Florida Natural Farming
Добавлен 3 янв 2019
These videos are filmed Frog Valley Tropical Fruit Farm, a Nature based farm plan combines soil health with Functional Regenerative Farming methods
Florida Natural Farming is a Holistic Farming method, developed by Eric Dale over the past 13 years combining soil health and taking inspiration from Biodynamic Farming, Organic farming, Permaculture, Syntropic Agroforestry, Indian Zero Budget Natural Farming, Korean Natural Farming, Japanese Natural Farming and Indigenous farming methods that enable us to dry farm rare tropical fruit trees
We use small daily fertility inputs from Miniature Zebu Cows🐸
We sell fresh tropical fruit, fresh seeds
We grow more than 100 different species of exotic fruit trees and 50 types of top tier Mangoes along with a host of other rare plants both for food and as support species
We have been growing continuously in Florida since 2011 and at this site in Vero Beach since November 2015

is there any fruit trees you recommend for partial shade?
Up here we are limited to Bananas and Citrus maybe Garcinia but in warmer climes probably others do well in partial shade🐸❤️thank you
keep making videos of your new project, although we don't have the same climate conditions and that I use chickens, absolutely enjoy your journey and progress with the new land..going to take until Spring, I imagine, until life will start bouncing back..we also let our medicinal and food weeds to flourish when they pop up..beautiful land and cute pets, made me research zebu..
I enjoy making videos and it is nice to have a video diary of out transformation🐸What the video do not show is the vibrational, positive energy the Zebus exude, they are special🐸the weeds are amazing🐸❤️thank you
nice hat & great video !
Thank you🐸❤️
Great video. Those tall orinoco bananas sure are hardy.
Yes they seem quite fine with the cold so far, hopefully they will last, Thank you🐸❤️
In one of your videos you talked about soil probiotics and prebiotics, that told me alot about what im doing wrong in terms of farming. I was wondering if there was anything you would recondemnt in terms of anuals and soil pro and prebiotics, because i would think that anual plants are like a prebiotic themselves so they wouldnt need too much preobiotics, but more probiotics to innoculate the soil.
I would use clean hay as a soil prebiotic as it is easily consumed, after seeds zebu manure is probably the best probiotic I have found but chopped up plant roots, soil aggregates, humus even earthworm castings will work, but again the best probiotic is a variety of seeds as many different varieties that included perennials, annuals, tree, herb, grass, et. al, all above mentioned used together would be best🐸❤️thank you
@@floridanaturalfarming3367 do you think 3 sisters a good way to inoculate the soil? I dont know if I ever heard of you talk about that.
It is a well known way, I think 3 sisters was meant to try and show us that planting seed diversity together helps the plant community, it definitely inspired me to experiment🐸❤️thank you
Our calves that stay on their mothers for long periods out grow the others which may have lost their mothers. We bottle feed such calves but the ones on their mothers grow at literally twice the speed. Love the video as always. Just sharing your knowledge is better than almost all RUclips channels. So I don’t think you have to worry in which direction your channel goes. It will always be appreciated by those who really want to understand how to properly grow plants.
The calves that stay on their mothers definitely grow better and are very well adjusted, thank you for confirming this🐸thanks for your support it is greatly appreciated🐸❤️thank you
5:57 game changer to stop watering. We stopped because locally it’s becoming an issue as our aquifer runs dry. In my opinion it was the best decision I’ve made so far I have to really think about what’s going on on my property now and I have to try to accumulate as much organic matter and water as possible or keeping living roots in the ground for as long as possible. It’s just a mine shift once you get it there’s no turning back.
People are slaves to water, it is a learned behavior, as a child in California we didn’t water anything except stuff in raised beds🐸I am surprised so many people water in Florida, especially perennials, a total waste of a vital resource that needs conservation🐸❤️thank you
I always really enjoy watching your videos, someday I would love to be able to come take a tour of your place as well as many other places that I adore!
Do you use LAB or EM1? It’s a game changer to start the natural system to start coming alive.
Thank you🐸❤️
I have used along with several different microbial inoculants, probably the best results I have seen is with banana root ferment with fresh cow dung then flung onto everything which is what I used here🐸Probably in most cases just mass planting of diversity of seeds would be all that is needed for microbial inoculants🐸❤️thank you
Good morning from New Amazonia, New Eden ✌️ 🌎
Greetings, Thank you🐸❤️
Good morning ! Thanks for sharing !
Good morning thank you🐸❤️
What a beautiful farm. Looks like Zebu heaven.
Thank you, it is🐸❤️
Hey, Congratulations on selling your farm, I’m new to the channel and have to do some exploring to get to know you better. I heard you used to sell fruits or atleast the madroño fruit, if you somehow still do that, even though you sold the farm, I would be interested to purchase many different fruits. If not i totally understand you. Greetings from Germany.
Thank you🐸❤️I am retired from selling fruit and seeds but the new owners say they will be offering fruit, seeds and plants, when they give me the go ahead I will relay their information but that will not happen for at least a month🐸
Thanks you 🙌

AWE.

Awesome about the sale!! I find giving our cattle no supplements at all is only positive. Combined with no poisons and nice long grass is the best way to go. Also we have learnt that having the right breed makes a lot of difference.
Thank you, we are very happy❤️🐸it really surprises me here what people feed to there cattle, mostly high fat processed gmo grains, mineral supplements, lickable everyday wormers, and grazing herbicide on pastures, to me their cattle certainly do not look very healthy, they just want them fat🐸yes the right cattle breed for the right location is important🐸🐸🐸
Congratulations Eric to you and your partner. I hope the buyers realize they bought a gold mine. I know it's a bitter sweet feeling for you but life marches on. Keep doing what you do. The world needs more people like you.
Yes the new buyers see value in healthy food and biodiversity🐸The seeds have been planted at Frog Valley Tropical Fruit Farm, health and good fortune will follow🐸❤️thank you
Wow!! Congratulations!!! I know they will enjoy It. I have memories there and I will miss it.
Hi Mary, thank you, me too🐸❤️
@ Me and Robert will always remember that beautiful food forest but I know you will have your new homestead beautiful it will just take time.
@ ❤️❤️❤️
Sending you a huge hug Eric! Forever grateful for our friendship all the growth that’s come out of you sharing FVF with us all. ❤️Congrats on finding a well suited family to pass the torch to. Love seeing the new zebu additions and excited for what you’re now creating at Ups & Downs Zebu Ranch. 🌸❤️
Hello Gemma, you are far too kind🐸Yes I am very happy with the direction FVF will be going in🐸The exciting new and cute Zebu additions are super fun, hopefully when Hank grows up our future zebu babies will come with lots of color🐸❤️thank you
Congrats Eric! Also looks like you're going to have a massive banana jungle at the new spot!
Thank you, we love the spot something amazing hopefully❤️🐸
What! Congratulations 🎉
Yes, I am now officially a “zone pusher” full time, lol🐸❤️Thank you
It's suoer sad for me .. totally wish I could have been the lucky family.. hope I'll still get to visit them.. always much love Eric💞🐸
Be happy, FVF will remain and grow, a energetic young family is exactly what she needs🐸❤️thank you Anthony
25:36 I’m definitely a little bummed about the old farm but I’m also really excited to watch your process from the beginning this time since I found your page so late into your system last time. It’ll be a blessing to my knowledge that’s for sure.
I am sad but happy also plus excited for the new owners an the direction FVF is headed same path just older, bigger, better🐸❤️thank you
19:59 I thought the reason people did biodynamic preps was to be self sustainable to be able to cultivate everything yourself on site in situ. Just like Korean Natural farming. It’s just like turn off though there are input ideas that do not allow you to stay in Scituate but there are workarounds for it it’s longer processes and you have to eliminate fermented plant juice and replace it with fermented plant extracts as it doesn’t require sugar. But then you have to consider that some climates don’t allow you to create all of the prep for a OHN so you’d have to cultivate plants indoors in order to even achieve the preps in some environments. So I get where you’re coming from The natural farming ideas makes sense but at times they also don’t make sense because people are trying to ship them across the country and they’re not actually following the principles of keeping things in situ.
I only made fermented plant sprays without molasses and used them while Biodynamic certified, natural farming is the original biodynamic farming minus all the bd dogma just deconstructed🐸❤️thank you
@ yeah I just started my preps in the fall for BD. I’m pretty excited to see results myself.
They are lucky that you've created such a beautiful forest!
Yes they certainly are🐸❤️thank you
Farm looks good! Hey, that weed at 19:40 that you are pulling on, try it. It is so good. I think it's called "wood sorrel".
I put it in salads but eat it out of hand as well. You probably already know that. I just found out about them and they are everywhere here. So darn good.
Thank you, I will definitely check it out, sounds great🐸❤️🐸
Congratulations on the sale...
Thank you🐸❤️🐸
I just bout a 2 feet imbe..and found out that i need a male and female to get fruits 😢😢..then i have to wait 2-3 years to flower..any advice ?? I want to keep it
No male is necessary just a lone female will work and produce well, yes everyone must wait for fruit, thank you
❤❤ thank you
The newly planted bananas doing great too
Thank you, Bananas are hanging in there🙏🏼🌱🐸❤️
Greetings Brother Eric ... The Fall garden looking really nice, especially the lettuce and potatoes
Greetings Brother Dan, stuff is creeping along better than I assumed🐸❤️thank you
Lol, all the fruit forums I am in on facebook people are freaking out spraying chemicals to try and protect their trees from a *possible* freeze. Brassinolide or whatever its called is the chemical. Crazy that people are going to be eating fruit from that tree a few months afterward after dosing it with chemicals
Facebook is a mess of misinformation, even the weather models are clickbait. Reddit is so much better.
@@networkzsupport yea I dont rely on it as a source of information, just fun to watch everyone freak out and think they are helping the system lol. Plus its nice to see which people's tree's are flowering in different areas of Florida. Still some useful info on there, unfortunately not as many people use reddit
I am glad to stay in a stress free natural farming bubble🐸❤️thank you
Also i know a women up the road who just throws raw cow manure and her whole yard is growing like crazy , Port St. Lucie Fl
Yes cow manure definitely will make stuff grow well, no knowledge needed🐸❤️thank you
Around how much did it cost to drill a well that deep ?
Prices of wells have tripled since we put ours in, I have not verified but I was told they are now around $20’000 for a artesian well, gotta call a well drilling company for an exact number🐸❤️thank you
I am planning on getting a decent size lot like yours, as you mentioned, it would be a ridiculous amount of work trying to mulch it with wood chips , it takes a full 7 days of work trucking and wheelbarrowing mulch just for a normal size house lot (.3 acre) , probably would cost several thousand to hire someone to wheelbarrow it all in (only access is a door size opening ), sure we mulched but at first and built alot of black soil but probably have enough now, i'm definitely glad to see your system working without all that extra work which could actually be wasted time, its not a good quality of life mulching too much like on a larger lot as recommended unless that is your job or something, great tour as always learned alot, i havent seen any of your shows for a while , ive been on food tours that kept me too busy to see youtube , its nice to relax and enjoy a walk through your orchard again ! good luck with the cold winter !
There definitely is a better way than mulching out all the seed bank and plant life and that is diverse plant life as a living mulch below and above ground🐸Not a very cold winter so far, just typical, the nonstop heat is brutal with the humidity and insects, a slight change of season is definitely welcomed by me🐸❤️thank you
Hi Eric, Did you trim the flowers off your mango trees when they were young, or did you just let the tree decide whether to hold flowers/fruit? I have a 7g M-4 thats been in ground for a year now, and its flowering but I was wondering if I can let the tree try to hold fruit or if you trimmed the fruits of your trees at first?
Hi, our Mangoes held fruit as newly planted 3 gal without any issues🐸when in doubt, leave the tree alone🐸❤️thank you
Back from Xmas travels. Great to listen to your video. That’s very deep for a “Well” ours is only 50ft deep . Very lucky when tested the long time drilling company said it was the purest water they had ever tested , 200 ppm . Doing some planting today and generally catching up. Things growing so fast here now we are getting some good rain combined with the heat. Will be interesting as our system grows to see how much more frost resistant and how much more the frosts are kept at bay. An old bushman’s trick is to hug a tree if you are cold and lost in the bush. As they naturally are a lot warmer than freezing air temperature. So makes sense that Food Forest will be warmer than open pasture or bare ground. Appreciate as always.
Thank you🐸❤️we have a shallow well for the house about 35’ but the artesian well is 550’🐸Happy planting
Happy New Year! Everything looks so beautiful! 😀 When does your gold caimito fruit? I’d love to get seeds.
Happy New Year🐸I probably will not have gold star apples for several years if all goes well, green, purple and white should all be ready to start flowering🐸❤️thank you
Where did you get the cow horns for the BD 500
@ I purchased them from the Josephine Porter Institute in Virginia they make Biodynamic Preps🐸❤️
Happy New Year, Brother Eric. Sending you good vibes and great health to you and your family for 2025 and beyond.
Happy New Year Brother Dan, I hope all your wishes come true❤️🐸
would the jaguar cacao grow in deep shade as well? i have a good amount of oak trees on my lot and therefore a lot of shaded land
Yes that’s where I plant all Cacao🐸❤️thank you
Yeah Florida would have been a sight to behold back when it got its name. Happy New Year Eric! Looks great. We're going to try to make it over there sometime soon.
Yes Florida, so much lost, thank you🐸❤️
Any thoughts on using bamboo in your systems?
We have two timber bamboos but I concentrate on rare fruit🐸❤️thank you
Can’t wait to listen to, but traveling atm. Maybe later tonight.
Safe travels🐸❤️
Nice! You said it was just lawn. How long did it take to grow?
We have been here 9 years, it usually grows once you stay off it some areas took the whole 9 years to grow🐸❤️thank you
Your place is amazing..I'm 7 years on 1 acre and always in awe of your tropical forest and looking forward in '25 to see what you can do with your new canvas up north.Happy New Year..all the best.

Yes indeed, Happy New Year🐸❤️thank you
The two achacha you gave me I planted and are doing well!
Excellent❤️🐸Happy New Year
When do you spray on your BD 500? What time of the year ?
I used to spray when I felt the need which was constant, thankfully I no longer feel the need. I bury and leave the horn, worked better for our perennial system❤️🐸thank you
@@floridanaturalfarming3367 What is "the horn"?
@@allwaysbetter552 uh BD500, in the horn
@@floridanaturalfarming3367 BD500, also known as horn manure, is a biodynamic preparation created by packing cow manure into a cow horn and burying it in the soil over the winter months. ok now i understand
Mines , blooming too chances are early varieties might bloom twice this year
(Edward)
Last year mine repeated blooming 6 times and it was too hot for set on their last bloom, looks like all 270 of ours are blooming in unison now , early, mid and late, all looks good for the next 10 days🙏🏼🌱🐸❤️thank you
Mulch=cover. Your food forest is full of living mulch! What an aspiration for our small backyard garden. Thank you for the tour.
Cover=usually better than mulch🐸❤️thank you
Awesome as always. You are 100% correct living roots are the best mulch. I saw a study recently that showed that living roots were up to 500% more efficient at turning soil around than compost or dead mulch. I’ve been super keen on living roots. Yes I use some chop and drop , but that’s just to help my system get going. We have an enormous mango tree on our place ( one of the few that were on our place on arrival) we have been harvesting lately and only got about 200 mangos. We have had well over a 1000 in years passed. I was thinking of giving it a major major prune this year as we simply can’t reach the mango. What’s your thoughts on pruning a tree like this. I’d find it offensive if someone said they would introduce hydroponics to my place. People are clueless, that’s for sure.
Pruning too much could prevent any fruit next year, you got all those cows, give it a bunch of manure, cow manure makes them fruit🐸sometimes I just have to laugh at some of the stuff people say, I am not sure what the infatuation with hydroponics, they thought they would grow Bananas that way, lol🐸❤️thank you, Happy New Year
A lot of people are saying that there is a very severe cold front coming in January. Projecting 20 degree weather to southern Florida. If something like this does happen will you do anything to protect certain species of trees and other plants you have or do you believe that since you have the correct microbiology your plants would survive without any help?
I get my weather from the news not what people are saying and the weather channel does not show below 40 and yes I will not do anything to protect the trees, it has been 31 here in Vero in the past and our Cacao held fruit to maturity without any issues. I do not stress during drought and I definitely do not stress from cool weather.🐸❤️Thank you
