🧑🏫 Teaching the kiddo part 2- shifting 1970 Olds
At about the 11 minute mark into you video, I dont understand when you said the car ran like crap with the original holley sniper on it, you had the o2 sensor already fixed, then you put on the replacement holley sniper and it still ran like crap and you said that you noticed that only 2 barrels was receiving fuel from the new replacement. You then put your original sniper back on and it ran perfect. You are basically saying that you did nothing to the original sniper that was not running well, when you put it back on it ran perfect... What am I missing??? Did you send your original unit to holley to fix the fuel distribution problem??? Did the original sniper all of a sudden just start working when you reinstalled it??? I am very confused what you did to solve the fuel issue... Please can you explain better that part of your problem...
Sorry for the confusion. we didn't move the O2 sensor till we tried the replacement Sniper unit, when It ran bad we then discovered that only 2 injectors were firing. In a last gasp / desperation attempt., we reinstalled the original Sniper unit and found success. We never anticipated the injector issue on the replacement Sniper. That threw us into a tailspin.
I don’t want to see KC getting any tickets on this bike
What is the charging modification please. Is it available from common motors? I just purchased a nice nonrunner. Maybe some protection for those fuel filters? You have a very nicely sorted machine. Thanks for the vid.
Common Motors has lots of upgrade DYI videos (including the charging tricks) and are a pleasure to work with.. You can't go wrong with Common Motors.
thanks... my O2 was on passenger side at 2 inches from flange.... driverside is at 5 inches..
Re-chrome all parts if you want it original only takes three weeks. Yes it’s not cheap. I know firsthand also re-zinc all of nuts and bolts. powder, coat foot pegs gloss, black it last longer big-time polish top, triple clamp, intake, manifold, and front and back hubs. Most people powder coat the frames, but that’s not even close to original.
hey man, I am right up the road from you in HEB, cool video
I had EVERY one of these problems with my Holley Sniper Unit. I had to send it in for injector repair. They fixed it under warranty but I lost 8 weeks of my driving season. However, since then I have replaced the O2 sensor every year. Not very happy with this unit.
Ours still isn't perfect. Gonna take it to a tuner soon. Just trying to get the car broken in and fix all the bugs. I suspect the new Holley Sniper 2 fixes a lot of the issues we've encountered. Nothing like paying $1200 to be a guinea pig...
Where does the crankcase vent hose route to?
Across the tops of the right side (brake side) of the engine to the left side (shifter side) of the motor and turns down to a 45 following the frame.
The bike came out fabulous you guys did a hell of a job
Im having no start issues must be timing. Ive checked and re checked everything is corrrect. Tdc compression stroke 15degrees. Of timing pointing to number one cylinder distributor phasing matches 15 degrees. O clearance rockers timing chain dot to dot. Fuel pressure 59 60 lbs. direct ground direct switched power. Good body ground. I have a new sniper EFI cd box coil and distributor.. They won’t start it tries to. It’s not backfiring out. The carburetor is trying to, but not all cylinders are firing and I also noticed that only a couple cylinders on each side are warm three cylinders on the left side only two cylinders on the right side. This is a brand new 383.
Tach signal is my guess. No signal = no run. It takes four wires to run, pos, neg, tach, key basically.
I’m having so many issues with Holley I have no more hair hair to pull out. I’m at my wits end I don’t know what to do. I’m basically doing the same thing looking at every forum which isn’t the best thing but I’m desperate. Holly is very slow on the responding back to any questions.
Tony the Tiger wants his stripes back 😅
nice dog
Thanks
Thanks for the video, solved my problem after months of the same issue 👍
Glad we could help, kicked our ass for months too 😃
Good stuff.
My TPS stays at 2% so i am going to order another one. Hope it works 😢
Give it a try, but that rings a bell, let me think a day on that, Ken
@@crnutsmotorsports yeeep fixed it with that lol
Oh, so sorry. 😢
Not knowledgeable here. Just curious. How much paint does it take to fully paint a small sedan? A gallon? 3 gallons?
Typical car 1 gallon. There are a lot of variables depending on if the is a color change, how far you intend to take down the original pai, if your gonna shoot a single stage urethane or a base + clear system. In this case / Honda Trail 70: a pint of each, Base, Mid-coat + Clear, not to mention primers and prep. The prep makes the difference between a good & bad paint job.
@@crnutsmotorsports thank you for your reply:) it was very informative:) i appreciate the insight:)
Thanks for the info! I’ll probably go back to spider injection, this plug and play is killing me. I have the atomic efi, and I have been digging for info since I installed it. No info for a work van, and the msd techs get snappier every time I try to explain to them. About 2 grand shot up a wild hogs ass!
I awanna learn ts so bad
That's a lot of intricate work. Looks great
The before and after looks like brand new! Good job working on this for the neighbor!
Shop inspector is the best! Highly recommend Shaws Scratch and Find Inspector Service.
That masking tape works great! Great tip
What time is she picking me up 😅
The start of a new life on this cool mini bike 🚴
That's too funny
Snappy music. Very informative video. You are doing a great job
You do great work I'm sure you'll be able to take care of this one just like all the rest
Good job there
They sure were enjoying themselves
You guys are doing great work and great things take care keep up the good work
Can you explain how it was running for him cause I have a 1998 rm 250 that keeps breaking up on the top end seems like it pressurize's its cooling sytem and breakup up in the top end I can't figure it out unless it's this bullshit right here
Thanks for the question. The bike was running fine however it was starting to leak coolant out of the cylinder head and upon review the power valve vent was also producing too much oil blow by due to the elbow being worn out after xx amount of hours of ridding. Neither one is directly related to the other as the cooling system is isolated from the piston making power. I think you have a carb issue (likely) or a dirty power valve (possibly). Per the 1999 Suzuki manual they recommend cleaning the power valve system every 4 ½ hrs to 6 hours. I would look at a few basics. #1 is the carb tuned correctly? #2 Is the power valve adjustment correct to the factory settings (clockwise 1) give or take. The power valve has a lot to do with what it does with the “load” is sees. #3 Review how to read the plug which loops back into #1 of carb adjustments. With that said a few weeks ago (Jan 2024) after about 40 to 50 hours on the motor (about 30hrs shown in the video at that time) I just installed a new top end and cleaned all the top cylinder parts like the power valve and was surprised on how much oil it was swimming in and caught the piston right before bad things were going to happen to the bottom end, **6hrs 50 hrs**... same thing right...hahaha. That and a quick carb rebuild. Carb settings are needle 2 down, air screw 1.5 out, main jet 152, pilot/slow jet 42 with the float high of 16mm or 0.63" on FMF pipes and FMF silencer Powercore 2. Fired right up second kick but I still need to put some heat cycles into it out on the trails before its track day. Per the manual troubleshooting steps for “engine runs poorly in high speed range” list the following- narrow spark plug gap, incorrect carburetor fuel level, incorrect main jet settings, retarded ignition timing, CDI unit malfunction, ignition coil damage, air cleaner element clogged, magneto short circuit, exhaust pipe cracked, exhaust valve malfunction or piston ring stuck. Hope that helps and good luck with your ride.
Subbed
What kind of afr do you get cruising and underload
13.5, always jumping around a bit. Can't say much for full load. Still breaking it in. Only 250 miles, 1/2 throttle gets you into a lot of trouble 😲
Nice sweater!!
I love your roadkill sweater
Great information
I’m so glad I found this video. I installed a Sniper system on my 69 Camaro 396 and it ran like crap. After watching your video I did the same thing and installed the O2 sensor 10” from the header flange. I moved the sensor to 6” from where the header pipes come together and she started up and ran good. Thank you Thank you Thank you.
I installed a spider today, it’s not injecting any gas, my pump produces 43psi I’m installing a pump tomorrow with 94psi would that affect the spider carburator? Should I install a fuel pressure regulator?
Sniper require aprox 60 lbs of pressure. Over pressure should be discharge back to the tank. The sniper has an internal regulator in the unit. I assume your talking about external pumps, not in tank. No matter, put a fuel pressure gauge on the entry line to the sniper. They are not expensive ($30) and provide peace of mind. And it may sound dumb, but make sure you got it plumbed correctly. In, to the in, I have made that mistake, as stupid as it sounds.
I already installed a 95psi fuel pump and still no injection, truck starts with starting fluid but won’t stay on 😕
Do you have a tach signal? Sniper wont run unless its getting a tach reading.@@lifeshare9074
@@crnutsmotorsports no I do not, i will get one tomorrow, where do I plug it in? I’m sorry I’m asking all this questions I’m new to this
I contacted the Holley customer services and no tach is needed for signal, what I do have wrong is the distributor, the one that is in now is not compatible with the spider carburetor, I just ordered a new distributor I will keep updated
how much oil in the gas? for mixture
We generally run 40:1
Beautiful! I had a 1971 and loved it. Wish I could afford this one!!
Nice job on the bike
Beautiful job on the back
Need your grass secrets. Bike looks sick brahhh
It’s ALIVE! Good work CR Nutz
Thank you for making this video. My TPS was reading zero and I could not get it to react, so after I watched you replace your sensor, I noticed that it was like spring loaded. You rotated yours forward and tightened it down. So I pulled mine loose, rotated it forward and tightened it back down. Not much movement, but just enough. I now have 86 at WOT, and it is reacting normally. I will adjust my throttle blades to get to 100%. Thanks again, you saved the day!
Not to bother you lol... i appreciate all these videos. Holley should be paying dor a new unit for you... anyhow my idle i think is set a little lower at 750. I plan on bumping that to 850 doing the 13.5 at idle. 14 at cruise and 12.5 at wot. Then set aic for around 5.. i bought my car done but they said it needed tuned. It doesnt stall at stop lights anymore since i ajusted iac valve! But when im cruising n let of the gas to coast going like 50 rpm drops down like 500 to 600 wants to die? Then my afr gauge goes red like north of 15 to 19 then if i blimp throttle it goes normal again
I ran across this gent. Way more advanced than I'm comfortable with buy it shows that there is a flaw and a fix. If anything, it's educational. If I go to a dyno, they'll do all this stuff. Right now my Visa is overheated 😅 ruclips.net/video/GfF0U0NN1ag/видео.html
Appreciate the time you took to make a video to help others out!!
Jeez I hope the cylinder heads are good. When I worked in a shop we had quite a few 5 valve Yamahas 250 and 426 with bad heads
Both bikes have compression, that's a positive sign. We'll pull the heads on both for a closer inspection. We don't do a quick flip, we go threw everything. We treat them like they are our own.
