Barn Owls of Boxmoor

After a long and very patient 5 months of watching this particular area closely. Early Mornings and Late nights my patience finally paid off and i was able to witness two Barn Owls leaving the nest Box. Whilst uncertain if they are both Juvenile's the second one had some very distinctive fluffy feathers. The experience was incredible to both watch and film.

Great work dude Love the CREATIVE angel you use photographing the Owl
Fantastic stuff Liam, many wouldn’t appreciate the effort & time that goes into getting the shot you want. Let alone have the vision & know how of how to achieve it. We done mate, it’s a fantastic image & I’m 100% with you that the final full frame image is a clear winner 🏆 Keep in keeping on mate! Best, Nick
Great Video , Beautiful Image , Im just starting into Camera trapping , Do you have Link to or instructions on building your own Sensor, I would be very interested in that , Im sure other Viewers would also . Keep the Videos coming , great content.
@@rodsimages9319 Thank you Rod really appreciate it. I don’t have a link or instructions on building my own sensor. It’s too complicated for others to understand as it requires boards and soldering etc. Your best bet is to look at the Camtraptions sensor
briliant video really enjoyed it .
Great vid mate and some of the best little owl shots around 🎉
Andy thank you so much for the kind words. Really appreciate it bud
Awesome video pal 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you so much Mike

How did the installation go?
Data plan required? Cost?
Yes this particular model is the data sim version. Cost for the camera or the sim?
@@liammedwards Neither. What is the monthly plan cost enabling access to the cell phone network.
@@jacksprat7087 that all depends on what Data provider you go with and how many GB of data you go for. I can’t answer that as every network provider is different and costs are different
@@liammedwards Can someone provide some examples?
@@jacksprat7087 where are you based? In the Uk we have a number of network providers. Any of those network providers do Data only sim cards. All you need to do is go online and search data only SIM cards. There will be a range from 2gb up to 100gb all the information and pricing you need will be there.
Do you have to use the SIM card? We can’t get ours to link up without it.
If it is the Reolink GO PT Ultra that you have then you have purchased the Data SIM card version. Any camera from Reolink that has GO in the name requires a SIM card in order for this to work. It has to have the Sim Card present at all times in order to work.
Excellent review. Thanks
Brilliant review the plus is some camera and I read some were it can be controlled by Alexa and also has presets as well. Camera needs a nano data sim card to work so you need to find the best deals from your network provider but this is a top camera from Reolink
Great, helpful unboxing vid, especially showing the included power adapter.
*Promo SM* 😅
They don't have wildlife in the UK they have pest.😅
Thanks for your absolutely pointless comment
From where got it?
Love this 3 parter, thanks Liam! Looking forward to maybe getting one for a nearby hollow
Hi, great video! What is the minimum focus distance? Do you think it can be used for micro mammals?
Awesome info! Question: my nighttime photos came out OOF. My guess is that the camera couldn't focus well during the brief time when the flash went off. The camera was in battery saving mode when the motion sensor was triggered by wild animals. The camera woke up and then tried to focus, giving me OOF pictures. I wonder what the trick is to get in-focus photos. I guess adding a light source helps the camera focus; however, this is not doable when I set up camtrap in the field. Thank you if you can help!!!
It sounds to me like you are using Auto Focus. If this is the case then your images will be out of focus. If you set your lens to Manual Focus. An Aputure of F8 which is usually infinity focus on most lenses. Set your camera trap up where you want your subject to be. Get a stick set it in the frame where you want your animal and manually focus on this. Remove once happen with the focus point and leave as is in Manual. Never use a camera trap in Auto and Auto focus always adjust everything in manual. It is all trial and error. I have found the following works well for night time images. 1/250 shutter F8 Aputure 500/640 ISO 2x flashes, one set to around 1/64 and another around 1/32 with a distance from the subject around 3/4 metres
@@liammedwards thank you so much! what does "1/64" mean? I don't know flash well.
What sim do I need for my keel camera please
Can you please tell me what sim to get. Only the man in 02 shop did not no . What one . These it have to be a dater base one.
180 degrees?
Ive been testing the Go PT Plus, the battery life on solar in the UK lasts about 14 days max with no features turned on that would drain the battery faster, i have to visit the site with a phone/battery bank, takes about 4 hours to charge from 20%, if the detections good and the little owls are triggering i might consider getting this one, thanks for taking the time to review test and making the videos.
Hi Vin the Kern Ranger is very much the same camera as the Go PT Plus. You will have the same issues with the battery power on this too. At a push I can get around 2 and half weeks. That’s turning it off when we get a good blast of sun light to give it a little top up. I have found the cold weather massively effects the battery life too so that too doesn’t help
@@liammedwards thanks for the info, I did try plugging the solar panel into a power bank but it didn't like it, and using the power bank on its own, it turns it's self off, so we're nearly there with this tech, if they could sort out the power issues.
Can you make it record remotely?
Hi Steven yes you can log in to the camera Via the Reolink app on your phone and press record remotely.
The best camera to cover a wide area. I hope they patented the design because it’s about to become a very popular. It’s hard to see where the cameras blend. The picture is amazingly wide without the fisheye look. My only concern is the camera runs hot even in an air conditioned space.
Hi. Are you able to advise how to orient the SIM card? And also how to remove it? Thanks
Hi, apart from the camouflage are there any significant differences between the Keen Ranger and the Reolink go Plus ?
I’d say no, it’s an additional 75.00 for the 3.00 camo
Great 3 part review Liam. Looks like a nice bit of kit. I think one of these watching over my DSLR camera trap when I have it out, would be a great way of keeping an eye on my equipment and any activity that's going on. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Thanks so much John That is what I have been using my other reolink cameras for also yo monitor the camera. That way you also know if you got the shot

keep the videos coming Liam youre doing a great job. Cant wait to see what you capture :-)
Thank you Gemma
What sensitivity settings do uou have for detection ?
NS Brother
Who from reolink reached out to you?? I started pushing Reolink to make the ReoLink Go PT to be a hunting trail camera about 3 years ago and sharing a lot of input on the market for this, but my contacts only took my ideas, made the camera, and by passed me wanting to be the USA go to rep. for this product. Just wondering if I have been talking to the wrong people and they just took my ideas and share with the right people??
How much does it cost and where to purchase it?
No Cost price announced just yet. The camera is due for release on the 28th June
Love your video! How much is keencamera and how to purchase it?
Is that their pan and tilt camera painted camo? Or are they different?
It’s very similar to the Go PT yes. The main difference other than the Camo is the no glow IR lights.
How much did it cost?
The price hasn’t been announced yet. So I am not to sure on pricing
looking forward to watching the third part
Thank you. It will be a few weeks yet. :)
very nice video, I am starting withcamera trapping too and i know how hard is to take these pictures! New sub!!
Stunning beautiful film Liam
Thanks Dan
How long are you getting with your trigger batteries?
Hi Brent the Single battery in my IR Trigger can last upto 2 years. It’s been in regular use for a year now and still going strong
Nice video. I like that you have included the sensor into the camera housing. The garden setup is amazing, that shot and the one of the fox with the cub that follows and the very wet badger are amazing shots - congrats, wonderful work!
Hi Liam, great first video really enjoyed it. A couple of questions: Firstly I bought the box you suggested from CPC and the camera with lens doesn’t fit, does your lens protrude out of the box into the drainage tube? How did you fit the filter into the tube? Finally how did you fit the hood to the tube and where did you get this from? Appreciate any feedback Thanks
Great thanks!!
Great video. Thank you. How long your Canon430 flash last its power? Which flash modes you select.?
Sadly they don’t last long enough. I can get about 3 days out of them if I use my battery pack system. If set to go to sleep they last even longer
Great video, thanks for sharing 👍🏻
