The rest of the journey is complete and the footage starts at 12.30 and ends at 17.22. A 20 minute stop was made at Watford Gap services. No roadworks or holdups were encountered on the journey.

This video is a compilation of cine reels filmed between 1954 and the 1970's. The sequences are not in any particular date order as the reels of film had become mixed up over the years. The filming was done using an 8mm cine camera and was taken by my grandfather and my father. It is mostly of the Forrest family but also contains some Strickland family footage.

Hello Ian! What a treasure - this video is lovely. I am volunteering with the Friends of Otley Lido and I am really keen to speak to you about this video to ask you about it and see if we could share the footage. Would I be able to give you a call or speak via email perhaps?

My business (A. Miles & Co.) sold Newing-Hall machines in Queensland, Australia from 1994 until the mid 2000's. They were all the smaller USA made machines with the NEE Apex controllers. I visited Airedale Works in 1998 I think it was. I have some footage which I must get around to uploading one day. The factory was already in decline by then, with only a handful of workers on site. The large moth-balled kitchen was evidence of how many workers it must have supported at one stage. These days our business includes a heavy-duty engraving service, and I have both an AMC2 controlled PantoCut and MillGrav working to this day. I love those machines more than I logically should. From reading your comments I surmise that you probably had a hand in building my MillGrav. Possibly the PantoCut too!

I more than likely did build your machines and I'm happy to hear that they are still working after all this time. I always enjoyed building the pantograph-based machines, there was an acquired skill in setting up and "squaring" the pantograph prior to taper pinning the bars to the bodies. The Milgrav did away with that and on the early ones the aluminium plate between the x and y carriage was machined as a single piece. On later models the plate was made in two pieces with a central spigot and all I had to do was set the x and y carriage at 90 degrees and taper pin the plates at the four corners. I'm guessing the maintenance for you is straight forward with the replacement of bearings being the main one but how do you keep the controllers going? It would be interesting to see your footage from Airedale Works, the video I uploaded is the only footage I have seen unless any of my old colleagues have some but I lost touch with most of those years ago. The factory itself became an indoor skateboarding park and climbing wall.

@@jifuk here's a link to my footage... ruclips.net/video/6X0k1Fi_N9g/видео.html Only a couple of minutes... In my head it's 1998, but might be as late as 2000. Will check my passport when I get home to confirm precisely. Touch-wood, the controllers have been very reliable. The MillGrav controller had a dud drive-card when I bought it 3 years ago. Fortunately there is a guy in Sydney who is very cluey on these and is able to over-haul them. Haven't had any trouble since. I have a fleet of 4 actually; a 450 & a 600. The 600 is an AMC1! The MillGrav is awesome! The PantoCut I've had for 10 years or more. It's a workhorse, but the lack of rigidity due to the design is its only limitation. And funny that you mention squareness. Pretty sure mine is out a bit. Left to right its a bit 'wavy', and if you draw a large square it's a little skewed like a parallelogram... Do I chase you for a warranty fix? ;)
