Welcome to my channel. I'm a former suburban housewife, reinvented to live my dream and become a country girl. I moved my family from a small suburban community on Long Island, NY to a rural homestead in Upstate NY. We went through many challenges, and now are facing the dreaded empty-nest and retirement. I put the scent in one of 5 buckets and directed Misty to each one. She is very good at finding the scent, but I now want to teach her to lay down to alert that she has found it. Sorry for the closeup, I'm still trying to get better at filming.

I've begun training Misty to find a scent. I put some ginger on a cotton ball and hid it in different places. When Misty is in her place she cannot see past the bikes and can't see where I'm hiding it. I made a few mistakes, but we're both learning.

Why is her mouth closed,what is the reason
She's wearing a 'Halti' brand headcollar. It allows them to open and close their mouth, but gives a bit of control so they don't pull ahead. I'm trying to transition her to using only the Martingale collar alone instead of the Prong collar. It's taking a bit of work because she is very forward, which is typical of a German Shepherd.
