@@gloryhillshomestead we are not literally in Wichita Falls but instead a little more closer to Altus, OK. But we like it. Small town, we have 2.5 acres which is perfect for us. Its been dry though, the grass. We have chickens as of now,but want to grow our garden this spring, get more chickens, rabbits and save up for sheep. I think it is really beneficial for my children to grow up like this. And our family too. 😊

Absolutely! Whoever you’re buying from should be happy to answer any questions you have. You as a customer are welcome to ask what their milking routine looks like, how they filter the milk, how fast are they able to chill the milk, if they do any disease testing (BVD, BLD, Johne’s, SCC count), What the diet is of the cow, etc. I answer all of these questions with my own customers and any legit milkmaid should be happy to give that info too. Some family farms do not test, and you could always offer to pay for the testing before becoming a customer if it were super important to you. Central star labs is what we use. For one cow you could do most testing for $100-$150. Most of the time you can also ask to come watch a milking and see how the routine is. Look for cleanliness, healthy cows, stuff like that! Yes, I misspoke and corrected it on the screen with words… won’t spread “as much” bacteria! 😊 haha. The good bacteria in raw milk is what makes it such a superfood. But it’s also very important to take the right steps to prevent as much as the bad bacteria from growing also. It will make the raw milk last much longer! Thank you so much!
