Hamm-tone L-OO ( Gibson style) acoustic guitar for sale
This one I actually forgot about… It was locked away in a case in the storage room for a few months… It’s quite lovely and is currently for sale. Why by a #gibson when a #hammtone will be better than good enough? #luthier #boutiqueguitars #parlourguitar

Why buy a Gibson F5 when you could have “The Goertzen”?!!

DIY How to make epoxy acoustic Guitar, pickguard, tortoiseshell style
Просмотров 197День назад
In this video, I show you how to make an acoustic guitar pick guard using epoxy and aniline dyes. It’s relatively simple, relatively messy, and pretty cool. If you want to make something like what Tony Rice has on his guitar, this is a good method for it. There are also other methods using other types of materials… Lots of good information out there. If there’s anything else you want me to show...
Buffing out a finish on a buffing arbour or wheel ASMR mandolin guitar

This one has no talking, the the whir of the buffing wheel. Adding compound once in a while. I like the sound changes when I go from the belly of the top to the f-holes. Neat sounds. #asmr #buffingmachine #buffing #f5mandolin #mandolin

How to Hand Rub a Sunburst Finish on a Mandolin or Guitar
Просмотров 1,7 тыс.21 день назад
There are many ways of doing this, but this is a pretty good method, and I thought I would slowly walk you through the entire process. I didn’t think of videotaping it until I put the first coat of stain on the back, but I caught pretty much the rest of it. I show you how things can go a little bit sideways, and how things can get corrected. All is not lost, but when staining wood, you must b...

Over the next few years, I will be adding many Mandolin building videos. I’ll admit, my videos, really kind of suck, but high quality videography is not my main motive here, I just want to share certain tasks that some people might be interested in. This particular mandolin is super cool because it is an F5, But I’m building a little bit differently than the other ones that I’ve made. It is a v...
Making an Octave Mandolin (part 1 of 2)

This is just a quick overview of my building an octave mandolin, not so much a tutorial. I do offer guitar building classes, Archtop classes being one of them. Check my website for more information and feel free to comment or ask questions! The next part (2) will be me showing you the finished product and giving a demonstration. Hopefully that will be in the next week or so! Thank you so mu...

How much?
This one is $2495 USD or $3400 Canadian
Is that for sale?
@@terilamarco515 yes, this one is!
WOW!
Great looking instrument, awesome sound and, knowing Jeremy, well worth the price.
To repeat the last comment DUST CONTROL!!! You do NOT want to struggle with COPD later in life;)
You couldn’t be more right! The last few that I have made, I had my respirator on… Years later… I’m thankful my lungs still work. Good advice. Dust control folks!
@@Hamm-toneGuitars After over four decades of remodel carpentry I've done a LOT of sketchy breathing. Been lucky so far and am very careful now...fingers crossed and thanks for the tutorial. My radius dishes are getting pretty wonky and I might try your method rather than buying again!
The modern darker sound is cool but this woody bright sound is where its at!!
It appears to be well made and sounds great and you are a talented player, thanks!

How on earth are you holding the plane in place?
I use drywall screws to hold it onto a shooter board.
@@Hamm-toneGuitars It seems much easier to control the board than the plane. I like your approach.
Ohhh yeah!
Thanks for sharing. A fabulous build.
Sweet. Excellent sound and build.
Beautiful tones & looks, excellent
The Goertzen is superior in tone.. can't see the instrument in its totality. The strings on the second mandolin look way beyond their prime. I prefer fully fretted mandolins, no abbreviations or "scoops" Just my thing.
I've made several epoxy pickguards the work well
Gee, like watching Red Green for guitar builders
You got it buddy
Wow!
Because bass will not cut of at bridge
Dude for 3 bass U just can create ball ends and other 3 tie knot
The main reason for tying all 6 strings together in this age old traditional method is to reduce the chance (yeah, it’s somewhat unlikely) of a string unravelling and slapping back on the soundboard, making an ugly mark. I’ve seen it more times than I wish. There are many ways. If you like your way, you should stay with it. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix. Right? Thanks for sharing your perspective!
Top down view is obscured by your head, not to mention the brim of your hat.
Oh, you are so correct. The video is a sympathetic byproduct of what I do, in that I don’t really film these videos in a professional manner for profit. I’m just hoping that I can shed a little bit of light on certain things… But yeah, I totally feel silly for having such a big head with that massive corduroy hat in front of these different sections… Just learning different ways of filming. I’ll have to try making some sort of angled mounting structure for next time. Thank you for your input.
Oh my fav-o-rite part, bending all those tight curves and then the literal hours of scraping it down (NOT! I'm being sarcastic of course, and my hat's off to you sir, for your patience and care. You are a True Craftsman).
Hey, thanks for the kind words Clarence! It’s an enjoyable (time consuming and sensitive) task. Lol
That is a stunning looking and sounding instrument. What tuning are you using. So cool!
Darrell! It’s GG DD AA EE, one octave lower than a mandolin. It fits somewhere between a Mandola and a mando cello in tuning. Thanks!
Salad hands
Bwah hah hah hah….. I forget which one it is, but Kevin, I give you all the credit. Jess says it now too. And we laugh. And we laugh…….
Sounds great.
Very nice guitar
Beautiful job!
Just lovely build and great tone!
A stunning instrument! Thank you for sharing video and the work you do!
Nothing you do to improve a guitar is ever wrong. Get real people
It doesn't sound good, it sounds thin, and you are not skilled enough to demonstrate a parlor guitar
Interesting. Thanks for your thoughts!
sounds and look great. you mentioned you got a piezo on (in?) the bridge. what model/brand is it?
It’s a circular Piezo, the one that’s about the size of a dime. Like this: www.ebay.ca/itm/353800000665?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=zbborm9tr3u&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=5H-Rb7UYRCi&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
@@Hamm-toneGuitars Fantastic. I have experimentet with those disk Piezos, but never gotten that good sound from them. Good Job! Were is it placed, if you don't mind me asking?
K&K pickups do a good job using them in an effective way. I basically try to mimic their method. I even mix a little bit of epoxy and seal off the solder joins on the back, it has just enough mass to reduce feedback and microphonic reaction, and it also helps make sure that the solder joins do not come loose. On this particular one I have it mounted directly beneath the bridge, using epoxy. Just one. On acoustic Guitars I will use three. I glued it on before I fastened the back.

@@Hamm-toneGuitars Thanks a lot, much appretiated!
Very nice. I'm on my 5th OM prototype but I sticking with flat soundboard and back, though I do induce a slight arch on both, and I'm sticking with the bound oval sound holes like the early Gibson As. I like how you carved using a profiler
That sounds great! I’d love to hear what they sound like!
I'm impressed, i'm in love with this instrument!
You trying to impress how good af a player? You are ? Is that it ??
@avalanche9026 Have you tried clicking the thumbnail for info on the channel before getting mouthy?
Thanks for watching the video… I am a person who makes musical instruments and enjoys playing them. I post them on the Internet because it seems that people are interested in them. I know there are a lot of mandolin players, a lot of musicians, that are much better than I, but find it’s fun.

Awesome! I want new friends! I like my old friends too! I DM'd you a message already a few months back
Looks and sounds great
What are your acoustic setup specs? I set my affordable Washburn up to 19-10 thou nut heights and 4-3 32nds with a capo on the first, 3-5 thou relief. I plays pretty fast.
With action relative to the first fret, between 7/64 and 6/64 on the bass side, and 4/64 and 5/64 on the treble side on an acoustic guitar. I usually aim for a minimal amount of neck, relief, somewhere between .006” and “.012”. Nut slot height, in relation to the first fret, after the neck, relief and saddle is adjusted properly, usually somewhere between .006” and .012”, depending on the guitar, playing style is also a factor.
Great work! What scale does this mandolin have?
This particular one is a 22”. The one in this next video is a 20”: Octave Mandolin, Part 2 of 2 ruclips.net/video/nLEUxLWblR4/видео.html
