We are All different. There are drugs I did not tolerate and drugs that worked well. Abilify is given by injection or various dose tablets for different disorders. I take 2mg Abilify and I'm good. I should not have to say this BUT not everything on the internet is true. I know that's hard for some people to believe.

I was prescribed Abilify by my psychiatrist to take in conjunction with my Zoloft, for OCD. I am so glad I read online reviews before taking it. I cannot believe something like this is prescribed so Willy nilly given the horrible side effects. It’s actually so disturbing to me. And makes me question the judgement and credibility of my psych and many others .

Man I took abilify for almost a year and I had a bad experience with it. I would spend less time doing the I loved. I got tired easily. Whenever I played Wii sports boxing I kept losing matches to opponents that I usually won against. I rarely laughed and thing that really made me laugh was this one part from two broke girls. My brain was in a fog so I didn't do so well on quizzes (I did better on the quizzes once I was off the abilify I did so much better on the quizzes). But the worst part was when my arm started shaking uncontrollably. I thought I might have developed Parkinson's but once I was off the medication the shaking stopped.

Reading the comments...I am on abilify 2 weeks now. 2 x 10mg in the morning. No acathesia, no problem thinking. I am calmer (that's what others say to me) and I don't have a lot of anger. I don't particularly feel hyper but I can't say i feel down.

How many mg were you on with abilify

I pace all the time on the injection. I’m convinced that I was misdiagnosed with schizophrenia and borderline personality disorder and am forced to take Abilify. I’ve gotten off mental health meds many times before but this one is a serious problem. My psychiatrist won’t listen to me and is keeping me on it. My tendons in my wrists and feet and my calf muscles also tense up by themselves often but I’m not sure what that is other than it’s drug related. I don’t feel anything, not even numb and have put this down to dissociating all the time. I’m gonna try again to get off it though. I was threatened with being kicked out of my home where I live with my grandmother due to her fear of me becoming psychotic and violent. My psychiatrist put this fear in her. If I “relapse” I will be faced with court ordered injections or end up on the streets. I don’t know how to get out of this one

Bro I can’t fuckin tell you I much I sympathize. I was one of the lucky ones….i had seizures from it. Felt like someone took a taser to the bottom part of my brain. Never been so scared in my life.

In order to fight against abilify and forced mental health treatment. You will need to top up Forest fires and make them even bigger anyway possible in order to burn up taxpayers money needed for forced mental health treatment and abilify. If they use force drug you then they are at war with you. You can fight back by forest fires.

Severe akathsia is very rarely permanent. It gets better. Some aspects of it may become permanent. But if you're in extremely severe akathisia, then don't think that's what you'll be stuck with. Definitely work your way off of any med that's causing it as quickly as you can without throwing yourself into severe withdrawal though. I've had severe akathisia 3 times in 15 years. The first time was for over a year and I became very suicidial. Yes it most definitely can be THAT bad, but the permanent aspect for me is that now I'm prone to it from various substances. Even stuff I wouldn't expect to cause it. But it always goes away once I get away from that substance. Some much more mild aspects of it can be permanent, and even that is rare. that's it. Otherwise, it DOES get better, you just have to stay alive until it does.

Ability caused though of nystagmus but better doctor said it caused me dystonia. My eyeballs rolling around in my head. Hurts help my insane psychiatrist just tells me I need to stay on it forever and she signed a form where if I stop taking it I'll go to the mental hospital for months. Retarded in sk Saskatchewan. Abilify made me more anxious. I don't remember why but I remember around the time I was taking Abilify I had to take a survey about how anxious I was and I answered a 10/10 for every question. I guess I did a pretty good job at masking it because my mom was pretty surprised when we took the survey together

I started abilify yesterday and it made me so numb and sad, I cried several times, walked around my house the whole day and vomited three times it was horrible. Not going to take it ever again.

I pray you are still sober. I am starting this today. I started drinking a couple years ago because of sadness and boredom. So far I tried the pill form of vivitrol the naltrexone and it only lets me drink more while stay in control. I'm sure I spell like a brewery all the time and I'm scared I'll get in trouble seeming sober to myself. I had gastric bypass so on blood work after 2 shots has been 3 times the legal limit... So imagine what I really am and I'll seen like the sober one in a group of drinking people.

I wanted to address the permanence issue; 1) unfortunately, there is not enough research on akathisia. 2) Specialists like Dr. David Healy say that it can “residually” remain there, which is very different from staying at an acute stage. 3) According to a deprescriber, Dr. Shipko, he has never seen cases beyond 7 years off causative meds. I now know these cases exist, yet they are very rare. Keep the hope, keep moving forward.

Sorry brother. You were just starting to make these videos a year before my akathisia exploded coming off of Klonopin. I’m hanging by a tortured thread nearly 4 years later. I can promise you I will not be better for another 4 at best.

Akathisia is not anxiety it is a neurological cns disorder which is the main thing I think needs awareness

Abilify works fine for me, well tolerated, now young man looking up the side effects and thinking that you have them is a bad idea.

Wow this videos is 4years old and in 5 minutes of watching it I got the answer, my son is Autistic we increase the dosage of ability since then is been crazy, his not sleeping his doing what you describe about pacing, marching in place etc. never heard about akathisia, can’t believe the psychiatrist didn’t mention nothing about this, thank you so much for this information I appreciate it, Gob bless you

Ablilfy lowers the libido. This is because of the dopamine and serotonine is in a minor amount in the neuron. People has to choose wether they want use this medication for severe psychosis but you dont have any feelings left for a sexual life anymore
