In his book, and in this video, he attempts to explain how. I recall that I asked him what he thinks of Donald Hoffman's lamentations that none of our current theories (IIT, Orchestrated collapse of micro tubules, global workspace etc.) can explain how one comes to smell coffee, taste chocolate etc. His response was that Hoffman must read his book. When I say towards the end, I mean the part where he says they are currently working towards building a conscious artificial agent to demo his work.

    • @theidealisticman
      @theidealisticman 4 месяца назад

      Great! In any case, I don’t think this idea is ridiculous. It makes sense to me. It may be the case that the reconstructed model of the environment based on the genetic code may be very low resolution, but I think it would model the organism’s environment in a non-arbitrarily way nonetheless.

    • @theidealisticman
      @theidealisticman 4 месяца назад

      I just found Dawkins' Genetic Book of the Dead! The blurb at the back reads: In this groundbreaking new approach to the evolution of all life, Richard Dawkins shows how the body, behaviour, and genes of every living creature can be read as a book - an archive of the worlds of its ancestors. A perfectly camouflaged desert lizard has a desiccated landscape of sand and stones 'painted' on its back. Its skin can be read as a description of ancient deserts in which its ancestors survived - and, before that, of the worlds of its more remote ancestors: a genetic book of the dead. But such descriptions are more than skin-deep. The fine chisels of Darwinian natural selection carve their way through the very warp and woof of the body, into every biochemical nook and corner, into every cell of every living creature. A zoologist of the future, presented with a hitherto-unknown animal, will be able to reconstruct the worlds that shaped its ancestors, to read its unique 'book of the dead'.

    @11:56 Would have been interesting if Prof Ellis did address in more detail the question of existence of a God especially if he regards that for things to exist they need to be created. I agree with him though when he says science can’t provide evidence for or against the existence of God but I then wonder if that is sufficient reason for humans specifically to have a belief in the existence of a ‘God’.

    • @theidealisticman
      @theidealisticman 4 месяца назад

      That would have been a good place to branch off and dig deeper into his views. For what it’s worth, I get the sense that he wouldn’t have the kind of answer me and you would be looking for. Refer to the part where he says it’s faith, faith is believing without evidence. I appreciate believers who admit this. And where he says it’s something you experience. It’s not something that someone can tell you.

Each African government needs to spend the free money it gets in bribes from america and the others in building thier own CLOUDS ! .... it is not even that expensive ! .. they need to employ internally people like myself who will build the artificial intelligent Brains fro the task which we may require such as infrstructure building etc ! << it is not for every person in the land which require access... but each government even need to begin this way and build our own land connections between country to have our own internet system ! : we need to separate from the main internet as we have become reliant on thier external resources ! we are supposed to be actively archiving the internet for ourselfs. and creating internet Stations ! in regions so that locals can get access to the offline internet that we create to share education technology in these comunitys ! as a government they need to use the tech to manage and improve the services being offered an created ! as you know a ChatGPT model could design a whole city ! <<<< access to information is important yes but sharing that information is more important ! problem is we need to build the hardware systems and also employ workers and not talkers ! not cipier but innovator! <<< we need to become comunist and search for our genius in our land and capture them for education and funding ie we wneed places to helpp our excellent people work on tasks which will improve our society ! not for commercial gain ! as we are not the west and comerce is not the goal of a community ! water electricity , healthy, food !~!!@ not wealth ! that is the restriction !
