This may just be my favorite one off of Total Devo as of late. Mark's vocal delivery just does it. And while i know the Roland D50 was all over this record (for better and for worse) it absolutely works here.

it really speaks to the amazing quality of this entire release (Chorus). this is a terrific little pop gem and seems almost hidden among the songs on the album and is likely about #6 on the album in terms of my personal faves.

Total Devo is not their best album in my opinion but I enjoy it very much. Some things never change.

I dont get the people hating this song cos it 'villifys' the handicapped, it does nothing of the sort. It if anything mocks the exact sort of selfish entitled bully who would likely mistreat the handicapped along with hi workers and family...and thus make life harder for all downtrodden folk in general. The song is about KARMA. A rich abusive crook who gets what is coming to him! This isn't a 'I love being the villain' song, this is a fun spin on a 'greek tragedy ballad' sorta song! Its about a rotten, ambitious unsubtlely bad man, being his own undoing and now seeing what its like to walk(bad accidental pun 😅) in a handicapped person's more difficult shoes and now has to live with what he's done to ruin his and others lives! Whats not to enjoy about that!

I'm just now getting into Gary Numan and I love this version of Magic. Still am excitedly awaiting my copy of this CD set in the mail!
