Erm actually if you place the thermite right side up it makes a bigger hole.

For the 9th fuze trick u cn do the same thing, and get the kaid claws/bandits nearly 100% of the time by placing the charges on the left side of the k9 window. U don't even have to step inside the building. But sometimes ppl know this and shoot down/open the window, in which case u can js do it the way u showed.
