Tef's travails
Добавлен 3 июл 2007
Join me (Tef) as I go about my daily travails around the house, car, workshop and land; solving problems, fixing things, making bespoke items and helping you reduce your dependence on those who might not have your best interests at heart.
Sometimes, we might even have time to take a look at some vintage machinery and enjoy life 'As 'twer in Granfer's day'!

Vintage tractor tribute to Alan Cannings at Laughton Cuckoo Fayre 2024
Alan Cannings, from Barcombe who was well known on the East Sussex heritage engineering show circuit as a commentator died in April 2024.
He was active in the vintage tractor community for some 30 years and owned an Allis Chambers machine himself and provided the commentary to the tractor and other sections at many local shows including the Broyle, Tinkers Park and Laughton.
As a tribute to him, a grand parade of over 30 machines assembled at Laughton on Saturday 25th of May 2024 during the Cuckoo Fayre at Laughton showground where this round of applause was held.

NO FKN WAY THAT STAYED BURNING. You have to cut slashes into the wood. This is a lie.
Truly awful.😩
Happy to help! Now you know what not to do!
@@TefsTravails 😂😂
Rotate you pots during warming. Made sense to me when I heard it. Even heating.
Yes, should have tried that. Thanks for the tip.
dude thank you!!!!!!! i’m gonna try this. i’m dumb and ordered an entire new turn signal indicator on ebay but still this video is awesome
Good luck with it
Dubai? I don't think so.
I know, it's just not right!!!
No wonder why we are all ill.
Wow!! This is an excellent idea and it works!! Thanks ❤
Thanks for the comment, still using it 3 years on!
sir is this your first time?
It was, yes.
@@TefsTravails😂😂😂
Tanks, mine was running ok for three or four minutes then flashing up the low flow and stopping, I just swapped the inlet valve assy and filter after watching your video and its working great again.
Brilliant to hear it was helpful, thanks for the comment!

I don't think standard guest get a direct line to the captain
Shit work
Thanks, glad you liked it so much.
Epoxy such as Repairrcare, expensive but long lasting if done properly, these 2 part fillers are very temporary outside
thanks. windows is open????
Yes, the window did open.
Why saw the bottom off?
Yep that's a fair question! The bags are longer than the bin so by removing the bottom you can lift it higher when the bag is 3/4 full and get more logs in.
And also, the bin was already broken at the bottom.
I used skim coat and paint. It was my first time and i can say i did better than this
I did this and I didnt get the result that was really perfect, sure it's livable but I think my options are replace and uPVC or put a whole new wood for the sill. I'm leaning towards uPVC because it would give my house an uninterrupted line of all uPVC windows and the wood ones out of sight. Don't know il see next year.
Thanks for your reply. For me this was a first attempt at puttying, and it was on a window that would rarely be seen as it was on a garage so worth a roll of the dice. It's still intact 3 years on!
@@TefsTravails I’ve seen one person on TikTok use a plastering trowel to move about the slightly moist wood filler and get a better shape, that seems logical to me but it’s too late now that its on and dry.
How we can dry this putty
The on off switch doesn’t work, any ideas how to replace/fix it?
Great job, thank you for making the video. I'm going to confidently repair my rotten window now. 🙏👍
Don't waste my time
Just put er on with a shovel.
When some folks on RUclips, claim they do it with a scotch auger, it's way harder than people think, it's not a ez job ,I know from experience, and I'm in my 60,s
Tip...use a clear piece of tubing. You can see what's happening better
Does anybody know about a vacuum leak close to the swirl flaps and how to manage it, my car whistles and i have been trying to fix it for a long time now
DROP BOMBS
jesus you didn't leave like it that did you just hope its your own windows if you did
Still there 3 years later! Glad you liked it!
@@TefsTravails yeah just popped up on my you tube its a good try if its your first time nee to tool it of with a proper putty knife nice and tight to the glass and paint 1/8 inch onto the glass otherwise water will get behind and push it all off
Yep, was my first attempt. Looks rough as but nobody ever sees that window. Thanks for the tips!
It is beyond a disgrace to have the United Arab Emirates jack and DUBAI stamped upon her hull. Sickening. Beautiful model, though.
Any idea where to buy a clip like this? I have this issue, and it is very annoying.
My little TX2160 tries it's best but it couldn't lift a ton either!
Yep knew I was pushing it! I filmed a video this week of my Iseki compact tractor pulling out a tree stump though. I'll post that soon. It managed it!
@@TefsTravails Looking forward to seeing that. I've got a few small tree stumps I'd like to remove too.
Thank you x
No problem, glad you liked it!

Thanks
No problem, glad you found it helpful.
Have spent most of today sorting mine out following this video and it now works! I would just add if you take the top of the metal part apart, make sure you know how to line it back up, and put the leg back on the right way around otherwise the machine is horizontal! Arrggghhh!
Glad you found it helpful, thanks for your comment!
This is just the worst😂😂😂
Hit that old dried out wood sash with some straight linseed oil first, before the putty step. Putty will stick better and it will revive and waterproof the wood sash.
Glad you showed a cool failure! Its good to see! You earned a follow for sure
Many thanks for your comment and subscription. I think it's important to show when things don't work so other people can know what not to do!
Thank you for the video
Glad you liked it!
Burn anything wood I've never used anything else.
We need to build some of these
Hey mate have you had a play with the magneto on this? I’ve got the same one and struggling to get it running ideal any ideas? Also seems to flood itself pretty easily
Trying to learn about ash glaze. Can't believe I just watched 8 minutes for a total failure. Why upload this.
hotline to the captain 😂😂😂

Love my little TX2160 too, though mine's a bit tattier than yours, and with a dodgy clutch. That micro barn is a great idea, I think I'll make something similar.
Yep, dead easy to build and really helps keep the weather off the tractor.
I used to love the frog. I've operated it in the extreme cold (Norway) and in the extreme heat of Egypt.
I bet Egypt wasn't comfortable!
@@TefsTravails It wasn't too bad. It was part of a NATO exercise. We also went to Sardinia as part of the exercise. I spent 9 years as a crewman and commander of the CET.
Very good idea another idea would be to use like leftover plywood so it would fit over the mower handlebar thing with an overhang blocking the debris. To attach the overhang I'd use two or 3 45 degree corner things to hold the 2 boards together
Great hack, thanks!
I worked on the QE2 around 2004. Thanks for this video, I used to admire that model when I'd walk past. Miss that old ship.
