    Thanks for all the great tips. I have been experimenting with the lip-sync as well, but when I was doing the MetaHuman Performance, I was not selecting the face rig, just leaving that blank. It works. but later, I had to bake the animation to the rig. Also, when I was retargeting a Mixamo animation, I think I picked the wrong body to retarget, so I'll try your steps. One question, though, when you dragged the end of the idle animation to the end, did it stretch all the keys, effectively slowing down the idle?A quick tip: The Eye Focus board is a great way to control which direction the eyes point. You can toggle the board on with a slider on the face control board and then delete any unused keys for that setting, to keep it accessible.

      Thanks for watching! I haven't messed around with the face control board much yet. Thanks for the tip! As for dragging out the idle animation. I'm not sure which section you're referring to. But if you stretch out a baked animation sequence in the animation track, it just loops since its not using keyframes as a premade sequence. If you're referring to dragging out an animation that is baked to control rig keyframes, that is correct that it would stretch out the tween interpolation and slow down the movements.

    Can you do a chatGPT - TTS- ATL in metahuman?

    • @SimonePixel
      @SimonePixel 17 дней назад

      TBH, I had to ask ChatGPT what ATL is, and it seems like the goal might be to make Metahumans "smart," enabling them to communicate live with each other or with people. That sounds like an amazing idea! While I’m not familiar with a process like that, combining ChatGPT for dialogue, TTS for speech, and Unreal Engine's animation tools could theoretically create something interactive. It would likely involve real-time AI integration and some custom development. Definitely cool to explore! Let me know if you discover a way-I’d love to help however I can. I’ll also keep you updated if I come across anything relevant.

    I figured out the issue near the end of this stream, where I was experimenting with blending the facial MoCap from Live Link with the UE 5.5 Audio2Face Lipsync performance capture. I had baked the expressions to the ControlRig and attempted to additively blend the lipsync but encountered a conflict. Deleting the jaw and mouth keys was a good start, and I also zeroed out the jaw track position. However, I overlooked zeroing out the mouth tracks. As a result, even though there were no competing mouth keys, the tracks still had residual values, causing the system to blend the lipsync with a fixed open-mouth position. See my Discord for the final result. discord.gg/47wrAUUAUC I'll do a tutorial on layering animations when I feel I have enough experience for it to be useful to people.

      Is there a way to automate the process of adding audio and making the animation through the process? Also when I just changed the facial animation and audio track in the same level sequencer my model broke for some reason , is that normal?

    • @SimonePixel
      @SimonePixel Месяц назад

      @strontium786 I’m not aware of a straightforward way to automate adding animations directly in UE, but it might be possible with a custom Blueprint or a third-party plugin. If I find anything in the future, I’ll be sure to share it. As for the model breaking-if you mean the head popping out of the body issue when combining facial animation with body animation, that’s a pretty common problem. I actually have a tutorial on fixing that! If you can, I recommend switching to UE 5.5 since they’ve implemented a fix for it. If you’re using 5.4 or earlier, check out my "Floating Head Fix" video. Here’s the link to the part where I explain the actual fix: ruclips.net/user/liveDXiaOsihkss?si=10cyN6b68-QM8Qu1&t=2886 If this doesn’t address the issue you’re running into, let me know more details, and I’ll do my best to help!

    • @SimonePixel
      @SimonePixel Месяц назад

      Ah yes. That sounds like the issue. I haven’t seen it as much in 5.5. It might be as simple as checking the box for Actor Hidden In Game and then unchecking it again on your character mesh. Doing that resets the base pose and realigns the head and body. If it persists you may have to fill any gaps between animations like in my tutorial.

    I plan to create follow-ups to this tutorial that dive deeper into the Control Rig and explore other methods for correcting animations-whether it’s before, during, or after using them in a sequence. While working on this video, I started to demonstrate how to correct animations using keyframes, but I quickly realized it was a bit beyond my current skill level. Instead, I focused on showing that Control Rig isn’t as intimidating as it seems when you know where to start. I’ll be honest: I resisted using Control Rig for as long as I could. But eventually, I realized that if I want to improve my animation skills, I actually need to learn how to animate! Kind of obvious in hindsight, right? 😅 Thanks so much for watching, everyone! More tutorials are on the way as I continue learning and sharing what I discover. Let me know in the comments what you’d like to see in future videos. See you soon! 🚀

    Hi Jason, keep up the good work, there's so much to learn and I'm along for the ride, just recently found out about that IK switch makes thing way easier, also another animation method that I'm using and seems to work quite well, is to delete the control rig that's created before adding your animation, then click body>control rig>layered>metahuman control rig after adding the animation, this keeps the animation active, you can then go to the rig and key what you want to keep and key the parts to change without having to delete any keys in the baked animation, if you make any mistakes you can delete the layered rig and the underlying animation is unaltered, its a non destructive way to animate Another method I'm looking into is to add an additive animation layer to the baked animation

    • @SimonePixel
      @SimonePixel 2 месяца назад

      Thanks @MIGHTYANDYMAN! Adding textures is pretty easy when using Character Creator since it has an Auto-Setup plugin you can add, but the ones created using hyperhuman are not something I've tried. I have tried manually changing MetaHuman textures with other custom ones by simply swapping the Base Color for body and face texture in the MetaHuman blueprint, but haven't had much success with that. Especially since the Normal map, and other texture maps, won't line up with the Base Color shading. I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you. There are supposedly some new features in 5.5 that make it easier to use conformed meshes, but I haven't looked into that yet. Please let me know if you find a solution and I'll do the same for you. Hi there! Thanks for the message. My next lesson is regarding optimal cinematic project settings and adding a character to an animated scene. I do plan to have face animation as a part of a future tutorial. I look forward to more comments and suggestions. Thank you! 😀

    Good informative video. This is good for creating animated clips. But for game development, what i found is, say I have four different characters, then I have to retarget the entire 500+ animations for every character, and its gonna be around 2k animation sequences. The game project will be too large. Is there any other technique that we can use the same animation sequences for every character?

      Thank you for the compliment! Just to clarify, I primarily use these animations for cinematic sequencer animations rather than for gameplay. So, I don’t actually import all of the animations for each character every time. Instead, I open the Game Sample project and select only the animations I need before exporting or migrating them into my project. One benefit of that approach is that I can preview the animations in the mannequin’s Skeletal Mesh or Blueprint editor to decide which ones to export. For game development, what I’ve read is that using shared skeletons in Unreal Engine 5 is one of the most efficient ways to reuse animations without creating a large number of duplicates. This helps keep your project size manageable while maintaining flexibility with your character animations. Hope that helps, and thanks again for watching!
