I had the most success with long term odor control when I placed the skeins in baking soda and left for over a week. I did wind the yarn before I used it for the shawl I crocheted. The baking soda was difficult to shake out and I had residue that flaked off while winding the yarn. Was a bit of a mess 😊

Hi carolwallace2 This isn’t my pattern, and it was written as a symbol only pattern. I cannot take someone else work and make a tutorial without their consent. Places like Yarnspirations have many written/chart patterns on their site… often there is a YT tutorial that goes along with it. That is how I learned how to understand chart patterns… hope this helps

This yarn is a hand wash…but how’d the skein/hank hold up? I was afraid of knots, (which it barfed on me while using it for the SisLove Shawl)

No I didn’t have an issue with smell contamination. But the best way was to place baking soda in a Tupperware type container and leave it for two weeks. I shook the container every so often, and I changed the soda after a week. I’ve used the yarn for the SisLove shawl and no funky odor… not as fresh as just bought but manageable, and after the shawl was finished a wool soak and hood as new.. FYI once the yarn returned to room temp the smell returned after freezing…

It’s my style. I like to chitter chat and that’s how I’ll always be. Appreciate the love but I will stay being me.

Hi Susanne. I don’t have any for storage, my clovers are still put into the original packaging with the styrofoam “holder” at the bottom of the packaging. I would consider anything that keeps the hooks from slamming together so they don’t get burrs or rub off finishes.. I know many YTers have patterns/tutorials for making your own hook holders. I have seen some nice cases on Amazon that were hard, zipped shut and had pockets/elastic that hold the hooks in place for approx $12-$20ish.

@@TwistedStitchesShow I didn’t think about potential damage from them shifting against each other. I need to make storage for my double point and straight needles. Guess I should make it for my hooks at the same time. Thanks for your answer. Also, it seems to me what they charge for Clovers there should be a case. If you look at equivalently priced and rated interchangeable needle sets, they all come with a real case.

They’re the best for the budget and the way I crochet. I wish they would make their large hooks using the metal as well. Sometimes the plastic hangs up on stitches…

Hi O R just an update: the freezer trick worked but once the yarn warmed up to room temp the smell returned. I had a great outcome by putting yarn in a container with baking soda, I changed it after a week and put fresh soda and let sit for another week. I used this yarn this past year and the smell was almost completely gone, and it allowed me to work the yarn (I made the Half Circle Shawl by SisHomemade) without a horrible smell.

Hi Jennifer Metz. Yeah if I remember correctly it was on the thinner side, but you could always hold two strands together and make a really cool marled effect.. I may try that myself. 😉

I know many do, that would be up to the designers to make that call.😉

Hi Brieann. Thank you svm! I made the dress using a T-shirt of hers for comparison, the dress now fits her perfectly. (After a year). I suggest using actual measurements to get a better fit.

Hi Aleksandra, I love the feel of the yarn, and I do plan on making another top with it in the future, but like you something with a tighter stitch. I didn’t notice any charts for this pattern, I believe the link to the pattern is in my description box.. it’s a very beginner friendly pattern and I love the way it looks, I will make another Sweet Pea top using maybe cotton or Coboo yarn next time.

Sorry to hear of your loss… getting the smells out of yarn is definitely a toughie but I did have “better success” using baking soda in bags/totes for sure. Hope it works well enough to be able to tolerate working with the yarn then after the project is done a good wash . My shawl I made using the “stinky yarn” smells absolutely fine.. thanks for watching! 💚

Oh I do love the way those Furls look and I have heard really good things about (especially the Odyssey).. I may… buy one in the tiny hook size to see if it helps when working with fingering weight yarn… Have you worked with the Furls a lot? Does it help with hand/wrist fatigue? @@TwistedStitchesShow I think that the furls helps with my speed and fatigue after I got use to using it. It took a couple days. I really like them. The streamline wooden hooks are lighter and have the Susan bates head but I like the odyssey hook head best. It’s a combo between the two styles. It’s heavier tho

Hi Amanda, thank you… yes it’s been such an emotional roller coaster, you go through your day wishing the phone would ring or one of the posts is really her… it’s less devastating as time goes by, but reminders pop up and the not knowing is so hard, I just can only hope and pray she’s being cared for and loved. When bad thoughts go through my head I just get so mad and sad, and unfortunately feeling angry at my son for his lack of caution because he was in a rush to grab something out of his car just makes me resentful and I hate feeling this way. Yeah I’m not a huge orange (like the fruit color) myself, but it does match, odd as it seems… it would make fun toes, heels and cuffs on socks I think.
