comics summarizing some books, like EVOLUTION. The truth is that many people tell themselves how bad this story is, including you. I wasn't there when the first SC came out and I started playing SC2 without knowing SC1, but over time I caught up on the stories for both games, in fact, usually the stories are really cool in both, and I certainly wouldn't say they're bland or sucks... especially not Legacy of the Void where learning about the protoss culture while traveling on an ark beats all SC1's attempts at figuring out what the protoss are,

I saw that title and instantly thought "agreed." Starcraft's main draw has always been multiplayer play, and the story just gives context and lore to the factions in game. In Starcraft 1, main thing I hated was Kerrigan. Suddenly a "human" influence is thrown into the very alien Zerg mix, and it became more about appeasing her whims than anything else. Then the lack of logic on the part of the Protoss, the constant "we must unite" between the various Protoss factions. It feels like you give these races so many powers and abilities and coolness, then you take it all away again by nerfing their logic or throwing in a character that's just annoying. Starcraft 2 just keeps that going. Wings of Liberty: Kerrigan is important, Mengsk bad. Heart of the Swarm: Kerrigan is cured, then made Zerg again because it didn't make sense to unZergify her but she needs to be "good." Legacy of the Void: Amon dicks with the Khala because he magically can, and Kerrigan is still important and the game won't let you forget that.

For Niadra, her story continued in the comics where she ultimately ends up killing Urun iirc.

I did not play or watch the first Starcraft, so I cannot judge the transition; but the only real issue I find storywise in st2 is Kerrigan. Kerrigan and her whole arc makes absolutely no sense. Soldier that is betrayed by her leader gets mindcontrolled to become a monster and kill millions of her previous allies, then is unmindcontrolled and unmonsterfied just to... go back to become a monster that kills millions to get her revenge on the leader that betrayed her, then... regrets and saves all existance by becoming a god (???????). Amon is just a superboring saturday morning show villain, but it works. He gets the job done, with bare minimum, but does. The epilogue is trash cause it's literally mixing the 2 worst part of the story. Kerrigan and Amon. Like it doesn't even make sense with itself. Listen. To create a Xel'naga, the "endless cycle", you need to mix purity of form and purity of essence; it's practically told out loud that this is Protoss and Zerg. Yet, Kerrigan a mix of Human and Zerg with no Protoss whatsoever is the one to ascend into a Xel'naga. How? I mean it would be kinda of a cool twist if at the end the oh so entitled Protoss actually had no purity of anything and it was humans all along; but it's never ever even comented upon, like it's not a plot point at all. Also, when Kerrigan shows to Jim like in sorta of a vision like actual fucking YEARS later is like... Why? Wtf? Also what, are we ignoring the fact that now Zagara is in control of the Swarm and probably is still very much on board with devouring all other lifeforms or... what? It's not like Zergs are now allies are they? Other than that I would say that both WoL and LotV actually work pretty well. Could have been better, but has some very hype moments. It's solid. Still my favourite one is HotS cause... you know, having a superop hero unit and swarm all over your enemies is kinda fun. The whole campaing is also significantly more focused into sieging enemy defenses rather than defend yourself and I prefer that game style. The whole Khala thing also kinda makes sense cause, basically plaging the psyonic link that echoes and shares emotions and thougths could be definetly be used to take control over someone's actions, even if it's not a hive mind. Also the Zeratul missions on WoL are supposed to be visions, visions of stuff that could maybe perhaps happen. This is probably a future where Amon has control over the whole Swarm, Kerrigan probably included (or out of the picture) so he saw no need of touch the Khala.

SPOILERS FOR BOTH MOVIES AND BOOK 1/2/sort of 3 Key instances in Dune where an individual’s choices matter: • Jessica’s decision to not give the bene gesserit a daughter, as per their breeding program, and instead give Leto a son in Paul. • Paul’s decision to go south kicks off a galactic jihad. • IN BOOK 3 a singular character’s choice will ultimately deliver humanity from extinction. SPOILER END I think what the movie (and the books) try to communicate is more of a sense that the ability of prescience/foresight traps people into stagnation.
